Story
Maya (known as Sydney in her foster home of 4 months) is a beautiful, smart, gentle and sweet girl. She is very loving, playful, eager to please, and house-trained. She has a very short tail and when she sees someone she loves, her whole body wiggles! She is very intelligent and quickly learned the names of her various toys and often figures out what you want her to do before you even ask. She loves to be outside in the yard with her person and her canine buddy; walks in the neighborhood she likes, but walks in the woods she loves. She wants to be your best friend and do everything you ask, but sometimes the world is a little too scary for her. She can be slow to warm up to new people and places, and likes to have a "safe space" all her own. She is cautiously happy to meet most women and some men, but she is timid with older men. She therefore is unlikely to do well in a home that includes an older man, but would likely do well in a home with a younger man. Although she has had very limited exposure, she seems fine with children. She has been fine (but shy) with the cat in her foster home. She is initially timid around most dogs, but would probably do well sharing a home with a confident, playful dog, and as you can see from the videos, once she's comfortable with another dog, she loves to run and play! Maya will need a meet and greet before proceeding with an adoption. She was rescued by HART after being surrendered to a shelter; we don't know where she lived before that. She has made steady progress coming out of her shell, but will need a person(s) who has some experience with anxious dogs and will be very patient and loving with her. Questions About this Animal? Story
Meet Schmoop! This 9 week old spunky little fluff is a sweet, energetic guy who will make the best addition to any family! He is currently being fostered with his sister, “Sugar Booger”, and they spend their days wrestling and running around in the backyard and once their energy runs out, they love to cuddle up together in the dog bed. Schmoop would certainly love having a canine playmate in his forever home or an active family! He is catching on quickly to potty training and is very good about going on pee pads AND he sleeps through the night like a champ! We have no idea what their parents were as these guys were dumped in a yard in Mississippi so we cannot guarantee breed mix or adult size. Based off their looks, we are saying they are Aussie mixes and based off their current size and paws I would say they would be in the 50 to 60 pound range full grown! But don’t just take my word for it, apply to come see him today and meet your new best friend!! Adoption Day: February 14th at PetSmart Tysons Corner from 10:00–11:00 AM, an approved adopter must be present to adopt. *How it Works* Pups are in foster care for at least 3 weeks. Once on the website, they are available for adopters to apply for a Meet & Greet. Applicants will then talk and meet with the foster after being connected via our Adoption Coordinator, this only happens if you apply! If you are chosen by the foster to adopt the puppy and you want to move forward in adopting, there is a deadline to submit your adoption application in order to adopt the puppy on February 14th. If you are a chosen adopter, you would go to whats called the "private adoption" on said date. Public adoptions are for selected animals that did not get adopted yet and it is a first come first serve basis and adopting on the spot that day. Some pups may be part of the public event—check our Facebook page closer to the date to see if this pup will be attending the extra fun! ##2639042##

Story
Meet this sweet little girl She’s an adorable, super-cuddly puppy who truly believes her favorite place in the world is right next to you. She loves to nap pressed against your shoulder, curled up on your stomach, or tucked into the crook of your arm—basically anywhere she can be close and cozy. When she’s awake, she’s playful and curious, happily entertaining herself with her toys and showing off her fun, puppy energy. She’s also very smart and already paper trained, which makes her an impressive little learner. If you’re looking for a puppy who’s equal parts snuggle buddy and playful companion, this affectionate girl is ready to steal your heart Adoption Day: February 14th at PetSmart Tysons Corner from 10:00–11:00 AM, an approved adopter must be present to adopt. Story
Hi there! My name is Ray, short for 'Radar.'  That is because, you got it, my magnificent, perky ears!  I don't miss a thing!  Especially when I hear the sound of a hand reaching into a bag of my doggie treats.  I love running and playing with my foster sister so I would make a great companion pet. I also love my daily walks. I am working on gaining confidence when I'm out on walks and improving daily.  I do check the boxes for housetrained, dog friendly, kid friendly, all around people friendly and SWEETNESS.  Did I mention I sleep through the night! I warm up quickly when I first meet people and I love cuddles.  I have a heart full of love and wating for that person/family to welcome me into their home. Accuracy is not guaranteed; however, information provided is accurate to the best of our knowledge.  For more information on the pet, please send an email to info@aforeverhome.org February 4, 2026, 9:27 pm

Story
Meet Maple & Mixy! A perfectly balanced bonded pair looking for their forever home. Maple and Mixy are 2½-year-old bonded sisters who complement each other beautifully. Both girls are friendly, do great with children, and love attention. They are located in Ft. Washington, MD. Meet Maple Maple is a red bi female weighing about 60 lbs, complete with an adorable nub tail and striking bi-colored eyes. She has a soft, thick coat and a very gentle soul. Maple has a calm, loving personality that truly shines once she meets you. Maple is the more mellow half of her bonded pair. While she enjoys running around with her sister, she has a lower energy level and prefers meaningful time with her people over constant play. She’s an affectionate cuddle bug who loves to sit next to you.....or right on you! Maple is smart and food-motivated, already knowing sit, down, stay, and shake. She walks nicely on a leash. While toys aren’t really her thing, but she’ll happily chase a tennis ball

Story
Meet Rocko! Rocko is a very handsome happy boy with the most adorable nose freckles and a wiggle butt that goes non-stop from morning to night. He is about 6 years old and 50 pounds. Rocko is crate trained and house trained. He opens the crate with his nose when told “kennel up.” He makes a soft little grunt/whine noise and carries his bone from his crate to the back door to let you know he needs to go out. Rocko absolutely loves people and bonds quickly! He gives lots of kisses and likes to snuggle on the couch while his foster dad watches sports. It’s clear that he was very loved in a previous home. He came to ARMA through a shelter partner when his previous owner fell ill and was no longer able to care for him. He lived in a home with another dog and did very well during his dog tests at the shelter. He’s not had much play time with his foster sisters yet because he was decompressing and is now recovering from his neuter. We will post details on those interactions once we know more! Rocko also loves balls that he can hold in his mouth. His retrieve is solid, and his foster is working on release! Rocko can walk on a leash but could use some training, as he zig zags on walks. He’s a quiet guy in the house. He also rides nicely in the car and is a good boy for grooming. We will add more to Rocko’s bio soon, but in the meantime, don’t hesitate to apply for this very special boy! If you’re an approved adopter and interested, reach out to the ARMA volunteer who conducted your home visit. Rocko is fostered in Alexandria, VA. https://aussierescueofthemidatlantic.org/applications-2/
