--FOSTER PUPDATE--Banana Pudding A18503162 lb. neutered male, approx 1 1/2 years old -I'm a big happy boy with lots of puppy energy! I love to play fetch, or play with the rope, or play with stuffies, or play with bones, or just run around and play!-Overall I'm quite gentle, but I'm still learning not to jump. I'll need some time and extra training before I'm ready to be off the leash around kids. -I'm treat motivated, and take them gently (even apples and lettuce). I can sit, and I'm learning "stay." -I'm very good on a leash and love to stroll through the neighborhood and meeting all the new people. I'm nonreactive to passing dogs. -I'm playful with my foster sibling, but she doesn't like to play. I'd do well with a playful fur sibling, after slow and supervised introductions. -Once I'm relaxed, I'll smother you with cuddles and lean in for neck rubs. -I like laying in the sun and staring out the window, especially if I'm sitting near my people -I'm crate- and potty-trained! Sometimes I sing for a few minutes before I settle down for sleep, but it never lasts long. -I'm good in the car and would make an excellent road trip companion.This pet is in a foster home! Vernor A18677638 lb. neutered male, approx 1 year old -This young guy is a sensitive soul who needs a little time to feel comfortable, but once he does, there’s a really sweet and playful personality waiting to come out. He walked nicely overall, although doorways were a little intimidating at first. -Outside, he was clearly taking everything in and needed some reassurance, but what stood out most was that even while he was unsure, he kept choosing to come back to me for pets and attention. That tells me he really does want to connect with his person.-He wasn’t quite sure what to do with treats at first. He would happily lick them, but couldn’t quite bring himself to take them from my hand. When I dropped them for him, he would play with them instead. Little by little, though, his curiosity started winning out. I tried a playful bow and a little floor-slapping invitation, and suddenly he was off doing zoomies! He’d race around and then come right back looking for more attention.-Inside, he needed some time to settle into the new environment. I eventually gave him some space and focused on my paperwork, and that turned out to be exactly what he needed. When I looked back over, he had decided that those treats he had previously been unsure about were actually pretty fantastic! Soon he was happily eating them, bouncing excitedly for more, and showing me that he knows “sit” and takes treats very nicely.-Then came another little breakthrough—he grabbed a toy and even played with it briefly! By the end, he was back to seeking out pets and attention and giving kisses.-He’s a young guy who is still learning about the world and discovering that new experiences can be okay. He just needs someone willing to give him the time and patience to find his confidence. Once he feels safe, his silly, playful, affectionate side starts peeking through, and I have a feeling there’s a whole lot more personality waiting to emerge. -Seems non reactive to dogs nearby and may do well living with a fur sibling after slow and proper intros Unknown behavior with dogs/cats/kids•Meet all of our adoptable pets on our website friendsofdacc.org/adopt •Please keep in mind that the shelter can be a very stressful environment. •Studies show that a minimum of 3 days decompression drastically lower stress hormones and allow the dog to show more personality after they have settled in. •There is a suggested donation of $100 for our dogs, payable by cash, check or through paypal at the time of the adoption. •To meet them please go to front door and a DACC staff member will assist you with adoption or fostering. **And when coming to meet one of our dogs, please bring all the humans with you, but leave any current dogs at home. She walks beautifully on leash without pulling and has the cutest little happy, wiggly waddle as she goes!-After a quick exploration of the yard, she came over to me for some attention. She’s a little unsure about touch at first, but the more time we spent together, the more comfortable she became. A few times when I reached toward her belly or back end, she froze for just a moment, but she always recovered quickly and came right back to me. She really wanted to connect; she just needed a little reassurance along the way.-She’s very food motivated, which is a great way to win her heart. She already knows how to sit—often without even being asked—and takes treats incredibly gently.-She wasn’t interested in toys today, but inside, with some time and patience, she made a huge breakthrough. She eventually settled between my legs, completely relaxed, and flipped over for belly rubs. It was the first time I saw her truly let her guard down. And then came the kisses! -She’s a gentle girl who just needs someone willing to give her the time and patience to feel safe. --FOSTER PUPDATE--Cinnamon A18682053 lb. spayed female, approx 2 years old -Cinnamon is shy at first, but warms up once she knows she can trust you, usually after a few gentle sniffs. Treats definitely help! Once comfortable, she’ll happily come sit beside you for pets, but she’s not demanding and is perfectly content just being near her person or laying in the other room independently. Overall, she is very chill! -She has not had any accidents in the house and seems to be potty trained, she always does her business in the backyard usually followed by rolling around in the grass enjoying the sun! She walks nicely on leash without pulling, although she’s still learning that walks are meant to be fun and may need a little encouragement and direction when on said walk!-Cinnamon is very non-reactive dogs on walks. She simply notices them and keeps moving. She is a bit hesitant to get in the car but once she’s in, she enjoys sniffing the fresh air and sticking her nose out the window.-She is comfortable in her crate and can be left alone for a few hours without fussing or getting into trouble. But she mostly enjoys her own bed where she can enjoy catching up on her sleep. -She doesn’t have much interest in toys, but her favorites so far are her snuffle mat, Kong and, surprisingly, chasing the vacuum around the house!-Cinnamon is still learning to trust people and discover all the good things a comfy home has to offer. She may not be the dog who immediately runs up for attention, but once she feels safe, she’ll quietly choose to be by your side. She would love a patient person who will give her the time and consistency she deserves.This pet is in a foster home!
