Story
Introducing Roo, the lovable 2-year-old male dog who is patiently waiting for his forever home! This playful pup arrived at the shelter on 5/3/23 after being turned in by his previous owner, who sadly had to move and could not take him along. He is reportedly housebroken and good with kids. When it comes to manners, Roo is top-notch! He knows how to sit and is quiet when he is inside. Plus, he is up-to-date on all of his vaccines and has tested negative for heartworms. Additionally, he has already been neutered and microchipped, which means he is ready to find his new home as soon as possible. If you're looking for a playful and affectionate dog who will keep you entertained and shower you with love, then Roo is the perfect fit for you! Don't wait any longer to give this sweet boy the loving home he deserves. His ID number is 644481, and he can be found in Run #848. Please note, all of the pet listings on Friends of Shelter Animals for Cobb are done by volunteers, not shelter staff. If this pet came in as lost (not an owner surrender), we don't know how they might be with children, other pets, or if house trained. You can bring your pet to the shelter for a meet & greet with your potential new best friend. When calling the shelter about a cat or dog, please use THE ID NUMBER - names are oftentimes made up by volunteers. This beautiful baby and many others are available for adoption from the Cobb County Animal Shelter 1060 Al Bishop Dr. Marietta, GA 30008, call (770) 499-4136 for more information. Shelter hours are: Tues. - Sun. 10:30 a.m. to 4:30 p.m. by appointment only until further notice, CLOSED Mondays & Holidays.

Story
Hasbro was found wandering, lost and lonely, by animal control and turned in to the local shelter. There, he found the noise, isolation, and discomfort of the kennel overwhelming, and was never able to let his true personality shine. No one came for him, and adopters kept passing him up, until his length of stay at the shelter placed him on death row. SSR wouldn't let his story end there, though. After being out of the shelter for just a short period of time, we've discovered that Hasbro is simply a perfect dog - affectionate, well-mannered, gentle, playful, smart, and good with kids and other dogs. Our team simply loves him; he's the easiest rescue we've pulled yet! Any family would be lucky to add him to their pack. Story
I’M LOOKING FOR A GOOD LEADER:  2 years old / 52 lbs.      Hi, I’m Ro!  I was born into the Mostly Mutts program and adopted as a puppy, but my home did not work out/wasn’t a good fit (read below for more details). So, I’m back with Mostly Mutts looking for a dog savvy family who knows the herding breeds well and will be active with me and provide good leadership for me to follow. • OTHER DOGS/CATS/KIDS:  I met dogs recently at Mostly Mutts and did well with the male dogs.  No female dogs in my new home please as I am a dominant female. / No cats per my former owner. / No kids as I was too much for the approximately 7-year-old in my former home as I growled at her, was jumpy with her, tried to herd/nip her etc. and she was afraid of me.  I also met a nice boy and a girl around 10 years old at Mostly Mutts and stared at them very intensely when they ran.  Since I also don’t want to share my people, it is best I do not live with kids.   • PERSONALITY/ENERGY LEVEL:  Mostly Mutts is working to get to know me better, so please feel free to ask questions about me.  I am a herding breed and have shown my natural instinct to herd young kids by nipping at them.  This is not meant as a mean behavior – it’s instinct, so keep this in mind and give me an outlet to be active with you!  My former family reported that I had started growling, barking, and jumping at children and strangers, so they stopped letting me be around people.  They also reported that I bit 2 men in 2021.  I have shown some apprehension of a few men at Mostly Mutts (shivering, hiding, possibly guarding) but I’ve also shown that I really like some of the men I’ve met who have shown me that they think I’m great! This has been observed while I was with my Mostly Mutts trainer.  I was sweet and friendly with the photographer when it was my turn to have my pictures taken.  Other volunteers have reported that I’m quiet, friendly, a bit head shy, and calm for my leashing including when a harness was tried on.  I also haven’t shown any food or toy aggression. One of the nice volunteers took me to have dinner on the outside deck of a restaurant and I was so calm greeting all the dogs and enjoyed watching all the people and dogs nearby. / I have a high energy level at 6 – 8, possibly higher, which is typical of my breed mix, so I’ll want a family that will be active with me, so we’ll all be happy.  • SKILLS/CRATE/POTTY:  I'm enrolled in the Mostly Mutts University training program and have already mastered the ‘sit’, ‘down’, ‘stay’, ‘come’, ‘place’, ‘drop it’, and ‘leave it’ commands.  I also accept nice strangers without jumping and I look forward to learning even more!  I have been great during my training sessions – very engaging, great eye contact, wants to learn and do what you are teaching me, etc. / I’m doing well in my little room at Mostly Mutts. / I’ve had just a few potty accidents on the shelter schedule. • LIKES/DISLIKES:  I love my training sessions, playing with tennis balls, spending time with the volunteers, going for walks (though I was afraid of the traffic one evening).  I really like going for long trail walks/hikes during my daytrips with the nice volunteers.  I got to swim on one of my hikes and loved it!  / I get very nervous during car rides even though I like to go on adventures so please make sure I am buckled in securely.  Due to my breed, I’m sure I don’t like being bored and I need an outlet for my energy.  I’m not a fan of some men, or young kids.  See above profile for other possible dislikes.  I wouldn’t like it if I didn’t get enough love, attention, exercise, and training. • MEDICAL:   I'm current on vaccinations, micro-chipped and spayed. So, if you know my breed mix and are a good leader with time to spend training and exercising with me, let’s meet!  My adoption fee is $299.00, and I’m located in Kennesaw, Ga.  June 1, 2023, 6:54 am

Story
A SWEET AND FUN PLAYMATE:  2 years old / 35 lbs.  Hi, my name is Kendrick!  I came to Mostly Mutts from animal control.  I was grateful for my freedom ride, happy for the care I am receiving from the shelter volunteers and am excited to meet my new family – hopefully soon!  • OTHER DOGS/CATS/KIDS:  I met dogs recently at Mostly Mutts and I am a dominant male as well as an intense player.  As play went on, I was more comfortable with the dogs.  If you have a more submissive female dog at home who may enjoy my style of play, let’s meet and see if we can be pals.  / Cats unknown. / I met a nice 10 year-old girl at Mostly Mutts and liked her.  I also really enjoyed going on some fun daytrips with two nice 12 year-olds.  I was a just a little jumpy so kids 10+ may be a good fit and of course, let’s meet! • PERSONALITY/ENERGY LEVEL:  I am a friendly, sweet fellow who could probably win an award for ‘Best Personality’ from the volunteers who come to care for me.  My fun, playful nature is sure to be a hit in my new home, so let’s have lots of adventures together!  I got to go on some fun trail walks recently and was so well behaved in the car, never barking at any of the other dogs, chipmunks or birds.  The nice volunteer who took me out described me as “playful and happy with such a great disposition!” / My energy level is 5-7.     • SKILLS/CRATE/POTTY:  I am a student in the Mostly Mutts University training program, where I am learning lots of great doggie commands with my trainer.  So far, I’ve mastered the ‘sit’, ‘stay’, ‘down’, ‘come’, ‘leave it’, and ‘drop it’ commands and – though a bit jumpy at first – I have shown myself to be a nice leash walker.  Check back soon to see what else I have learned. / My crate manners are good at Mostly Mutts. / I've had just a few accidents on the shelter schedule.  Please continue to be consistent with me on a good schedule, so I can master my potty skills.  • LIKES/DISLIKES:  I like being with people – always excited to see them, and I LOVE to play.  My favorite spot at the shelter is the play yard.  Spending time there with the volunteers makes me a happy guy, so having a nice, fenced yard in my new home would give us a great place to play fetch – my favorite game!  In addition to going for walks and playing with toys, I like belly rubs and just lying around outside with my people.  I also love Nylabones, and Pup-Peronis are a great treat for my continued training!  Splashing around in the stream is great fun so I may be a water dog in the making!  Car rides are great, too, so let’s go everywhere together!  / I can’t think of any dislikes, though I’m sure I wouldn’t like it if I didn’t get enough love, attention, exercise, and training. • MEDICAL:  I'm current on vaccinations, micro-chipped and neutered. I am looking for a loving home where I will be a cherished family member!  My adoption fee is $299.00, and I’m located in Kennesaw, Ga.  June 1, 2023, 6:54 am

Story
A HANDSOME FELLOW:  3 years old / 65 lbs.  Hi I’m Shervin, but I answer to the name Hank (please refer to Shervin though when inquiring about me as that’s the name all of my records are under).  I was adopted as a puppy but ended up spending 10 – 12 hours alone daily, so that’s not been good for me, and I’ve developed some challenges.  Mostly Mutts is helping me with those and I got to participate in the prison/foster training program and learned a lot! • OTHER DOGS/CATS/KIDS:  I’ve met other dogs in the prison/foster training program and can be around them, but when they get in my face, I do NOT like that, so no dogs in my new home.  I can be around dogs as long as they leave me alone, for walks and such, I just shouldn’t live with one. / My former family said that I should NOT live with cats or any other small pets. / I met a nice boy and a girl around 10 years old at Mostly Mutts and liked them, so a home with kids ages 10+ could be a good fit for me.  Let’s meet!  • PERSONALITY/ENERGY LEVEL:  The trainers in the prison/foster training program have spent time with me to discover more about my personality.  When I was in the whole cell block and areas that I considered “my home,” I was a normal, happy and playful boy, but when I’m in a new area or outside, I tend to be nervous and scared.  This can be common in dogs that were left alone a lot or left in a yard too much.  However, a couple of tosses with the tennis ball helps me loosen up!  My confidence and comfort meeting nice strangers and having new people around me is continuing to improve as I spend more time with my trainer and the nice shelter volunteers.  Since returning to the shelter from the prison/foster training program, I have been most comfortable playing with tennis balls in the private play yard, but I am getting more comfortable walking on leash on the sidewalks near the shelter.  I have gone on a few daytrips with some nice volunteers and enjoy the quieter trail walks over the busy parks.  I still need some time to adjust so please be patient with me in my new home. / My energy level is 6 - 8, so I’ll need regular exercise which I think was lacking in my former home, to be my best.  • SKILLS/CRATE/POTTY:  I’m a proud graduate of the Mostly Mutts University training program so I’ve learned the ‘sit’, ‘stay’, ‘down’, ‘come’, ‘drop it’, ‘leave it’ and ‘place’ commands.  I also use proper door etiquette and have good leash manners as well as accept nice strangers without jumping.  / My crate and room in the prison/foster training program and shelter is my happy place so I’ll want a nice crate in my new home to feel happy and secure. / My former family reported that I was potty trained and I’m doing pretty well in the prison/foster training program too.  • LIKES/DISLIKES:  I really enjoy some quiet time each day and don’t think I’d like to live in a busy home with a lot of people coming and going. I also like tennis balls, hanging out with my people and playing and relaxing in a fenced yard with my family.  So, a fenced yard is a must in my new home.  I also enjoy a quiet trail walk where I can dip my toes in a stream.  / I was wary of some strangers in my former home which looked a bit like aggression to them. I haven’t shown this since coming back to Mostly Mutts.  I am fearful of spending much time outside, but I am working on this with my trainers and taking Prozac to see if that will help.  I wouldn’t like it if I didn’t get enough love, attention, exercise, and training. • MEDICAL:  I'm current on vaccinations, micro-chipped and neutered.  I’m taking Prozac now to help with my outside fears.  I may not have to stay on this medication in my new home. I’m looking for a family that leads their dog well and will spend time enjoying and training me.  My adoption fee is $299.00, and I’m located in Kennesaw, Ga.  June 1, 2023, 6:54 am
