Story
AN ACTIVE & FUN FELLOW:  Approx. 3 years old / Approx. 33 lbs. Hello – I’m Cody!  I came to Mostly Mutts from animal control, and I’ve been soaking up the love ever since!  As much as I love the great volunteers, I am ready to meet my new family and start my ‘happily ever after’ with them!  I spent some time in the prison/foster training program having fun and learning a lot!  I was adopted for 2 months, and though my family loved me a lot, I just needed more stimulation and exercise than they could provide, so I’m back with Mostly Mutts looking for the right fit.  • OTHER DOGS/CATS/KIDS:  I met some dogs at Mostly Mutts, and I was friendly with them.  I also played nicely with a 3-year-old larger dog in a temporary foster home, with just a few playfully mouthy moments (common for my breed mix).  I can also play alongside with a toy in my mouth, so if you have a nice doggie at home already who sounds like a match for my play style, let’s meet and see if we can be pals.  In my temporary adoptive home, I got to go to doggie day care at times and enjoyed that! / Cats unknown. / I liked the kids I met with my temp. adoptive home, though I don’t recall their ages, so let’s meet and best no toddlers that I may bump over, as I am pretty strong and active. • PERSONALITY/ENERGY LEVEL:  I’m a busy guy with a friendly demeanor.  In fact, I’ve heard the volunteers describe me as ‘a strong and lovable guy with a sweet nature’.  I’ll either charm you with my handsome good looks or delight you with my contagious playfulness!  Though I’m quite energetic, I did calm down for my shelter bath and the great rubs and pets that came with that.  I have been a bit playfully mouthy and wiggly during leashing at the shelter and leave my kennel raring to go, so be ready for my enthusiasm, right out of the gate.  I’m just so happy to be out and about with the volunteers!  They say that I do the most adorable head tilts when I hear certain sounds, like whistling – so cute!  I was a good home office dog in a temp. foster home, relaxing in a dog bed while my person worked.  I did a little counter surfing, but this is trainable.  Affectionate and fun, I’m ready to bring lots of fun and adventure to my new home! / My energy level is 6-8 so I’ll want my family to be active with me! • SKILLS/CRATE/POTTY:  I am a student in the Mostly Mutts University training program, where I look forward to learning lots of great commands with my trainer.  I’ve mastered the ‘sit’, ‘come’, ‘down’, and ‘drop it’ commands as well as how to utilize proper door etiquette.  Let's continue my training together with the free lifetime training classes that Mostly Mutts offers for all their adopted dogs! / My crate manners are good at Mostly Mutts, though I don’t want to spend a lot of time in my crate.  I didn’t want to be crated at night in my temp. foster, but maybe I won’t need a crate in my new home. / My former adoptive family reported that I did well with my potty manners while with them, so hopefully that will be the case in my new home.  • LIKES/DISLIKES: I LOVE being petted and will happily spend time hanging out with a volunteer on the front bench after my walks – collecting all the tummy scratches / rubs you wish to give!  I’m also quite treat motivated, so have those handy when you want my undivided attention.  I went on a sunset hike with a volunteer, enjoying the exercise and happily rewarding them with plenty of kisses along the way.  I enjoy a soft dog bed and relaxing on the couch with my people!  Toys get my attention as well, so let’s PLAY! / Other than not wanting to be in a crate too much, I can’t think of any real dislikes, though I’m sure I wouldn’t like it if I didn’t get enough love, attention, exercise, and training. • MEDICAL:  I'm current on annual vaccinations, micro-chipped and neutered. I am looking for a wonderful home with a family that will be active and have fun with me!  My adoption fee is $299.00, and I’m located in Kennesaw, Ga.  May 11, 2026, 10:17 am

Story
Meet Jack! Say hello to Jack, our lovable 8-year-old Australian Cattle Dog mix with the spirit of a much younger pup! He came to us through a shelter pull alongside three other dogs, and while he may be considered a senior, Jack still has plenty of energy to keep up with an active home. Active & Full of LifeDon’t let his age fool you—Jack still loves to stay active, explore, and enjoy his daily adventures. He’s the perfect mix of playful and easygoing. Loves AttentionJack absolutely adores people and thrives on attention. Whether it’s pets, praise, or just being near his humans, he’s happiest when he’s loved on. Health Update & Heartworm CareJack is up to date on all vaccines. He did test positive for heartworm, but we are currently running a confirmation test since no microfilariae were detected in his initial results. What are microfilariae?Microfilariae are tiny, immature heartworms that circulate in the bloodstream. They are essentially the “baby” stage of heartworms. When present, they indicate that adult heartworms are actively reproducing in the heart and lungs. What is heartworm disease?Heartworm disease is caused by parasitic worms transmitted through mosquito bites. These worms live in the heart, lungs, and blood vessels, where they can grow and multiply. Over time, they can cause serious damage to the heart, restrict blood flow, and lead to lung disease, heart failure, and even death if left untreated. Why prevention mattersHeartworm disease is completely preventable with routine monthly preventatives. Without it, pets are at risk every time they’re exposed to mosquitoes—even indoor pets. Treatment OptionsBecause no microfilariae were found, we are doing further testing to confirm his diagnosis before deciding on the best treatment route: Injection (Fast-Kill Treatment):This is the standard treatment using a series of injections that kill adult heartworms more quickly. It requires strict rest and monitoring but is the most direct and commonly recommended method. Slow-Kill Method:This approach uses monthly heartworm prevention and sometimes antibiotics over time to gradually eliminate the worms. It’s less aggressive but takes much longer and requires careful management. The final treatment plan for Jack will depend on the confirmation test results, and we will choose the safest and most effective option for him. A Loving Companion in the MakingJack is a sweet, resilient boy who is ready to find a family to stand by him through his treatment and beyond. In return, he’ll give you endless love, loyalty, and companionship. Come meet Jack and be part of his journey! ##2698432##

Story
Meet Odie! Odie is one of many dogs we have saved from rural Upson County lately. Being a very small, rural shelter the dogs are only held for a very short stray hold before they are at risk of euthanasia. Thankfully they have a very dedicated group of volunteers who work tirelessly to try to get the dogs to safety before their time runs out Odie is about a year and a half old and not even 35 lbs - what a great age and size! It's hard to know for sure what breed he is given that he was a stray but those tell tale spots could mean there is some heeler or maybe even bird dog in there. We prefer to think of him as 100% purebred Rescue Mutt - the best kid of dog there is! Odie is great with other dogs and has learned to really love his crate as well. He's a super social guy who was a big hit at one of our adoption events recently - stopping to greet all of the new people he came upon. This well rounded lovebug will make an amazing addition to one lucky family! Interested in adopting?
