Ciao! I’m Gorgonzola. I’m pretty sure I got my name because of my awesome cheesy smile. My foster parents say I’m a very goofy boy! There are plenty of reasons to be happy. I love everybody...though I am probably too exuberant for young kids. I’m a puppy who is working on not jumping when I get overly excited. I have completely mastered going outside to potty and sleeping in my cozy crate. Outside is actually my favorite place - I enjoy chasing squirrels and chewing sticks. I have fun playing fetch with my big red ball. I have mastered walking on a leash; my foster mom calls me a pro. I even sit and wait for cars to pass by or bicycles to go by. I am an expert with my commands, such as sit, down, paw, leave it, and more!My favorite part of the day is when my foster mom takes me on car ride adventures to new parks. I look forward to my nap when we get home. If you ever lose me, just look on the couch, I am probably sleeping . Do you need an energetic, fun-loving pup in your life? I’m your guy.Interested in adopting this dog? Ms. Sasha: Sweet as honey, fierce as can beMeet Ms. Sasha, the embodiment of “I woke up like this.” Don’t let her gentle eyes fool you—this girl has main-character energy. Just like her namesake Beyoncé’s iconic alter ego, Sasha brings confidence, grace, and a little sass everywhere she goes.By day, she’s all cuddles and calm—content to curl up beside you, chew her favorite toy for hours, or cruise shotgun on car rides like she’s headed to the Grammys. By night, she transforms into your ultimate snuggle partner, bringing warmth and peace to every bedtime encore. She’s house-training like a pro, loves long walks (though squirrels might earn a quick side-eye), and settles beautifully once crated. She’s also great with kids, dogs, and anyone who appreciates a queen with a soft heart and a playful streak.Ms. Sasha rarely barks, but when she does, you know it’s for good reason—think of it as her dropping the mic. She’s learning her cues, perfecting her “sit” and “down,” and working on her next big number: fetch. Her only diva demand? Keep your shoes out of reach—fashion runs deep in her veins, after all.So if you’re ready for a loyal best friend with the perfect blend of flawless and fierce, Ms. Sasha is ready to run the world—with you.Interested in adopting this dog? Nyx may have a celestial name, but he’s all sunshine — playful, gentle, affectionate, and ready to light up someone’s life. He’s completely house trained, letting you know he needs to go by whining or pawing at the door (and he’s currently mastering the art of ringing a bell like the polite young man he is!).This handsome pup is the full package: great with kids of all ages, loves being touched, and is curious and friendly toward dogs big and small. On walks, he’s a dream — unless a squirrel or rabbit dares to make an appearance… then he remembers he’s a dog with opinions. Outside, he runs, plays fetch, and enjoys any excuse to explore the yard and stretch those long legs.Nyx is crate trained, settles after a couple minutes, and keeps a calm, easygoing energy throughout the day. He naps wherever the mood strikes — your couch, your bed, or a cozy doggy bed — and at mealtimes he’s polite, shows no food guarding, and happily eats his twice-daily meals. He knows sit, is learning down, and loves his squeaky and chew toys like they’re the greatest treasures on earth. And perhaps best of all? He has no bad habits and no known fears — just a big, playful spirit and a not-too-demanding disposition. If you’re looking for a snuggly, happy, low-maintenance companion who fits beautifully into just about any home, Nyx is your boy. Story
Coal is a 4-year-old Pit Bull with the energy of burning charcoal, always fired up for play and adventure. He`s an avid frisbee enthusiast and carries his favorite red disc with him everywhere he goes. He loves going on long walks and playing fetch at the park, or getting a drink at the water fountain. When he`s not chasing frisbees or going for walks, Coal loves to relax in the sun. He`ll often be found sunbathing in the yard, soaking up the rays. While Coal loves to play and run, he also knows how to relax. He`s a gentle giant who loves to snuggle on the couch. He makes for a great heater when these fall days start to get chilly! He`s been great with other dogs, including the resident senior male pit mix and a young female basset hound. He`s especially fond of playing tug-of-war and chase with his foster sister. This handsome boy is eager to please and has mastered a variety of commands and tricks, including sit, down, heel, off, paw, place, settle, and speak, especially when there`s peanut butter involved. He`s also crate trained and enjoys his nightly wind-downs in his cozy crate.Coal is a people-pleaser, but his enthusiasm can sometimes get the best of him. We think he`d do best with older kids who can handle his playful energy. He`s looking for an active family who can provide him with plenty of exercise and love.Interested in adopting this dog? Meet Pasa (that’s “Raisin” in Spanish)—because this sweet girl is all about raising the bar on love, loyalty, and couch-cuddling skills! Pasa is a big-hearted goofball who’s happiest right by your side. Whether you’re out for a walk (she’s a total leash superstar!) or settling in for a Netflix marathon, she’ll match your pace and your mood. Her favorite place in the world? Wherever you are. She’s still mastering the finer points of house training—cold weather potty breaks aren’t her favorite—but she’s learning fast with gentle consistency. Pasa’s not a fan of confinement (crates are a big “no thank you” from her), so she’s best suited for a home where she can enjoy her freedom and snuggle time without feeling boxed in.Pasa does great with other dogs after a slow introduction and has shown she can build trust beautifully once she feels safe. She’s super smart, food-motivated, and already knows “down.” She’s also an excellent communicator when it comes to love—one look from those soulful eyes and you’ll melt. Her journey hasn’t been easy, but she’s risen above it all—raising her confidence, raising her trust in humans, and raising the hearts of everyone she meets.Interested in adopting this dog? Story
Meet Gene: A Lovable Mix of Loyalty and Joy 🖤🐾 Gene is a 7–8 year old Pit Bull/Labrador mix with a heart as big as his second chance. This short and stocky sweetheart weighs about 48 lbs and recently joined BAARK Dog Rescue from Central Illinois—just hours before he was scheduled to be euthanized. Thankfully, Gene hopped on transport and landed safely in our care, ready to start his new chapter. 🧬 Breed Blend of Brilliance: Gene’s Pit Bull side gives him that signature loyalty and playful energy, while his Labrador traits shine through in his gentle nature and love for people. He’s lived a tough, neglectful life, which may make him look a bit older—but don’t let that fool you. He’s agile, happy, and full of life. 🐶 Social & Sweet: - Loves everyone he meets—humans and dogs alike - Gentle and playful with kind children (best with older kids) - Housebroken and well-mannered indoors - Walks beautifully on leash - Not a fan of crates, but an excellent passenger on car rides (his favorite!) Gene prefers lounging inside with occasional walks over spending time in a yard—possibly a reflection of his past life spent outdoors. He’s looking for a home where he can be part of the family, not just a fixture in the backyard. 🏡 Ideal Home: - A loving family who enjoys companionship and calm routines - Older children or adults who respect his gentle nature - A home where he can skip the crate and enjoy the couch instead 🩺 Health & Vetting: Gene is: - Housebroken - Scheduled for a full vet check - Appears to be in great overall health 📍 Adoption Info: Gene is being fostered through BAARK Dog Rescue in the northwest suburbs of Chicago. We adopt locally within our area. If you’re ready to give this handsome boy the forever home he deserves, please email BAARKDogRescue@gmail.com or call 847-852-0895 for more information and an adoption application.

Rizzo — The Tough-Girl-With-a-Heart-of-Gold BoxerMeet Rizzo, the 4-year-old Boxer beauty who’s got that perfect mix of sass, sweetness, and soul. Like her namesake from Grease, she may look tough on the outside—but under that cool-girl charm is a total softie who just wants to love and be loved. After coming up from Alabama (where snow was just a rumor), Rizzo’s learned to embrace her new life up north. Once she realized the white stuff was safe, she was all in—zoomies, snow angels, the works. She’s completely house trained, sleeps like a rock, and can be left loose in the house without worry. Crates? Not her scene—she’s more of a “curl-up-on-the-couch-and-snuggle” kind of gal.Rizzo’s got a big personality and loves being part of the action. She adores people (especially her foster’s son, her favorite T-Bird in the world) and thrives on attention and affection. She’d be happiest in a home where she can be someone’s leading lady—whether that’s as an only dog or with playmates who match her energy. She’s social, playful, and curious—fine with kids 10 and up, respectful at mealtime, and easily redirected with a simple “no begging.” Her favorite toys are pink stuffies, crinkly squeakers, and the occasional water bottle (hey, Rizzo’s gotta recycle in style).Rizzo’s motto?“There are worse things I could do… than fall head-over-paws for you.” So if you’re ready to meet your match made in musical history—a confident, loving, loyal best friend with star power to spare—Rizzo’s your girl.Interested in adopting this dog? Story
Brucie is a very handsome, young boy looking for a forever home of his own. We believe he is a Boxer mix, sporting a very attractive brindle coat. We estimate Brucie’s date of birth at February 10, 2021. At the time of this posting he is just under two years old. He is about 60 lbs. Brucie loves people and is very affectionate. Given his size and energy level, he would not be an ideal canine companion for younger children. We expect children over the age of 12 would be ok. And of course, an all-adult home would be perfect for Brucie! Brucie is very active and energetic, and sometimes can get carried away with his play. He loves running in the secure, fenced yard of his foster home. He keeps himself entertained; he would not do well in a dog park or day care. An ideal home for Brucie is one in which he can thrive as an only dog, with a family experienced with larger dogs who sometimes can get out of hand. Brucie’s only “watch-out” is that he can be a bit of a resource guarder with his food and bones, but this issue can readily be managed as he gets to know his new family and as they learn more about him!! As is the case with all young, larger dogs, Brucie would greatly benefit from obedience training which can also be a bonding experience with his new family. No doubt, Brucie has the potential to evolve into the perfect pup, but is looking for that family willing to commit to him and provide him the forever home he deserves. Brucie is fully vetted, up to date on all vaccinations, neutered & microchipped and on year-round heartworm prevention. BAARK is located in the Chicago area; we adopt our dogs only local to the Chicago area. If you are interested in adding Brucie to your family, please contact BAARKDogRescue@gmail.com or 847-852-0895.

Story
Alpine is sure a unique-looking young boy; he is thought to possibly be a Bull Terrier Mix?? He’s estimated to be about 50 lbs. His estimated date of birth is June 5th 2023. Alpine is a typical young pup, very energetic and playful. He likes to jump and can sometimes forget himself and be a little too rough with other dogs. But….…he is young and needs to learn boundaries and manners in order to evolve into a wonder family member with a forever family he so deserves.. Alpine likes playing with other dogs; he’s great with dogs and would enjoy the companionship of another dog in the home. However because of his high energy level, he may be too much for another dog, and be happy as an only dog, with an active family and possibly older kids to keep him busy and active! An ideal family for Alpine is one able to assimilate the enthusiasm and playfulness of a puppy into their lifestyle and is willing to commit the time to working with and training Alpine to be the best version of himself! A secure fenced yard is required; another younger or middle-aged pup in the family could also be advantageous. But he’d be great as an only dog too!! Alpine is crate-trained and housebroken. He is up to date on all age-appropriate vaccinations, is on heartworm preventative and is neutered and microchipped. For information about adding this adorable boy to your family please contact BAARKDogRescue@gmail.com or 847-852-0895.
