Story
My grandmothers caregiver found this dog running in the road on 20 in Lawrenceville and picked him up and brought him over to our house. My grandmother is getting in worse shape with her dementia and I have too much going on with my children and he needs somebody who can truly love him and who has enough space for him to run or can walk him every day. Between homeschooling and taking care of my grandmother and having a baby having a found dog thrown on me is a little much. I have had him for about 6 or 8 months but I cannot give him the attention that he needs. Hes a very sweet dog and has gotten protective over the kids and I think he would be protective over his new owners too.

Story
Interview with Dash:Interviewer: How did you arrive to the Animal Shelter? Dash: Well, I was walking down the street looking for leftover Thanksgiving scraps when I noticed that someone pulled their vehicle over to the side of the road. I assumed they had some scraps for me, so I walked up to them and jumped into their vehicle and guess what, no scraps, how rude!!!! The man who picked me up told me that he didn’t want me to get hurt and took me to the Animal Shelter. Interviewer: Did you like being at the Animal Shelter? Dash: At first no, because there were a lot of rowdy dogs in the area I was staying at. It scared me a bit and I just stayed to myself, but then one day I went out for a walk and they put me in the Administrative Supervisors office, which was awesome. I went from a small apartment to a condo! A big upgrade. Interviewer: What has changed since you arrived at the Animal Shelter?Dash: A lot has changed! When I arrived at the Shelter, I was heartworm positive. I went into a foster home while going through my treatment. Thankfully, my treatment has been completed and starting March 15th, I can return to my normal activities, like playing fetch with a tennis ball and going for long walks! I cannot wait, I’m so excited for this day to arrive. Also, my foster parent wanted to adopt me, which I was super excited about because she has been one of the best foster parents that any dog could ask for, but unfortunately with inflation and being on a limited income, she cannot adopt me. But that’s okay because my forever family is out there, I just know it.Interviewer: What do you look for in a family?Dash: Okay, I am going to be a little picky here. I am a woman’s man, but if the woman I adore has a man in her home, I’ll be okay with that ONLY under these circumstances: 1) Men like to wear these weird things on their heads that scare me sometimes. My foster parent told me those are called “hats”. Not sure what they do, but they sure do scare me and prefer they not be worn when I’m around. 2)No loud power tools in my presence. Those things scare me too.Other than those 2 circumstances, I should be perfectly fine with a male in the home. What will not work for me is children. They scare me as well. Anytime I get scared, I tend to nip at their shoes. I guess it’s the Heeler in me that makes me do that. I am not a fan of cats and I have never met a dog before, so I`m not sure how I`d do with them.Inter

Story
Orly is a very special girl with a very special story. We don't know much about her, but this is what we do know:  Orly is approximately 3 years old, presumably purebred Blue Heeler, small, sweet and calm for her breed. She is about 35 pounds, not a barker, and very submissive.   One of the Angels volunteers was contacted by a rural animal control about a sweet, scared dog with a massive, deep cut on her left side. On top of this, she was heart-worm positive. She was promptly rescued. Our wonderful vets were able to repair the wound, and she is now recovering well. Understandably, she was in pain and very scared (and very vocal about it, however, no matter how much she yelped and threatened to nip us when we first approached her, not a single time did she actually nip, which is very rare in heelers). She is now comfortable in the foster home, acting relaxed and happy. She seems to be docile, easygoing, and dog-friendly. She is fully potty trained and doesn't chew on anything, so we didn't have a reason to crate her. She walks well on a leash, and of course, she is a Velcro dog. In this regard, she is true to the Heeler breed.   She is  friendly towards strangers and seems to especially like kids. We think she will make a wonderful family dog.   Her heart-worm status is stage one - the lowest possible, with very little or no impact on her heart and lungs. This makes her chance to make a full recovery excellent!   Orly started her heart-worm treatment on 2/27/25. However, w e are accepting applications for her now, even hough she is on strict low activity during treatment. But she will be available for adoption starting in  mid-April.   If you love heelers the way we do, you will find Orly gorgeous. We have yet to catch her smiling, so we will be adding more pictures of her!
