Story
This is Henry, an 11 month old boxer mix. Henry was abandoned as a puppy and we adopted him when he was 3 months old. He’s great with people. We have two young kids who he is amazing with. We have a senior dog who he also gets along with. However, Henry has not had luck getting along with other dogs during initial encounters. Unfortunately Henry has become aggressive towards our neighbors’ dog on multiple occasions and we do not have the time or resources to address this behavior at this time. He has had previous success getting along with dogs he’s initially aggressive towards. We are devastated that we have had to make the decision to find him a new loving home, but are confident that with the right training, Henry will be very successful with other pets. Henry is full of energy, a quick learner, a huge cuddler, loves his chew toys, and is potty trained. He also knows basic commands. He will be neutered prior to rehoming. Henry is full of love!

Story
Roger had a rough start as a stray, but he`s ready to leave his past behind and find a loving forever home where he can thrive.Roger is a bundle of energy and loves to play! He`s very playful and enjoys interactive toys and games. Roger is also quite smart and knows his basic commands such as sit, shake, and down, showing his eagerness to learn and please. Roger gets along well with other dogs and loves to engage in playtime. His playful nature means he would do best with doggy friends who enjoy romping around as much as he does.We recommend a home with older children, around 10 years old and up, who can appreciate Roger`s playful energy and participate in his activities. Roger`s new family should be committed to continuing his training and providing him with plenty of exercise and mental stimulation. With his resilient spirit and playful demeanor, Roger is sure to bring joy and laughter to his new home. If you`re looking for a loyal companion to join your family adventures, Roger might be the perfect match for you!If you are interested in adopting me or another homeless pet at Macomb County Animal Control, walk-in adoption hours are Monday-Friday from 10am-4pm. **BISSELL EMPTY THE SHELTERS ADOPTION EVENT TAKES PLACE FROM 7/8 - 7/31. Story
Everyone, meet Boomer!Boomer is a 1 year old, sweet and energetic Boxer looking for an active family who can keep up with his playful nature. As a young pup, he`s still full of energy and loves to play with his canine friends. He`s looking for someone who can provide him with plenty of exercise and playtime to keep him happy and healthy.Boomer is a very smart boy but doesn`t know many commands yet. He would love a family who will be patient with him and teach him new tricks. He also needs some brushing up on his manners. He is a very nice boy but doesn`t realize how big he is and likes to jump. Boomer enjoys playing soccer in the yard!As he`s still getting to know cats, it`s best to introduce them slowly and under controlled circumstances to ensure a smooth transition. With patience and consistency, he may learn to coexist with feline friends.Boomer is up to date on all of his vaccinations but will need a regular veterinarian to make sure he stays happy and healthy. If you`re an active family or individual who loves dogs and is willing to provide Boomer with the exercise he needs, he could be the perfect companion for you!If you are interested in adopting me or another homeless pet at Macomb County Animal Control, walk-in adoption hours are Monday-Friday from 10am-4pm.My adoption fee is $50

Story
**In foster care and not at the kennel. Please submit an application at k9stray.com to discuss Gilmore further** Such a darling little pout and lots of chocolatey goodness! Gilmore is estimated to be about 18 months old and weighs 45 pounds. Gilmore is outgoing, fun spirited and loving, always leaning in for cuddles and pets. This cutie is also playful, taking joy in squeaky toys and being silly! He's such an explorer too, so curious about the world and investigating everything. We just picture him being the best fun friend anyone could ever have. Gilmore does need a little work on jumping up for attention, but he looks to you for direction and guidance, he has tons of potential. He would love an active family who likes to spend time with him and where any children are at least 4 years old. Gilmore has so much love to give, he really hopes you come to meet him soon. If there is another nice doggy sibling in the home, Gilmore would love to meet them. He has a soft, more submissive approach with other dogs. He seems a little unsure of what to do and keeps checking in with you. If you are interested in Gilmore and are at least 21 years old, please come to our kennel during business hours, make an appointment, or fill out an application at k9stray.com and an adoption counselor will be in touch. We look forward to helping you find your new best friend! *Please check your lease agreements for breed/weight restrictions prior to applying. We also do not do cat testing, so we do not know how a dog will do with cats. Not all dogs are available to go home on the same day you first meet.*

We do our best to provide information that will help determine if the animal might be a good fit for you. Please note that behaviors may change in a home environment. We also ask our applicants to assume that any animal they adopt from us will need to be potty-trained and learn house manners, although this is not always the case. In most cases, the listed breeds are also a best guess. Our online animal bios are designed to provide as much information as possible and answer some anticipated questions. We do not have the resources to respond to emails with more specific questions. We are receiving an unusually high number of applications at this time! Applications are reviewed as they are received, but we do not select adopters on a first-come basis. Our job is to ensure each pet is placed into the best fit home for them and that adopters are paired with an animal that is a good fit for their lifestyle. All animals will stay on Petfinder until they are “pending adoption”. Therefore, if an animal is still listed, we are still accepting applications for him/her! Please do not send inquiries about a specific animal's availability as this can change quickly over the course of the day. The fastest way to get a response is to simply submit an application! We will do our best to notify you by email if the pet(s) you are interested in are no longer available. New animals are posted daily, so please let us know if another furry friend peak your interest (there is no need to fill out a second application)! Fill out the application (DOG: https://service.sheltermanager.com/asmservice?account=dr1937&method=online_form_html&formid=26, CAT: https://service.sheltermanager.com/asmservice?account=dr1937&method=online_form_html&formid=41, EXOTICS: https://us14b.sheltermanager.com/onlineform_view?formid=46) completely. It could take up to a couple of weeks for you to receive a final disposition on your application so there is no need to check on the status.-Introductions will be scheduled by appointment only, 30 minutes per appointment. The entire household, including current dogs, must be present for the appointment. (Note: Please do not bring your dogs if you are meeting cats!).
