Hi, my name is Maggie!I'm quite the shy girl at first, I like to really get to know someone before I feel comfortable with them. I may be a bit scared in this environment, but once I've spent some time with you, my true personality shines bright! I like to be walked, petted, and even loved on! I'm not fond of other dogs, and even cats or smaller children; so a home that's quiet with older children and adults would be preferred. I love to snuggle after a long day of playing. If you'd like to meet me, please ask my shelter friends. They would be more than happy to introduce me to you! Thank you!Weight: 41 lbs Primary Color: Black Secondary Color: White Weight: 41.4 Age: 3yrs 3mths 0wks

Story
Orly is a very special girl with a very special story. We don't know much about her, but this is what we do know:  Orly is approximately 3 years old, and a presumably purebred Blue Heeler, she is also small, sweet and calm for her breed. She weighs about 35 pounds, and is not a barker or nipper. One of the Angels volunteers was contacted by a rural animal control about a sweet, scared dog with a massive, deep cut on her left side. On top of this, she was heart-worm positive. She was promptly rescued. Our wonderful vets were able to repair the wound, and she is now recovering well. Understandably, she was in pain and very scared (and very vocal about it, however, no matter how much she yelped and threatened to nip us when we first approached her, not a single time did she actually nip, which is very rare in heelers). She is now comfortable in the foster home, acting relaxed and happy. She seems to be docile and easygoing. Orly gets along with other dogs in the household, but may be selective and needs slow introductions.  She is fully potty trained and doesn't chew on anything, so we didn't have a reason to crate her. She walks well on a leash, and of course, she is a Velcro dog. In this regard, she is true to the Heeler breed. She is  friendly towards strangers and seems to especially like kids. We think she  can make a wonderful family dog. Her heart-worm status is stage one - the lowest possible, with very little or no impact on her heart and lungs.  Orly started her heart-worm treatment on 2/27/25, but she can be preadopted before completing her treatment. She will be able to go to her new home around the end of April.  During her treatment, she needs to be at low activity levels.  If you love heelers the way we do, you will find Orly gorgeous. We have yet to catch her smiling, so we will be adding more pictures of her!
