Story
Meet Gene: A Lovable Mix of Loyalty and Joy 🖤🐾 Gene is a 7–8 year old Pit Bull/Labrador mix with a heart as big as his second chance. This short and stocky sweetheart weighs about 48 lbs and recently joined BAARK Dog Rescue from Central Illinois—just hours before he was scheduled to be euthanized. Thankfully, Gene hopped on transport and landed safely in our care, ready to start his new chapter. 🧬 Breed Blend of Brilliance: Gene’s Pit Bull side gives him that signature loyalty and playful energy, while his Labrador traits shine through in his gentle nature and love for people. He’s lived a tough, neglectful life, which may make him look a bit older—but don’t let that fool you. He’s agile, happy, and full of life. 🐶 Social & Sweet: - Loves everyone he meets—humans and dogs alike - Gentle and playful with kind children (best with older kids) - Housebroken and well-mannered indoors - Walks beautifully on leash - Not a fan of crates, but an excellent passenger on car rides (his favorite!) Gene prefers lounging inside with occasional walks over spending time in a yard—possibly a reflection of his past life spent outdoors. He’s looking for a home where he can be part of the family, not just a fixture in the backyard. 🏡 Ideal Home: - A loving family who enjoys companionship and calm routines - Older children or adults who respect his gentle nature - A home where he can skip the crate and enjoy the couch instead 🩺 Health & Vetting: Gene is: - Housebroken - Scheduled for a full vet check - Appears to be in great overall health 📍 Adoption Info: Gene is being fostered through BAARK Dog Rescue in the northwest suburbs of Chicago. We adopt locally within our area. If you’re ready to give this handsome boy the forever home he deserves, please email BAARKDogRescue@gmail.com or call 847-852-0895 for more information and an adoption application.

Story
Agnes is a very pretty, rather petite Pitbull who had a terrible life before she was rescued and taken to Chicago Animal Control. Once joining BAARK Dog Rescue, her life changed for the better; she would never suffer any abuse or neglect again. Agnes had been seen for several weeks, living in a junkyard, finding shelter under a porch and among the junk. Every once in a while she got out of the fenced area to scavenge the neighborhood for food, only to have kids throw rocks and bottles at her and try to hurt her. She was scared, alone, and starving. It took a couple of caring, compassionate rescuers a couple of weeks to capture her. She was brought to Chicago Animal Control, still very scared and totally withdrawn. We are grateful we at BAARK learned of Agnes and have been able to help her overcome such past neglect, abuse, and fear, and she’s now ready to move along to her forever home. Agnes is estimated to be 6 years old. She weighs 39 lbs. An ideal home for Agnes is with a family having Pitbull breed experience, able to provide Agnes the attention, care, and compassion she deserves, without her having to share it with other canine family members. That is, she’d do best as an only dog. She is not good with cats. Agnes would love a nice, safe and secure back yard of her own. A solid, verifiable vet history for all current and past pets is required for all adopters of BAARK Dogs. Agnes is fully vetted, up-to-date on vaccinations, spayed, and microchipped as well as heartworm negative and on year-round heartworm preventative. If you are interested in adding Agnes to your family, please contact BAARKDogRescue@gmail.com or 847-852-0895

Story
Ciao! I’m Gorgonzola. I’m pretty sure I got my name because of my awesome cheesy smile. My foster parents say I’m a very goofy boy! There are plenty of reasons to be happy. I love everybody...though I am probably too exuberant for young kids. I’m a puppy who is working on not jumping when I get overly excited. I have completely mastered going outside to potty and sleeping in my cozy crate. Outside is actually my favorite place - I enjoy chasing squirrels and chewing sticks. I have fun playing fetch with my big red ball. I have mastered walking on a leash; my foster mom calls me a pro. I even sit and wait for cars to pass by or bicycles to go by. I am an expert with my commands, such as sit, down, paw, leave it, and more!My favorite part of the day is when my foster mom takes me on car ride adventures to new parks. I look forward to my nap when we get home. If you ever lose me, just look on the couch, I am probably sleeping . Do you need an energetic, fun-loving pup in your life? I’m your guy.Interested in adopting this dog? Ms. Sasha: Sweet as honey, fierce as can beMeet Ms. Sasha, the embodiment of “I woke up like this.” Don’t let her gentle eyes fool you—this girl has main-character energy. Just like her namesake Beyoncé’s iconic alter ego, Sasha brings confidence, grace, and a little sass everywhere she goes.By day, she’s all cuddles and calm—content to curl up beside you, chew her favorite toy for hours, or cruise shotgun on car rides like she’s headed to the Grammys. By night, she transforms into your ultimate snuggle partner, bringing warmth and peace to every bedtime encore. She’s house-training like a pro, loves long walks (though squirrels might earn a quick side-eye), and settles beautifully once crated. She’s also great with kids, dogs, and anyone who appreciates a queen with a soft heart and a playful streak.Ms. Sasha rarely barks, but when she does, you know it’s for good reason—think of it as her dropping the mic. She’s learning her cues, perfecting her “sit” and “down,” and working on her next big number: fetch. Her only diva demand? Keep your shoes out of reach—fashion runs deep in her veins, after all.So if you’re ready for a loyal best friend with the perfect blend of flawless and fierce, Ms. Sasha is ready to run the world—with you.Interested in adopting this dog? Story
Nyx may have a celestial name, but he’s all sunshine — playful, gentle, affectionate, and ready to light up someone’s life. He’s completely house trained, letting you know he needs to go by whining or pawing at the door (and he’s currently mastering the art of ringing a bell like the polite young man he is!).This handsome pup is the full package: great with kids of all ages, loves being touched, and is curious and friendly toward dogs big and small. On walks, he’s a dream — unless a squirrel or rabbit dares to make an appearance… then he remembers he’s a dog with opinions. Outside, he runs, plays fetch, and enjoys any excuse to explore the yard and stretch those long legs.Nyx is crate trained, settles after a couple minutes, and keeps a calm, easygoing energy throughout the day. He naps wherever the mood strikes — your couch, your bed, or a cozy doggy bed — and at mealtimes he’s polite, shows no food guarding, and happily eats his twice-daily meals. He knows sit, is learning down, and loves his squeaky and chew toys like they’re the greatest treasures on earth. And perhaps best of all? He has no bad habits and no known fears — just a big, playful spirit and a not-too-demanding disposition. If you’re looking for a snuggly, happy, low-maintenance companion who fits beautifully into just about any home, Nyx is your boy. He’s ready for his forever family — could it be you?Interested in adopting this dog? Story
Coal is a 4-year-old Pit Bull with the energy of burning charcoal, always fired up for play and adventure. He`s an avid frisbee enthusiast and carries his favorite red disc with him everywhere he goes. He loves going on long walks and playing fetch at the park, or getting a drink at the water fountain. When he`s not chasing frisbees or going for walks, Coal loves to relax in the sun. He`ll often be found sunbathing in the yard, soaking up the rays. While Coal loves to play and run, he also knows how to relax. He`s a gentle giant who loves to snuggle on the couch. He makes for a great heater when these fall days start to get chilly! He`s been great with other dogs, including the resident senior male pit mix and a young female basset hound. He`s especially fond of playing tug-of-war and chase with his foster sister. This handsome boy is eager to please and has mastered a variety of commands and tricks, including sit, down, heel, off, paw, place, settle, and speak, especially when there`s peanut butter involved. He`s also crate trained and enjoys his nightly wind-downs in his cozy crate.Coal is a people-pleaser, but his enthusiasm can sometimes get the best of him. We think he`d do best with older kids who can handle his playful energy. He`s looking for an active family who can provide him with plenty of exercise and love.Interested in adopting this dog? Meet Essa – A Sweet Soul from the Streets of Aruba Essa’s journey began on the streets of Aruba, but her story took a beautiful turn when we asked a local trapper to bring her to safety. No trap was needed—Essa walked right up, trusting and ready for a new beginning. Since July 3rd, Essa has been under veterinary care, receiving nutritious meals, love, and treatment for heartworm. At around 2 years old, she’s blossomed into a gentle, low-key girl who’s grateful for every bit of kindness she receives. Despite a tough start—her flat feet hint at poor nutrition as a puppy—Essa doesn’t let that slow her down. She greets each day with optimism and joy, winning hearts with her sweet nature. ? Why You’ll Love Essa: Super friendly and affectionate Gets along well with other dogs Cat-friendly (after proper introductions) Calm and easygoing Loves people and thrives on attention Essa has already received more love in the past two months than she likely ever knew before—and she returns it tenfold. She’s still undergoing heartworm treatment, but will be ready for adoption the first week of December. If you’re looking for a loyal companion with a heart full of gratitude and love, Essa might just be your perfect match. ?

He is a low rider with a big loveable personality. He spent 18 months in a rural pound after being found as a stray at just about 6 months old. His foster mom saw something special in him and wanted to get this boy ready to live the good life in a home with a family. Toby is housebroken & crate trained. He was found to be heartworm positive the rescue took care  of that and he has completed his treatment. He has been working hard on leash skills and teamed up with his foster mom’s  grand pup to get it done.  Toby can be a little shy when 1st meeting people so we go with a slow approach to introduce him, but then he's a huggable, snuggable love bug. Toby does well with other dogs and we are not sure yet on cats. He does ok with considerate kids that have some dog experience. Toby is a pretty quiet boy that just loves to be with his human companions and be loved. He is motivated by treats and willing to learn all he can and he loves rides in the car.  Toby is hoping to find his family that will help him increase his socialization skills and  give him the love of a family he deserves so much. Story
Hello! My name is Sunny – it was the name given to me by the kind Chicago police sergeant who came to my aid after the neighbors reported seeing someone toss me from a car. I was left behind but found a small girl and her nice Mom to play with in the park while I was waiting for a rescuer. That nice officer realized I was pregnant with puppies and reached out to some rescues and CDR stepped up to the plate! I found a great foster home that supported me and took amazing care of me and my adorable TWELVE puppies! Now that they have gotten old enough to find homes of their own….it’s MY TURN to find my furever home! I am a perfect short-stacked, medium-sized pup, weighing just about 45 pounds. I am house-trained, crate-trained, and GREAT with kids. I also walk really well on a leash with just a little bit of re-direction. I have had the chance to meet a couple of dogs while on my rescue journey and while I’ve done ok, I tend to be a little picky about other dogs in my space. So, a home would do best in a home as an only pup! I can be a little slow to warm up to men, but with some patience and of course, a steady stream of treats never hurts. A male/female couple with no kids might work but I can get a little protective of kids around men. No offense to men, but my foster mom says if I could find an all-female household with or without kids and as an only dog that would be a perfect fit for me! If you would like to meet me, please fill out a preadoption application and a CDR volunteer will get back to you just as quickly as they can! Cuddles and tail wags-Sunny

Story
Meet Jamison, a shy but incredibly sweet pup searching for a patient and loving family to help him blossom. This gentle boy has a soft spirit and just needs a little time and encouragement to show his true, wonderful personality. Jamison gets along beautifully with other dogs — their presence helps him feel more comfortable and confident. He’s happiest when he has a friend nearby and a cozy spot to settle into. When it comes to his favorite things, Jamison is all about chicken treats and chewing on stuffy toys. Offer him a tasty snack or a soft toy to snuggle and nibble on, and you’ll see his tail start to wag. With kindness, routine, and a supportive home, Jamison is sure to grow into the brave, happy pup he’s meant to be. If you’re looking for a gentle companion who just needs a little extra love to shine, Jamison may be the perfect match. 🐾💙 For more details, email info@ahconnects.org or give us a call at 847-697-2880 x: 0. Story
Brucie is a very handsome, young boy looking for a forever home of his own. We believe he is a Boxer mix, sporting a very attractive brindle coat. We estimate Brucie’s date of birth at February 10, 2021. At the time of this posting he is just under two years old. He is about 60 lbs. Brucie loves people and is very affectionate. Given his size and energy level, he would not be an ideal canine companion for younger children. We expect children over the age of 12 would be ok. And of course, an all-adult home would be perfect for Brucie! Brucie is very active and energetic, and sometimes can get carried away with his play. He loves running in the secure, fenced yard of his foster home. He keeps himself entertained; he would not do well in a dog park or day care. An ideal home for Brucie is one in which he can thrive as an only dog, with a family experienced with larger dogs who sometimes can get out of hand. Brucie’s only “watch-out” is that he can be a bit of a resource guarder with his food and bones, but this issue can readily be managed as he gets to know his new family and as they learn more about him!! As is the case with all young, larger dogs, Brucie would greatly benefit from obedience training which can also be a bonding experience with his new family. No doubt, Brucie has the potential to evolve into the perfect pup, but is looking for that family willing to commit to him and provide him the forever home he deserves. Brucie is fully vetted, up to date on all vaccinations, neutered & microchipped and on year-round heartworm prevention. BAARK is located in the Chicago area; we adopt our dogs only local to the Chicago area. If you are interested in adding Brucie to your family, please contact BAARKDogRescue@gmail.com or 847-852-0895.

Story
Alpine is sure a unique-looking young boy; he is thought to possibly be a Bull Terrier Mix?? He’s estimated to be about 50 lbs. His estimated date of birth is June 5th 2023. Alpine is a typical young pup, very energetic and playful. He likes to jump and can sometimes forget himself and be a little too rough with other dogs. But….…he is young and needs to learn boundaries and manners in order to evolve into a wonder family member with a forever family he so deserves.. Alpine likes playing with other dogs; he’s great with dogs and would enjoy the companionship of another dog in the home. However because of his high energy level, he may be too much for another dog, and be happy as an only dog, with an active family and possibly older kids to keep him busy and active! An ideal family for Alpine is one able to assimilate the enthusiasm and playfulness of a puppy into their lifestyle and is willing to commit the time to working with and training Alpine to be the best version of himself! A secure fenced yard is required; another younger or middle-aged pup in the family could also be advantageous. But he’d be great as an only dog too!! Alpine is crate-trained and housebroken. He is up to date on all age-appropriate vaccinations, is on heartworm preventative and is neutered and microchipped. For information about adding this adorable boy to your family please contact BAARKDogRescue@gmail.com or 847-852-0895.

Meet Bear: A Big-Hearted Brindle Beauty 🐾 Bear is a striking young Boxer mix with a gorgeous dark brindle coat and a personality as bold as his looks. Born around February 10, 2021, Bear is almost 5 years old and weighs about 60 lbs—full of energy and charm. 💙 Personality & Quirks: Bear is a people-loving pup who’s always eager for attention and affection. He’s not your typical chewer—but he does have a curious palate and has been known to sample rocks, sticks, and toys. His future family will need to keep a watchful eye to ensure he stays safe and avoids non-edible temptations. 🐕 Activity & Environment: Bear thrives in a secure, fenced yard where he can run and play to his heart’s content. He’s high-energy and sometimes gets a little carried away with his enthusiasm, so dog parks and daycare aren’t the best fit. He’s happiest as an only dog, where he can soak up all the love and attention. 👨‍👩‍👧‍👦 Ideal Home: - Adults or families with children over 12 - Experience with large, energetic dogs - A commitment to ongoing training and structure - A safe environment free of tempting chewables Bear would flourish in a home that understands his playful spirit and is ready to guide him with patience and consistency. Obedience training will not only help him grow into his best self—it’ll be a wonderful bonding experience for his new family. 🩺 Health & Vetting: Bear is: - Fully vetted - Up to date on vaccinations - Neutered and microchipped - Heartworm negative and on year-round preventative 📍 Adoption Info Bear is being fostered through BAARK Dog Rescue, located in the northwest suburbs of Chicago. We adopt locally within our area. If you’re ready to welcome Bear into your life and give him the forever home he deserves, please contact BAARKDogRescue@gmail.com or call 847-852-0895.
