Meet Russell! Breed: Boxer/Lab Mix Estimated DOB: 10/13/2022 Sex: Male Neutered Weight: 40-45 lbs Things To Know About Russell: - Rescued from Mississippi, Russell has faced challenges with bravery and is progressing steadily with TLC's care.- A true snuggle bug with those in his inner circle, Russell's affectionate side shines once he feels safe and loved.Russell demonstrates his adaptability. Initial one-on-one interactions with treats allowed him to remain calm and happy. if overwhelmed by larger groups, his crate provided a safe haven, proving how much he values his cozy retreat.- Quick movements or changes in his environment can startle him, but we're gently exposing him to various scenarios to build his confidence. Russell's comfort with familiar people and routines showcases his potential for growth in a patient, understanding home.- Due to his sensitivity to fast and unpredictable movements, a home without small children (teens or older) would be ideal, allowing Russell to thrive in a calm and stable environment.- Russell thrives on structure and routine. New experiences are best introduced gradually to keep him comfortable and ensure positive encounters.- Known for his quirky sleeping positions on couches and chairs, Russell's antics will keep you entertained.- He's a toy enthusiast - any toy will do, and he's always up for playtime.- Mastery of commands like "sit," "down," and "stay" coupled with his eagerness to please through food motivation, presents great opportunities for bonding and learning.- Medium energy level, balanced between playful activities and relaxing moments.- Enjoys exploring on leash walks and settles down well, whether in his crate or snuggling on the couch.- Housetrained and crate trained.- Dog friendly, Russell thrives in the company of other dogs and would benefit from a canine sibling.- Not particularly interested in cats.- Russell is a testament to resilience, affection, and the power of patient love. As we continue working on building his confidence and social skills, we're optimistic about finding him a forever home that understands his needs and celebrates his sweet, loving nature. ADOPTION PENDINGThough their names suggest otherwise, these puppies don't suck! Meet Kirby, a 9 week old male boxer/terrier/shepherd mix puppy who weighs about 15 lbs. Kirby, his littermates, and mama were picked up as strays when the puppies were only a few days old. We are grateful nothing terrible happened to this little family while they were out in the cold! Mama got to raise her puppies in the warmth of a foster home, and now they are ready to leave the nest and find families of their own. If you are looking for an adorable and friendly furry family member, look no further than this bunch! They all have their own unique look but have the same sweet disposition. They have been well socialized, so they enjoy being with people and meeting new friends and other dogs. Being equal parts playful and snuggly, they'll fit seamlessly into many different families. They seem smart and eager to please too! We have no doubt these pups will grab the attention of everyone around them as they grow up - we've never seen a cuter bunch! Please help us find these adorable pups the forever homes they've been dreaming of!Interested in adopting? Story
Petunia is a 2 year old spayed female boxer/terrier mix who weighs 32 lbs, but could stand to gain some weight. Petunia was rescued after being found as a stray. We have no idea how this little love ended up alone having to fend for herself, but we have promised her it'll never happen again! If you are looking for a devoted companion who will join you on adventures AND lazy days on the couch, Petunia is your girl! She has the sweetest disposition and makes friends very easily. Everyone who has encountered her has commented on how sweet she is! Petunia's tail never seems to stop wagging. She's learning a lot in her foster home, and her foster family has learned a lot about her. Much to their surprise, she loves water and jumps in the pool for a swim willingly! She is great with other dogs and kids, and will surely make a wonderful addition to the family willing to give her a chance. Please help us find Petunia the forever home she so desperately deserves!Interested in adopting? Spayed or Neutered,
Story
Peach is the mama of the year! Her story is one of resilience and mama bear smarts. Peach is a 3 year old spayed female boxer/staffie mix who weighs 45 lbs. Her rescue story began as a stray, roaming a peach tree orchard. Kind folks kept watch and when she showed up again looking very pregnant a plan was put into place to try to capture her and bring her to safety. It was winter, and frigid temperatures were forecasted. This street-smart mama eluded capture and ended up giving birth to her puppies in a crawl space under a church, choosing a far corner where heat billowed out of a vent. Temperatures were in the single digits, so the fact that Peach found such a warm spot undoubtedly saved her puppies' lives. Mama was trapped safely, and her puppies were rescued from the crawl space. The little family was transferred to a foster home and Peach had the opportunity to dote on her puppies without worrying about survival. They were warm, fed, comfortable, and loved. Peach was a wonderful mama and was so grateful for the kindness she was shown by her rescuers and foster family. Now that her puppies are old enough to find homes of their own, mama is ready too! Peach has been a dream companion and doesn't ask for much. She is an active girl who loves to play and run around outside. She'd love a big fenced in yard at her forever home and boy does she deserve anything she wants after surviving such hardships and keeping her little family alive. Peach is crate trained, seems house trained, and is overall pretty quiet and easy-going. Being with her people is her favorite thing, meeting new human friends with ease. If you are looking for an adventure buddy, Peach is your gal! As long as she is with you, she is happy! The devotion she shows for her people is unwavering. While she loves people, she's been selective when it comes to other dogs. Given her history and having to fend for herself, we don't blame her for being untrusting in this way. After everything she has endured, Peach deserves to be the center of her family's attention as the only pet. We understand there aren't many homes looking for a dog that prefers to be a solo companion, but that won't stop us from searching far and wide for someone who will devote themselves to Peach just as she will to them. Please help us find this remarkable dog the forever home she so desperately deserves!! Interested in adopting? FOSTER NEEDED! Garrett - this big, young man is sweet and strong, around 2 years old. We think he has boxer, hound (long legs) and probably some pit in him but a dominate breed impacted his height. He is tall and strong. He is playful with other dogs, rough houses with dogs his own size but tones down his behavior with puppies. He is nuts about playing with his empty metal bowl and now a big white bucket. He also loves stuffed toys but destroys them along the way.  He is currently in a foster home for a rescue in Tennessee with several humans, lots of dogs and pups and cats.   If you can foster this gorgeous boy, please email   nicole.foreverhomerescue@gmail.com   for information regarding fostering.  Foster to adopt available and while the dog or pup is in foster- medical care is provided.  Click this link:   https://www.shelterluv.com/matchme/adopt/FHPA/Dog   He is neutered, heartworm -, on simparica trio,  crate trained. Story
Shandy Female Boxer mix 60lbs 7 years old Good with older children Good with bigger dogs after careful introduction Not recommended with cats or small dogs Appropriate for city living? No Recognize Shandy? This is her second time looking for a home through Finding Shelter but through no fault of her own! Shandy is a loving, loyal, happy, protective dog. She loves the people she considers family with all of her heart, but she gets anxious on a leash sometimes when new people approach quickly. Unfortunately, in the first home that adopted her, Shandy was permitted to interact with a child who approached her while she was on a walk and she nipped the child. Not her fault, not the child’s fault. Despite supporting all our adoptions with a lifetime of behavioral consultations and advice from our trainer, we were not notified of any issues or the bite until two weeks before her adopters were moving and wanted to return her. Behavior and management help was offered and declined. Thankfully, Shandy is pretty much the same dog we have always known and loved she was just incredibly depressed to be without a family again. Dogs know what they are missing when they lose their homes and Shandy is no exception. She knows that she lost what we all thought was her family forever but for Shandy not all hope is lost. Shandy needs a very experienced and dog savvy home with people 100% committed to working with her and properly managing her at home and outside of her home. She is a good dog she just unfortunately had some very back luck. It’s time to turn that luck around. Will you be her lucky charm? www.findingshelter.org
