Story
ABOUT ZEUS Zeus came to HAP after his owner passed away. At 7 years old, adjusting to shelter life after living in a loving home has been challenging for him. However, once he realized we all think he’s the cutest guy, he started to warm up to the place! Zeus has become a bit of a celebrity around HAP. Our animal caretakers often take him on walks through the building, where he happily stops to greet all his human friends. In true bully breed fashion, he can be a little stubborn, he now insists on visiting his friends after his outdoor walks. What can we say? The love has become an essential part of his routine! When he’s not soaking up attention, Zeus is a laid-back, easygoing senior pup who enjoys chewing on bones and going for short, leisurely walks. He is friendly with new people, easily won over by treats, and very affectionate. He enjoys long car rides, showing off his tricks, and melting into his friends for love! Given his age and size, Zeus is a low-maintenance companion who spends most of his day lounging or napping! If you are interested in adopting this dog, please submit an adoption questionnaire! Our adoption process is on a first-come, best-match basis and we are not able to hold animals. If you are interested in this specific dog but it ends up not being the best fit upon meeting, our adoption counselors will work with you to help find a match! All household members, including children and other dogs, must come along for the meeting to make sure it's a good fit. If a match is made, we encourage same-day adoptions! Our adoption fees include the animals' spay/neuter, microchip, age-appropriate vaccinations and preventatives, fecal testing, heartworm testing, and a small bag of food to get you started.

Story
ABOUT AJ Grab the tissues and fall in love. In 2025, a beautiful pregnant mama was abandoned on our property. Less than a week later, she gave birth to a litter of eight pups, so you can probably see where this is going. Adorable AJ was born safely in foster care, surrounded by love from the very beginning. As he grew, AJ faced his first big challenge. His foster noticed symptoms of parvovirus, a serious and often fatal illness. He was rushed in for emergency treatment, and thankfully, AJ pulled through like the little fighter he is. After recovering, AJ was adopted as a puppy, but his journey wasn’t over yet. As he got older, his adopters began to notice ongoing food sensitivities that went beyond the occasional upset stomach. Wanting what was best for him, they made the difficult decision to return him to the shelter when they realized they couldn’t meet his medical needs. Since then, AJ has undergone extensive testing and has been diagnosed with Irritable Bowel Disease (IBD). Thankfully, IBD is easily managed with a restrictive diet, so no table scraps for this guy! While AJ lost some weight in his previous home, due to IBD, he is now on a weight gain journey and making amazing progress! Despite all he has been through in this first year of life, AJ is a resilient, loving boy. AJ is a playful, joyful pup who brings a perfect mix of energy and affection wherever he goes. He walks beautifully on leash, even without a harness, and naturally sticks close by your side, making him a wonderful companion for strolls and everyday adventures. Anytime he is spooked or unsure, all it takes is a gentle crouch or a kind word, and he’ll come right over for reassurance, soaking up comfort from his person. AJ is bouncy, silly, and endlessly sweet, with a personality that’s hard not to fall for. He’s highly treat-motivated, which makes him eager to learn and a great candidate for continued training. While he hasn’t had the chance to fully play with other dogs yet, he’s shown friendly interest when passing them and has previously lived with dogs, suggesting he could do well with a canine companion! ADOPTION FEE SPONSORED BY DEDICATED SUPPORTER   Meet Tobias: 70 pounds of pure enthusiasm  Tobias is a 2-year-old big-headed goofball whose brain is mostly made of static, snacks, and love. He may not be winning any academic awards, but what he lacks in brain cells he more than makes up for in affection, wiggles, and wholehearted devotion to his people. This big dumb-dumb is looking for an energetic family who can keep up with his zest for life and doesn’t mind a little chaos mixed with a lot of laughs. Tobias would do best with older kids who can handle his size and enthusiasm—because at 70 pounds, his love sometimes comes at full speed.March 7, 2026, 9:03 am

Story
Meet Gracie Gracie is a big “little” puppy at heart and the ultimate cozy companion. Her favorite place in the world is snuggled under a blanket—but since she can’t burrow under covers herself, she’s looking for a human who’s happy to tuck her in for naps and especially at bedtime. She knows exactly what “bedtime” and “time for bed” mean and will happily follow you to bed, where she sleeps right by your side. Gracie is a gentle clinger in the best way—she’ll follow you from room to room to keep you company while still respecting your space. Her favorite words are “dinner” and “breakfast,” and she comes running when she hears them. She’s also a big fan of bananas (she always gets the last bite!) and cheese—so fair warning, she expects you not to be stingy. She enjoys going for walks but prefers her space from other dogs, so leash walks with distance are best for her. At home, Gracie is wonderfully quiet and low-energy. She doesn’t bark; instead, she may let out a tiny grunt when she’s excited. She’s a true couch potato who sleeps most of the day and is incredibly easy to care for. Gracie is very polite about bathroom time. She won’t bark to alert you—she simply sits quietly by the back door when she needs to go out, so paying attention to her subtle cues is important. After potty breaks, she expects her reward (she’s trained her human well), and she does the cutest little happy dance when she knows a treat is coming. One of Gracie’s most endearing quirks? She “sings” along (adorably whining) when she hears guitar music. It’s impossible not to smile. She is crate-trained and happily goes into her crate when her person leaves—especially since she always gets a treat first. Gracie does best in a large crate where she has plenty of room to stretch out and get comfortable. Gracie is a loving, loyal, and easygoing companion who has been deeply loved and spoiled. Due to a change in her person’s situation, they can no longer care for her, but they hope her next family will continue to spoil her just as much.March 7, 2026, 9:03 am
