Story
Hi, I'm Monty! Thanks for checking me out! I know my cute face is hard to resist, but here's the scoop: I'll need a lot of your time and attention as I grow up into the amazing adult dog I'm destined to be! I'm looking for a forever family that will help me with socialization, training (yes, that includes house training!), and plenty of exercise. And let's not forget the chewing and teething-I'm still learning what's okay (and what's definitely not okay) to put in my mouth. So, be ready for some puppy-proofing! Don't forget those vet visits! I'll need to stay up to date on my boosters and vaccines, which means a few trips to see my favorite vet in the first few months. But trust me, all that effort will be worth it when you experience the endless love, puppy kisses, and pure joy I'll bring into your life. So, if you're up for the challenge and the fun, why not come meet me in person? Stop by during our adoption hours. For more details, email info@ahconnects.org or give us a call at 847-697-2880 x: 0. The friendly folks here will be happy to answer all your questions! Can't wait to meet you and start our adventure together! All of our dogs and puppies go home spayed or neutered, microchipped, and heartworm tested (for dogs 7 months and older). They are also up to date on core vaccines, as well as heartworm, flea, and tick preventatives. Each adoption includes a 3.5-pound bag of dog or puppy food and a free vet exam at one of our participating veterinary partners.

Story
Meet Waylon — your new best friend in the making. Waylon is a sweet, lovable pup with a gentle heart and a curious spirit. He’s the kind of dog who watches the world with bright, hopeful eyes and is always ready to make a new friend—human or canine. Whether he’s out exploring on a walk or settling in for some well-earned cuddle time, Waylon brings an easy, happy energy wherever he goes. Waylon would do great in a home that can give him love, consistency, and a little room to keep learning and growing. He’s eager to please, enjoys attention, and will absolutely thrive with a family who wants a loyal companion to share everyday life with—walks, couch time, and all the little moments in between. If you’re looking for a dog who will fill your home with affection, tail wags, and genuine companionship, Waylon is ready to be your guy. When Waylon arrived at Anderson Animal Shelter from their partner shelter in Oklahoma, he tested positive for Heartworm. The staff believes that the best place for Heartworm positive dogs like Waylon to be while going through treatments and recovering is with a loving and forever family. If you choose to adopt Waylon, the clinic staff will be with you every step of the way, answering questions and offering support. The process from detection to the final treatment is generally three months and involves some simple at-home steps to keep him safe while he recovers. The last step in the process is a follow-up test six months after treatment begins. The Heartworm treatment process is highly successful and the staff anticipates a full recovery! And you should know that Heartworm can only be transmitted from animal to animal by mosquitoes. Waylon is currently living in a foster home. For more information on him or to schedule an appointment to meet him, email info@ahconnects.org or call us at 847-697-2880 x: 0, and the staff will be happy to help you.

Meet Mila 💕 Mila is a stunning chocolate Pit Bull Terrier mix with a face as precious as her personality! Small but mighty, she’s an energetic, happy pup who loves adventure and playtime. Long walks are her favorite — especially when she gets to stop and sniff along the way! A harness is her best friend for walks since she’s such an enthusiastic explorer. Plush toys with squeakers are her absolute favorite, and she proudly shows off her “toy-shredding” skills (don’t worry — she’s never tried to eat the pieces!). Mila also adores tasty treats like cheese and freeze-dried snacks, which make training extra fun. She’s already mastering “sit” and is eager to keep learning. Mila can get a little jumpy and mouthy when excited, but it’s all part of her playful spirit, and she quickly settles with a bit of guidance and patience. She’s been fully potty trained in her foster home, enjoys car rides, and loves rubbing up against her people for extra affection. Mila gets along well with other dogs and would do best in a home with children 12 and older. If you’re looking for a loving, energetic companion to share your adventures, Mila is your girl! 🐾 Stop by during our adoption hours. For more information, email info@ahconnects.org or call us at 847-697-2880 x: 0, and the staff will be happy to help you.
