Talk about enthusiasm for life! This is Capone. He goes from full-tilt mid-air toy-catching mode to champion snuggling in no time flat. Yes, he's a meatball. Chunky headed, slobbery, and built like a Mack truck. But Capone's heart is pure gold and his big, brown, puppy dog eyes...well, you'll have to come see for yourself. This boy is all about the toys. His pink ball -- ideal for catching in mid-air, and a favorite stuffie -- for carrying on walks. A fenced-in yard for games of fetch would be ideal. Because what is life, if not fun, right?Exceedingly treat-motivated, Capone is a good learner. He is house-trained and knows several commands. He would prefer to be the only dog in his household because he's still working on his manners with other dogs. No cats for him - they're too much fun to chase. Capone enjoys playing with older children, but little kids might inadvertently get bowled over! He loves, loves, loves car rides and is a good passenger. When done playing, this handsome lug is ready for some serious cuddling. Get ready for slobbery kisses, because Capone has loads of love to share.Need a reminder that life is equal parts fun and love? Capone will show you how to live life to its fullest.Interested in adopting this dog? Story
Korra is a 52-pound pittie with a petite frame and a personality that's larger than life! Fully housebroken and impeccably well-mannered, Korra has never had an accident in her foster home. She's a social butterfly with other dogs, happily sharing her toys and playing with a joyous spirit. Whether she's romping around the yard with her favorite toys or chasing after cicadas, Korra knows how to have a good time.Korra's sweet and kind nature shines through, even though she might come off as a bit aloof at first due to her independent streak. Give her a little time, and you'll see her affectionate side emerge. She loves pulling squeakers out of toys and enjoys a good chew on Nylabones, turkey tendons, and bison taffy. YUM!Crate time is a breeze for Korra-she's quiet and content even when other dogs are out and about. Car rides are calm with her preferring to lounge on the floor of the back seat. Korra is a gentle soul who rarely barks, only doing so to invite you to play. A little pulling on the leash doesn't stop her from being an easy and enjoyable walking companion. Korra has brought so much joy to her foster home, proving herself to be a truly special and unique pup!Interested in adopting this dog? Story
Chilaquiles, a 9-month-old large rescue dog, was found as a stray in Chicago. His energetic and playful nature immediately came out when he got to his foster family. Despite his rough start in life, Chilaquiles has adapted remarkably well to his new environment, showcasing his resilience and cheerful personality. His foster family chose the name "Chilaquiles" to reflect his vibrant and spirited personality.Chilaquiles is a bundle of energy and affection, weighing in at a substantial but manageable 60 pounds. He is fully house-trained and has a good grasp of basic commands like "sit" and "down." Though he is still learning not to chew on things that aren't his, his foster family notes that he is a fast learner with a lot of potential. He loves all kinds of treats and enjoys being wherever his humans are during the day, though he sleeps comfortably in his kennel at night and when left alone. While Chilaquiles is friendly with other dogs and older children, he can be a bit too much for smaller pets and very young kids. He is working on his puppy manners but his affectionate nature and eagerness to please make him a joy to have around. Chilaquiles's playful antics, love for stuffed toys, and cuddly demeanor make him a unique and lovable companion, ready to find his forever home where he can continue to grow and thrive.Interested in adopting this dog? She absolutely loves going for walks and is learning how to walk well on a leash. OLIVIA is absolutely fabulous with other dogs. She will fill your heart with joy and your life with happy memories for many years to come. Story
Hello! My name is Sunny for my sunny disposition. It is the perfect name given to me by the kind Chicago police sergeant who came to my aid after the neighbors reported seeing someone tossing me from a car. I was left behind but found a small girl and her nice Mom to play with in the park while I was waiting for a rescuer. That nice officer realized I was pregnant with puppies and reached out to some rescues and CDR stepped up to the plate! I found a great foster home that supported me and took amazing care of me and my adorable TWELVE puppies! Now that they have gotten old enough to find homes of their own….it’s MY TURN to find my furever home! I am a perfect short stack, medium-sized pup, weighing in at just about 45 pounds. I am house-trained, working on my crate and GREAT with kids. I am a little slow to warm up to men, but a couple days of being patient while I figure out them out – and of course a steady stream of treats never hurt, and I’m totally fine! I have had the chance to meet a couple of dogs while on my rescue journey and I prefer slow introductions. I seem to do the best with laid-back male dogs or could be very happy in a home as an only pup! If you would like to meet me, please fill out a preadoption application and a CDR volunteer will get back to you just as quick as they can! Cuddles and kisses-Sunny

Story
Hi there! My name is Belden, and I'm a beautiful male puppy looking for my forever home. I may be young, but I've got a whole lot of love and excitement to bring to a family who will cherish me. With my good looks and my soulful stare foster mom says I’m the heartbreaker of my family- which by the way was found the day after New Year’s Day in a box! All of us tossed to the street in the cold. AI was found the day after New Year’s Day in a box with 7 other puppies. A kind Uber driver turned us in to the Chicago police station who then reached out to CDR who took us all in! I’m super smart and always paying attention, watching what’s going on…..and keeping an eye out for treats especially. Treats are my favorite thing in the world. Except for toys- I love toys. Almost as much as cuddles and pets. It’s really hard to pick favorites now that I think about it- I like everything! I'll thrive in an environment where I can get plenty of exercise and playtime, so an active household would be ideal for me. Training and socialization are also important for me to grow into a well-behaved and happy companion. If you think you could be the perfect match for me, please fill out an adoption application and come meet me! Kisses and cuddles-Belden

Story
Hello! My name is Radar and I am a total goofy love bug! My heart is as big as my ears! I would be the perfect match for a family with kids or other canines because I am extremely dog/kid-friendly. In fact, my fosters say I would thrive in a home with another playful dog to match my energy and/or kiddos to play with. I feel the most confident around other dogs and learn quickly from following their lead. I have been trusted alone in the house to free roam with the other dogs (after a lot of puppy proofing of course). I absolutely LOVE to cuddle and will curl right up on your chest all night long.and sleep through the entire night. My foster says I have such a funny, sweet personality and the perfect pup to take on all your adventures! Looking for a social pup? Yep, it's me! When we are out and about, I want to meet everyone! And last thing from the foster...she says I am overall a very happy sweet puppy that would do great just about anywhere! My ideal home has lots of love and patience and time to work on my home life skills and if you have a couple of kids or another dog or even both, I AM YOUR GUY! If you would like to meet me, please fill out a pre adoption application and a CDR volunteer will get back to you just as quick as they can! Cuddles and kisses-Radar
