Story
Meet Rocko! Rocko is a very handsome happy boy with the most adorable nose freckles and a wiggle butt that goes non-stop from morning to night. He is about 6 years old and 50 pounds. Rocko is crate trained and house trained. He opens the crate with his nose when told “kennel up.” He makes a soft little grunt/whine noise and carries his bone from his crate to the back door to let you know he needs to go out. Rocko absolutely loves people and bonds quickly! He gives lots of kisses and likes to snuggle on the couch while his foster dad watches sports. It’s clear that he was very loved in a previous home. He came to ARMA through a shelter partner when his previous owner fell ill and was no longer able to care for him. He lived in a home with another dog and did very well during his dog tests at the shelter. He’s not had much play time with his foster sisters yet because he was decompressing and is now recovering from his neuter. We will post details on those interactions once we know more! Rocko also loves balls that he can hold in his mouth. His retrieve is solid, and his foster is working on release! Rocko can walk on a leash but could use some training, as he zig zags on walks. He’s a quiet guy in the house. He also rides nicely in the car and is a good boy for grooming. We will add more to Rocko’s bio soon, but in the meantime, don’t hesitate to apply for this very special boy! If you’re an approved adopter and interested, reach out to the ARMA volunteer who conducted your home visit. Rocko is fostered in Alexandria, VA. https://aussierescueofthemidatlantic.org/applications-2/

Story
Meet Hamish Hamish is a 4-month-old black tri Australian Shepherd with charm for days and a personality as big as his puppy paws. He truly believes the world is his stage—and that everyone he meets was put here to adore him. Spoiler alert: they usually do. This happy, social boy loves to play and would thrive in an active home, ideally with a dog sibling who can keep up with his enthusiasm. Chasing a ball is one of his favorite things, and he could happily do that all day. After long walks and playtime, he’s perfectly content curling up for naps. Hamish is cat-friendly. He knows better than to chase them, though he occasionally gets a little carried away with sniffing and earns a gentle reminder from his feline friends. Hamish is very intelligent (named after Constable Hamish Macbeth from the beloved Scottish series). He already knows sit, lay down, and shake. Like most puppies, his follow-through still needs polishing, but he is eager to learn, highly food-motivated, and doing an amazing job so far. As a puppy, he will need continued training, structure, and socialization to help him grow into the incredible dog he’s meant to be. Because he is young and people-oriented, Hamish cannot be left alone for long hours. He is looking for an engaged, committed human who has the time and energy to invest in a bright, affectionate puppy—and who’s ready for a lifetime of love, laughter, and adventure. Hamish’s good qualities are endless, and wherever he lands, he is sure to bring immeasurable joy to his forever family. To apply to adopt Hamish, please apply through Aussie Rescue of the Mid-Atlantic (ARMA) at https://www.aussierescuemidatlantic.org

Maple & Mixy! A perfectly balanced bonded pair looking for their forever home. Meet Maple Your calm, cuddly best friend wrapped in a fluffy red coat Maple is a gorgeous red bi female, weighing about 60 lbs, with an adorable nub tail, striking bi-colored eyes, and a soft, thick coat that practically begs to be pet. She has a gentle, loving soul and a calm presence that instantly makes you feel at home. Once Maple meets you, her sweet personality truly shines. Maple is the more mellow half of her bonded pair. While she enjoys running around and playing with her sister, she has a lower energy level and prefers meaningful time with her people over nonstop activity. She’s an affectionate certified cuddle bug who loves to sit next to you… or right on you if space allows. Personal space? Optional. She’s a dream companion — smart, food-motivated, and eager to please. Maple already knows sit, down, stay, and shake, listens well, and walks nicely on a leash. Toys aren’t really her thing, but she’ll happily chase a tennis ball if it means spending time with you. Maple is excellent with other dogs, confident when meeting new pups, and enjoys playing appropriately. She’s calm, social, and incredibly loving — the kind of dog that seamlessly fits into just about any home. Her cuddly nature, gentle demeanor, and steady confidence make her an absolute joy to have around. If you’re looking for a loyal shadow, a couch companion, and a heart-melting presence by your side, Maple is truly something special.

Story
Meet Olive—the Red Merle Rocket with a Heart of Gold in Search of Her Forever! Looking for a sidekick who’s equal parts athlete, genius, protector, and snuggle bug? Meet Olive—a 2-year-old, 30-pound Australian Shepherd with a full tail, a red-merle coat, and a master’s degree in being awesome. Olive is the adventure buddy of your dreams: Car rides? She’ll call shotgun. Walks and hikes? Lace up those shoes. Ball, tug, or swimming? She’s got Olympic-level enthusiasm. Training? She’s smarter than your average reality show contestant and learns new things faster than you can Google “how to tire out a herding dog.” She knows her basic obedience! Olive is crate trained (it’s her safe space) and house-trained. She’s also been exposed to dock diving and LOVES it! But let’s talk personality: Olive is playful and happy, but her love language is quality time. She doesn’t need to be in your lap every second—just near you, close enough to know she’s your number one. Now, a couple of ground rules from Olive herself: Men? Sorry, fellas, this girl prefers ladies. Quality girl time! Any men in Olive’s life will need to be gentle, kind, and have the patience of Job. Kids? Herding small humans is apparently “not acceptable,” so better to keep her world adult-only. Other pets? Also a no-go. Olive wants to be your one and only diva—and honestly, she deserves it! Apartment life? Nope. She’s a “room to roam” kind of gal. What Olive does want is an active home—someone who understands that Aussies are wired for fun, structure, and the occasional zoomie or splash. A fenced yard would be her dream playground, but what she really needs is someone willing to give her love, patience, and the occasional car ride with the windows down. From Olive (probably): “Listen, I’m cute, smart, and athletic—basically the total package. I just need someone who gets me: no men, no other pets, and plenty of walks, hikes, or games of fetch. In return, I’ll be your co-pilot, your trail buddy, your secret keeper, your best friend and maybe even your alarm clock (sorry in advance). Swipe right… I mean, apply today. Let’s make this forever thing happen!” Olive is fostered in Kingsport, TN.

Story
❤️Cora is looking for a place to call home❤️ Cora is a spunky and lovable mini red-bi Australian Shepherd, estimated to be between 2-3 years old and weighing about 35lbs. She is being fostered in Gaithersburg, Maryland. Cora had a rough start before arriving at the shelter as a stray, but since coming into the rescue, she has truly blossomed. After being welcomed into ARMA, she quickly discovered the joys of indoor life, cozy blankets, a comfy bed, and the warmth of the fireplace. But what she treasures most of all is love. Cora is a velcro dog through and through and thrives on affection and cuddles, which help her continue to build trust and confidence. When Cora first arrived, she was battling an untreated ear infection, internal parasites, and heartworms. Despite everything, her spirit has never wavered. She is currently receiving treatment and can complete it in her new home. Cora loves to play! She’ll happily thrash her toys around while sprinting full speed through the house, and she enjoys bones, puzzles, lick mats, and long walks (though she could use some work on her leash skills). While she’s a medium-to-high energy girl, she also has a great “off” switch and will gladly curl up beside you on the sofa for a nap after a good play session. She is both crate and potty trained. Cora absolutely adores her people and is a fan favorite with most adults she meets. However, she would do best in a home without young children or other pets. Her foster is working with her on basic commands, resource guarding, and some reactivity, which she is making steady progress on. Cora will need an experienced, committed adopter who understands the importance of continued structure, consistency, and positive reinforcement training. With patience, guidance, and a dedicated family, Cora will have so much love to give. In the right home, she will blossom into an incredibly loyal, devoted, and deeply bonded companion.

Story
Meet Miko! He is a precious boy about 10-12 months old and still underweight at about 45 pounds. He has a beautiful chocolate and white bi-colored coat with a full tail. Miko was found as a stray and turned into one of our veterinary partners who asked if we could find him the perfect home. Miko knows a few basic commands and is learning more each day. Miko is very motivated, and training is fun with him! He will definitely need more leash work. He’s crate trained (though not a huge fan) and is pretty much potty trained. Miko loves people and enjoys snuggling and giving kisses. He will even climb into your lap. Miko is playful and enjoys running laps in the yard and chasing his ball. Miko does not show a huge interest in other toys but will occasionally carry a stuffed animal around. However, he loves bones, treats, treat puzzles and his lick mat! Miko will need mental stimulation and exercise. He enjoys neighborhood walks as well. Miko loves other animals including cats, other dogs, and farm animals! He shows no signs of chasing behaviors or aggression. Miko would do well as an only pet, so long as he gets lots of love and stimulation! However, he would also do well with another playful friend to zoom around with! Miko is so smart and loving! He shows no resource guarding or food aggression and is truly just a big, happy baby! He will be a great match for an active family that is willing to continue training him through his puppy behaviors! He would likely do best in a home where he is not crated for long periods of time and can get energy out throughout the day! He does have a nice "off" switch and enjoys napping with his foster family and the other animals. He sleeps well throughout the night! Miko is fostered in Elizabethton, TN. https://aussierescueofthemidatlantic.org/applications-2/
