Story
You can fill out an adoption application online on our official website.Meet Louie, an adorable ball of fur overflowing with sweetness and playfulness, ready to steal your heart. Louie's enthusiasm for life knows no bounds, especially when it comes to his love for walks and exploration. He sometimes pulls on the leash but with a little training and patience this can easily be corrected. Louie's love for food makes him the ideal candidate for training sessions, as he eagerly responds to treats and positive reinforcement. Louie's affectionate nature shines through, making him a wonderful companion for those willing to provide him with guidance and love. His feelings towards other dogs and cats are situational. With proper introductions and socialization, Louie could make furry friends for life. If you're in search of a loyal and spirited companion, consider giving Louie a forever home filled with love and adventures.Visit this organization's web site to see any additional information available about this pet.  ********************************************************************************** We show some of our adoptable dogs at PetSmart, Utica, each Saturday between the hours of 11:00am and 3:00pm.  Cats typically don't do well at events, so they only attend with a pre-approved meet and greet appointment. Story
You can fill out an adoption application online on our official website.Bio from rescuer: Please contact directly if you can assist with this sweet girl <3 Hello. This is Roxy. She goes by Roxy, Rox, or her favorite, ROXER! We took her in Xmas eve last minute, from her owner of 10+ years, who was going to put her down if he didn’t find a home due to “not having time for her anymore.” She is 13/14 years old. Boxer mix. She has a growth on her leg that her prev owner said was non cancerous and didn’t need to be removed, but it affects her walking to where she has a limp. She is such a sweet girl and would do good in a home w older or less hyper dogs. Or at least trained dogs! she just needs a good home! She’s still playful and very energetic! She enjoys lots of cuddles! Grew up around kids, dogs, and cats! ? She is also spayed and housebroken! She loves loves loves lots of cookies (aka dog treats haha). Located in Saginaw MI Please help me find this girl a great forever home. My number is 4053975880.Visit this organization's web site to see any additional information available about this pet.  ********************************************************************************** We show some of our adoptable dogs at PetSmart, Utica, each Saturday between the hours of 11:00am and 3:00pm.  Cats typically don't do well at events, so they only attend with a pre-approved meet and greet appointment. Story
Sweet Princess was on her own outside for weeks before we could catch her. She is heartworm positive. Would you be willing to host this pretty pitty girl for a few months while she goes through her heartworm treatment? This sweet pup needs a foster home! Princess is heartworm positive and will be treated by our rescue. Princess is well behaved and housetrained. She has been gentle with cats and calm around other dogs. She’s eager to please and wants to be near humans more than anything else. She loves car rides and meeting new people. She's just learning to play, and a calm home environment will allow her the rest and relaxation she needs as she undergoes this treatment. If you live in the Detroit area within 30 minutes of Warren and have room in your heart to foster this amazing pup, please contact us. Story
Coco A18723949 lb. spayed female, approx 3 years old -This sweet girl may take a moment to warm up, but a few snacks were all it took to win her over! She was a little unsure about the leash at first, but once she sniffed me out and accepted a treat, she was easy to loop and came out nicely. She walks at a slow, steady pace and seems to really enjoy taking her time.-In the yard, her favorite place was right beside me. She’s a gentle, somewhat timid girl who can be a little head shy. She has an eye that appears to have limited vision, so quick movements around her face can make her flinch. She is receiving treatment for it, and hopefully with some time, drops and medication, she’ll feel more comfortable.-She’s very treat motivated, knows how to sit, and takes treats beautifully. Toys? Not her thing! She’d much rather focus on her two favorite things: snacks and snuggles. She even gives the sweetest little kisses.-She’s a low-key, low-energy girl who seems happiest simply being close to her person. If you’re looking for a gentle companion who would be perfectly content curled up beside you, this little lady may be your girl!-Seems non reactive to dogs nearby and may do well living with a fur sibling after slow and proper intros Unknown behavior with dogs/cats/kids•Meet all of our adoptable pets on our website friendsofdacc.org/adopt •Please keep in mind that the shelter can be a very stressful environment. •Studies show that a minimum of 3 days decompression drastically lower stress hormones and allow the dog to show more personality after they have settled in. •There is a suggested donation of $100 for our dogs, payable by cash, check or through paypal at the time of the adoption. •To meet them please go to front door and a DACC staff member will assist you with adoption or fostering. **And when coming to meet one of our dogs, please bring all the humans with you, but leave any current dogs at home. Staff will go over how to slowly and properly introduce them after a decompression period.** •The shelter is open 7 days a week from 10:30-5:30, except for Wednesday when we open at 11:30**We ask that if you’re looking to adopt, you arrive before 5:00 to be able to have enough time to meet the dog. **1431 E Ferry St. Detroit

Story
--FOSTER PUPDATE--Banana Pudding A18503162 lb. neutered male, approx 1 1/2 years old -I'm a big happy boy with lots of puppy energy! I love to play fetch, or play with the rope, or play with stuffies, or play with bones, or just run around and play!-Overall I'm quite gentle, but I'm still learning not to jump. I'll need some time and extra training before I'm ready to be off the leash around kids. -I'm treat motivated, and take them gently (even apples and lettuce). I can sit, and I'm learning "stay." -I'm very good on a leash and love to stroll through the neighborhood and meeting all the new people. I'm nonreactive to passing dogs. -I'm playful with my foster sibling, but she doesn't like to play. I'd do well with a playful fur sibling, after slow and supervised introductions. -Once I'm relaxed, I'll smother you with cuddles and lean in for neck rubs. -I like laying in the sun and staring out the window, especially if I'm sitting near my people -I'm crate- and potty-trained! Sometimes I sing for a few minutes before I settle down for sleep, but it never lasts long. -I'm good in the car and would make an excellent road trip companion. This pet is in a foster home! If you are interested in meeting Banana Pudding, please email foster@friendsofdacc.org with subject line “Banana Pudding A185031”Meet all of our adoptable pets on our website friendsofdacc.org/adoptThere is a suggested donation of $100 for our dogs, and $40 for cats payable by cash, check or through paypal at the time of the adoption.
