Story
Meet Mia ❤️ Dog Friendly | Kid Friendly | Cat Friendly Heeler looking for someone to give her the chance she deserves. Mia is a 4-year-old, 50 lb red heeler with a heart that is somehow even bigger than her story. After getting out one day, she returned home unable to use her back legs — and sadly, no medical care was sought for months. Mia had been dragging herself, leaving wounds on her back legs and living in a way no dog ever should. When Mia first arrived to us, she couldn’t walk more than a couple steps without falling. It was clear she had gone far too long without the care she deserved. And yet… Mia never stopped loving people or trying her hardest to adapt. With supportive medical care — including steroids, bladder support medications, and surgery to treat early pyometra — Mia has made incredible progress. She now has motor function and pain sensation in her back legs and can walk on her own, though she may still fall, especially when she gets tired. One leg is a bit weaker than the other, and she has some remaining neurological deficits, but she continues to adapt and improve. 💛 What life with Mia looks like Mia is not a high-energy heeler — she’s the opposite. She’s happiest lounging in the sun, curled up next to her people, or soaking up all the love she can get. She doesn’t need long walks or big adventures. She just wants you. She will need a home that understands her physical needs: • May need help getting into cars or onto higher surfaces • Can do some stairs depending on setup (may need spotting) • Should have her feet protected on rough surfaces • Occasional accidents due to bladder challenges — improving with medication, but adopters should be prepared to continue working with a vet We don’t know exactly what caused Mia’s injury, and getting definitive answers would require advanced imaging and a neurology consult. What we do know is this: she has come so far, and she’s ready to be loved exactly as she is. 💛 The perfect home for Mia • Lower-energy, patient home • Someone comfortable with a dog that may have some simple physical challenges • Mia can live in a home with cats that enjoy play. However older cats who don’t appreciate play may not be a good fit for Mia. • Dog friendly - understanding that Mia can’t physically participate in crazy zoomies and wrestling. Calm canine companions would be the perfect match for her! • Mia has lived in a home with kids in her previous home and in foster, but supervision is important with any real littles — she can lose balance and accidentally knock them over • Would be best fit in a house (she can be vocal if she hears a bunch of excitement outside!) 💛 A few Mia-isms (because she’s still a heeler 😂) • VERY food motivated • Will bark at outside noises, people, and passing cars • Not a fan of vacuums • Mild food guarding — easily managed by feeding separately in her crate • Sleeps great in her crate For those who have met Mia, one thing is universally agreed upon: She is pure love. She is the kind of dog who bonds deeply, who looks at you like you are her entire world, who doesn’t need perfection — just someone willing to show her the life she always deserved. Mia has already been through more than most dogs ever should. Now it’s her turn for the good part. This sweet girl deserves a chance. We know the unknowns might make you scroll on, but we promise if you meet her in person and see just how special she is, you will see just how worthy she is of a loving forever home. She will bring joy to your life, and without a doubt is the missing piece your home is looking for to be complete. Mia is eligible for our foster to adopt program, meaning you can take a couple weeks getting to know each other in your home before making it official. ----------------------------------------- If you’re interested in adopting, please apply online at mscrescue.org/adopt. Once approved, we’ll work with you to ensure it’s a great fit—and if it’s not, no worries! We’ll help you find the right match. All of our dogs are adoption-ready and come: •️ Spayed or neutered •️ Heartworm tested •️ Dewormed •️ Up-to-date on prevention medications •️ Up-to-date on age-appropriate vaccines •️ Microchipped •️ With a coupon for a free Simply Dub collar from Dubdog Designs

Story
Meet Koda ❤️ Koda is an 8-year-old red heeler mix who is incredibly smart, loyal, and looking for a very specific kind of home where he can truly thrive. Koda recently lost the only home he’s ever known because his family is growing and Koda has a tough time adjusting to the unpredictable nature of children. While that transition has been tough, he’s already starting to settle and show us who he really is. Each day, he’s becoming more relaxed and comfortable in foster care —but he will need a patient, committed adopter who understands that trust and learning a new routine takes time. The Basics • Potty trained & crate trained • Lived successfully with a small dog (mini dachshund) most of his life after a very slow and thoughtful introduction • He wants to be part of a “pack” Home Requirements Koda would do best in an adult-only home or one with older, respectful children (8+). He is not comfortable with young kids, especially if they are loud, unpredictable, or in his space. He will need slow, thoughtful introductions to other dogs, and at this time, would do best as the only dog or with a very experienced home willing to manage introductions carefully. No cats due to his prey drive. What He’s Working On Koda can be reactive on leash and in the yard, especially toward people and other dogs. He may lunge, bark, and pull, so he will need someone physically capable and committed to continuing his training. The good news? He is incredibly intelligent and already working on improving his leash manners in foster care. Breed Traits & Needs Koda is every bit the cattle dog he was born to be—smart, driven, and full of energy, even at 8 years old. He is not a “yard-only” or “couch potato” dog. A fenced yard alone won’t meet his needs. To truly thrive, Koda will need: • Daily physical exercise (hikes, walks, running) • Ongoing training and structure • Mental enrichment (puzzle toys, tasks, or a “job”) Personality Koda is a good dog with a big brain and a loyal heart. He isn’t overly cuddly, but he does show affection in his own way—whether that’s relaxing next to you on the couch or simply wanting to be near his person. He’s happiest when he has purpose and engagement. For the right person, someone who understands working breeds and is ready to invest in him, Koda has the potential to be an incredibly rewarding companion. If you’re looking for a smart, active dog and are ready to give Koda the structure and commitment he deserves, he just might be your perfect match. ----------------------------------------- If you’re interested in adopting, please apply online at mscrescue.org/adopt. Story
Meet Lola 🖤🐾 Lola is a one-year-old Lab/Heeler mix with a big personality, a bigger heart, and energy for days. At around 55–60 lbs, she’s still very much a playful puppy who is learning the ropes—and she’s looking for an active home ready to help her grow into her best self. Lola is incredibly affectionate and people-loving. She thrives on attention and connection, and at the end of the day, her favorite place is curled up next to her person enjoying some well-earned snuggles. She’s also very smart and highly treat-motivated, which makes her a great candidate for continued training—she wants to learn and is eager to please. She already has a solid foundation: • Crate trained and keeps her kennel clean • Potty trained • Walks well on a leash (though she may get excited and pull at first—especially if something catches her eye!) Lola does best with medium to large dogs who can match her playful, high-energy style. She loves to play but can get a bit mouthy and overly enthusiastic, so she’ll need continued guidance to help her learn appropriate boundaries. Because of this, she’s not a great fit for small dogs or small animals, as she may unintentionally overwhelm them. Like many young, high-energy dogs, Lola has had some destructive tendencies when left alone, but this improves with structure, enrichment, and appropriate outlets like chew toys and exercise. She’s still learning—and with consistency, she’ll continue to make great progress. This girl loves water, toys, and playtime, and she’ll thrive in a home that can give her plenty of physical activity and mental stimulation. A bored Lola is a mischievous Lola—so keeping her engaged is key! One important note: Lola is a fence jumper (she can clear a 6-ft fence), so she’ll need supervised outdoor time or a secure setup to keep her safe while she continues learning. Lola may be a little rough around the edges, but it’s all typical puppy behavior—and underneath it all is a loving, loyal dog who just wants to be close to her people. With patience, structure, and love, she’s going to make an incredible companion. If you’re looking for a fun, active dog who will keep you moving and reward you with affection and personality, Lola is ready to meet you. 💙 ----------------------------------------- If you’re interested in adopting, please apply online at mscrescue.org/adopt. Story
My name is Ace, and Im an eight-year-old cattledog mix with a quiet heart and a gentle spirit. Ive lived enough life to know what matters: kindness, patience, and a place where I can simply be myself. Im shy at first, not because I dont want love, but because I want to be sure Im safe before I give you all of me - and I promise, I will.

I imagine a home with older children who understand soft voices and slow movements, a place where I can take my time learning the rhythm of the family. I can share my world with other dogs, especially those who, like me, have traded wild zoomies for peaceful afternoons. I dont need constant play or excitement; I just want companionship, understanding, and a warm spot to rest.

If youre looking for a dog who will quietly weave himself into your life, who will trust you deeply once he knows he can, then maybe youre the home Ive been waiting for. Im ready for my forever - I just need someone willing to let me arrive at my own pace.

My name is John, and Im a three-year-old Blue Heeler mix with energy to spare and a heart ready for adventure. If youre the kind of person who loves getting outside, exploring new places, and staying active, I think we might be a perfect match. Im the kind of dog who lights up the moment you grab a leash or toss a ball - playtime, walks, hikes, you name it, Im in.

Im also a pretty smart guy, if I do say so myself. Give me a treat and a little direction, and Ill absolutely crush any obedience class you put me in. Learning new tricks, practicing good manners, working my brain - its all just as fun to me as a romp in the park. Speaking of parks, I love those too.

What Im really looking for is a family whos as excited about life as I am. Someone who wants a buddy to join them on trails, in the yard, or wherever the next fun moment happens to be. Bring the whole crew to meet me so we can see if were the adventure team Ive been dreaming of.

Story
Gonzo is the class clown of the his litter — and he proudly owns the title of Most Likely to Cause Mischief. Gonzo and his family were brought into rescue alongside their devoted mama, Callie. Now this 60% Australian Cattle Dog and 20% Pitbull Terrier mix is safe, growing fast, and putting all that puppy energy to good use… mostly by finding new ways to be silly. Gonzo is the life of the party. He loves to play, chew on anything that looks remotely chewable, and bark just to hear his own voice. If there’s a toy nearby, he’ll grab it. If there’s another puppy nearby, he’ll wrestle it. And if there’s a quiet moment… Gonzo will probably fix that. This goofy boy is full of personality and puppy antics. He’s curious, bold, and always ready for the next adventure — even if that adventure is just zooming around the room or proudly carrying a toy twice his size. Beneath all the chaos, though, Gonzo is a sweet, happy pup who loves attention and will happily be apart of your adventures for years to come. Gonzo will thrive in a home that’s ready for all the fun (and training!) that comes with an energetic working-breed mix. With patience, playtime, and plenty of chew toys, this silly boy is going to grow into an amazing companion. If you’re looking for a puppy who will make you laugh every day and keep life interesting, Gonzo might just be your guy. Gonzo's adoption fee is $275 and includes all age-appropriate vaccines, neuter, microchip, and heartworm prevention. Story
Meet Ziggy! This boy is a super speedy ball of energy and FUN! You absolutely can never get bored with him around. It's difficult to tell in a photo, but he is a super fun sized guy weighing in at only 38 lbs.! He's the perfect fit if you're looking for someone who can kick it with the big dogs, and has a big personality, but in a compact size! Ziggy is about 5 years old, he loves to play with his friends and definitely keeps us all laughing with his goofy, zoomie personality. Ziggy craves social interaction, from humans and other dogs. His previous owner left him alone on a tie out often, which caused him to have some separation anxiety. Having other dogs to play with has definitely helped him in this area, but he will still need a home where he will not be alone long hours of the day everyday. He would also do best in a home with a canine companion to play with. Ziggy will need an active family, he is a fun loving, high energy dog. He would not be an appropriate fit for someone who does not have the time to give him a lot of daily exercise and activity. Ziggy loves kids, but he is pretty hyper and needs to work on manners, so he may be to much for small toddlers and babies. However, older kids would be okay. Ziggy needs at least a 6 foot fence for any home with a yard, he can jump a four foot fence. Ziggy would be best in a home without cats or really tiny dogs as he wants to chase and play and is just a little to much for them. He is crate trained and should transition into housetraining quickly. If you have another dog, we will want to introduce them to ensure that they get along well.

These pups are in Shawnee, Kansas too!

Story
Giselle Paris was adopted in Feb 2019. She has been a wonderful addition to our family and is full of love and personality. We had another dog when we got her and it took them about a year to adjust to being together, but has been mostly without incident unless food has been involved. There have been a few occasions when the dogs have become aggressive with each other when food has been involved. Giselle (Gelly) has only even been aggressive when prompted- food, come at, yanking her hair while brushing, etc- very normal situational things. We have gone years without incident, but as she has aged she’s gotten a bit more then we can handle with a toddler in the home as well. Gelly is a sweetheart who loves with her entire heart and soul, she comforts you when you’re upset, she protects you from thunder and the mailman. She is VERY food motivated. Her birthday is 7/1/2018, she is up to date all on things, she does take anxiety meds once daily. She needs a home where she is the only dog.
