He’s completely house trained, letting you know he needs to go by whining or pawing at the door (and he’s currently mastering the art of ringing a bell like the polite young man he is!).This handsome pup is the full package: great with kids of all ages, loves being touched, and is curious and friendly toward dogs big and small. On walks, he’s a dream — unless a squirrel or rabbit dares to make an appearance… then he remembers he’s a dog with opinions. Outside, he runs, plays fetch, and enjoys any excuse to explore the yard and stretch those long legs.Nyx is crate trained, settles after a couple minutes, and keeps a calm, easygoing energy throughout the day. He naps wherever the mood strikes — your couch, your bed, or a cozy doggy bed — and at mealtimes he’s polite, shows no food guarding, and happily eats his twice-daily meals.He knows sit, is learning down, and loves his squeaky and chew toys like they’re the greatest treasures on earth. Coal is a 4-year-old Pit Bull with the energy of burning charcoal, always fired up for play and adventure. He`s an avid frisbee enthusiast and carries his favorite red disc with him everywhere he goes. He loves going on long walks and playing fetch at the park, or getting a drink at the water fountain. When he`s not chasing frisbees or going for walks, Coal loves to relax in the sun. He`ll often be found sunbathing in the yard, soaking up the rays.While Coal loves to play and run, he also knows how to relax. He`s a gentle giant who loves to snuggle on the couch. He makes for a great heater when these fall days start to get chilly! He`s been great with other dogs, including the resident senior male pit mix and a young female basset hound. He`s especially fond of playing tug-of-war and chase with his foster sister.This handsome boy is eager to please and has mastered a variety of commands and tricks, including sit, down, heel, off, paw, place, settle, and speak, especially when there`s peanut butter involved. This short and stocky sweetheart weighs about 48 lbs and recently joined BAARK Dog Rescue from Central Illinois—just hours before he was scheduled to be euthanized. Thankfully, Gene hopped on transport and landed safely in our care, ready to start his new chapter. 🧬 Breed Blend of Brilliance: Gene’s Pit Bull side gives him that signature loyalty and playful energy, while his Labrador traits shine through in his gentle nature and love for people. He’s lived a tough, neglectful life, which may make him look a bit older—but don’t let that fool you. He’s agile, happy, and full of life. 🐶 Social & Sweet: - Loves everyone he meets—humans and dogs alike - Gentle and playful with kind children (best with older kids) - Housebroken and well-mannered indoors - Walks beautifully on leash - Not a fan of crates, but an excellent passenger on car rides (his favorite!) Agnes is a very pretty, rather petite Pitbull who had a terrible life before she was rescued and taken to Chicago Animal Control. Once joining BAARK Dog Rescue, her life changed for the better; she would never suffer any abuse or neglect again. Agnes had been seen for several weeks, living in a junkyard, finding shelter under a porch and among the junk. Every once in a while she got out of the fenced area to scavenge the neighborhood for food, only to have kids throw rocks and bottles at her and try to hurt her. She was scared, alone, and starving. It took a couple of caring, compassionate rescuers a couple of weeks to capture her. She was brought to Chicago Animal Control, still very scared and totally withdrawn. We are grateful we at BAARK learned of Agnes and have been able to help her overcome such past neglect, abuse, and fear, and she’s now ready to move along to her forever home. Agnes is estimated to be 6 years old. She weighs 39 lbs. An ideal home for Agnes is with a family having Pitbull breed experience, able to provide Agnes the attention, care, and compassion she deserves, without her having to share it with other canine family members. That is, she’d do best as an only dog. She is not good with cats. Agnes would love a nice, safe and secure back yard of her own. A solid, verifiable vet history for all current and past pets is required for all adopters of BAARK Dogs. Agnes is fully vetted, up-to-date on vaccinations, spayed, and microchipped as well as heartworm negative and on year-round heartworm preventative. Hello! My name is Sunny – it was the name given to me by the kind Chicago police sergeant who came to my aid after the neighbors reported seeing someone toss me from a car. I was left behind but found a small girl and her nice Mom to play with in the park while I was waiting for a rescuer. That nice officer realized I was pregnant with puppies and reached out to some rescues and CDR stepped up to the plate! I found a great foster home that supported me and took amazing care of me and my adorable TWELVE puppies! Now that they have gotten old enough to find homes of their own….it’s MY TURN to find my furever home! I am a perfect short-stacked, medium-sized pup, weighing just about 45 pounds. I am house-trained, crate-trained, and GREAT with kids. I also walk really well on a leash with just a little bit of re-direction. I have had the chance to meet a couple of dogs while on my rescue journey and while I’ve done ok, I tend to be a little picky about other dogs in my space. So, a home would do best in a home as an only pup! I can be a little slow to warm up to men, but with some patience and of course, a steady stream of treats never hurts. A male/female couple with no kids might work but I can get a little protective of kids around men. No offense to men, but my foster mom says if I could find an all-female household with or without kids and as an only dog that would be a perfect fit for me! Ruby is an energetic, fun, loving dog. She’s very people friendly but she is not pet friendly. She’s very happy with people and playful however, with other dogs or cats, she can be aggressive. She is house trained. She has been fixed and she does have a microchip and her shots are up-to-date. I feel she would be better with someone who knows how to deal with bigger dogs and knows how to train dogs well. She gets along very well with my kids however, my kids are older not small. She’s very exciting with my nephew and my nieces. She’s just not good with other animals.
