Story
**7/23/26- as i have been unable to find him a home, and no non-kill shelter that will take him, i will be forced to surrender him to the animal control shelter who will put him to sleep, please contact me if you can help.Bentley is a boxer mix about 2 years old, Bentley is LOVES to be petted, he is extremely affectionate, and has a lot of energy. Must have a leash on outside, won’t bark in the house, but will bark outside. Not mean at all, loves people, friendly towards new people but again lots of energy. If you want an extremely affectionate dog that has plenty of energy this is the dog for you.

Story
Sweet Princess was on her own outside for weeks before we could catch her. She is heartworm positive. Would you be willing to host this pretty pitty girl for a few months while she goes through her heartworm treatment? This sweet pup needs a foster home! Princess is heartworm positive and will be treated by our rescue. Princess is well behaved and housetrained. She has been gentle with cats and calm around other dogs. She’s eager to please and wants to be near humans more than anything else. She loves car rides and meeting new people. She's just learning to play, and a calm home environment will allow her the rest and relaxation she needs as she undergoes this treatment. If you live in the Detroit area within 30 minutes of Warren and have room in your heart to foster this amazing pup, please contact us. Story
Royal King A18669438 lb. neutered male, approx 2 years old -This sweet boy was understandably nervous when he first stepped into the yard, trembling as he took in all the new sights and sounds. He quickly discovered that a lap and some reassurance made him feel much safer. After a few minutes of cuddles, his nerves settled and he began venturing out to explore on his own. Before long, he was coming right back to me and putting his paws up to ask for more attention.-He’s a skinny little guy who is very motivated by treats, which should make helping him learn his manners a lot of fun! He patiently sits for his snacks and was already making great progress with taking them more gently by the end of our time together. He’s receptive to learning and clearly wants to figure things out.-He isn’t interested in toys just yet, but he does enjoy affection and gives a few sweet kisses here and there. He also walks nicely with minimal pulling. Once he realized he was safe, we got to see more of his sweet personality come through. He’s a gentle boy who may just need a little patience, reassurance, and time to realize that the world isn’t so scary after all.-Seems non reactive to dogs nearby and may do well living with a fur sibling after slow and proper intros Unknown behavior with dogs/cats/kids•Meet all of our adoptable pets on our website friendsofdacc.org/adopt •Please keep in mind that the shelter can be a very stressful environment. •Studies show that a minimum of 3 days decompression drastically lower stress hormones and allow the dog to show more personality after they have settled in. •There is a suggested donation of $100 for our dogs, payable by cash, check or through paypal at the time of the adoption. •To meet them please go to front door and a DACC staff member will assist you with adoption or fostering. **And when coming to meet one of our dogs, please bring all the humans with you, but leave any current dogs at home. Staff will go over how to slowly and properly introduce them after a decompression period.** •The shelter is open 7 days a week from 10:30-5:30 **1431 E Ferry St. Detroit

Story
Dagmar A18668637 lb. neutered male, approx 2 years old -This handsome boy walks nicely on leash and is an absolute lap dog! He’s sweet, gentle, and clearly thinks the best place to be is as close to you as possible. He loves cuddling, attention, and especially belly rubs. Once the pets start, he gets so excited that his little legs go flailing everywhere! 😂-He likes treats, takes them nicely, and is working on his sit. He’ll sit briefly, but then starts creeping closer with his little tippy taps or an occasional jump because he just wants to be right there with you. He’s not currently interested in toys—people are much more exciting!-He’s a little on the skinny side, but he’s absolutely adorable and has such a sweet, affectionate personality. His photo shoot was a bit of a challenge because sitting still was apparently far less important than scooting closer to his favorite person.-And that sad face? Don’t let it fool you…he is NOT sad! 😂 He’s just got a naturally serious little face.-Seems non reactive to dogs nearby and may do well living with a fur sibling after slow and proper introsUnknown behavior with dogs/cats/kids•Meet all of our adoptable pets on our website friendsofdacc.org/adopt •Please keep in mind that the shelter can be a very stressful environment. Story
Mr. Wiggles A18629237 lb. neutered male, approx 10 months old -This handsome boy’s name is definitely fitting! He loves to spin and wiggle and romp around. He’s very goofy!Despite all his spunk, he walks very nicely on a leash. -He’s playful and seems to get a kick out of “shucking and jiving” to try to get away from you. It’s all a game to him and is adorable. Don’t worry…he ends up giving in and coming back for pets and lovin in the end! Toys on the other hand, seem to be a little scary. This little yellow ball went flying past him and he ducked! “Lady, what did I ever do to you!” 🎾 I tried to get him to engage with multiple different toys and he just wouldn’t.-Inside it took him a while to settle in. He was initially nervous, but in time, he laid between my legs for pets and all his worries melted away. I even got a few little kisses!-He is food motivated, sits most of the time (puppy brain) and takes them nicely-Will need some puppy training. Please keep that in mind if you want a puppy. They require time and patience to be the best that they can be! -Seems non reactive to dogs nearby and may do well living with a fur sibling after slow and proper introsUnknown behavior with dogs/cats/kids•Meet all of our adoptable pets on our website friendsofdacc.org/adopt •Please keep in mind that the shelter can be a very stressful environment.
