Princess is heartworm positive and will be treated by our rescue. Princess is well behaved and housetrained. She has been gentle with cats and calm around other dogs. She’s eager to please and wants to be near humans more than anything else. She loves car rides and meeting new people. She's just learning to play, and a calm home environment will allow her the rest and relaxation she needs as she undergoes this treatment. Citrus was living alone in an abandoned house with no doors or windows. We trapped her, and she got very upset. Citrus was growling for many many days, and did not allow any handling. She finally came around to trust us, and is now a loving sweetheart. Citrus wants an understanding foster-to-adopt home, who wants to baby her. She is estimated to be 2-4 years old, and a mix between English Bulldog and Boxer. Citrus has a classic cautious and disapproving yet personable English Bulldog personality, and the silly play style of a Boxer. We are looking for a household without children for Citrus. Leashed walks are fine, she does not require a fenced in yard. Citrus has dog friends at the shelter - but incorporating her into a home dynamic with other dogs will take weeks. Outside, she took a few minutes to explore and take everything in before finding comfort by plopping herself right between my legs for some pets and attention. She seemed like she wanted to break out into play a couple times, but just needs a little more confidence to let her personality fully shine!-Inside she was more relaxed and settled down right next to me, even giving me half her belly for some pets. 🥹-She likes treats, knows sit, and takes them nicely!-She was a little curious about toys but didn’t engage in play just yet. She may become more playful once she feels comfortable and settled in!-She walks very nicely on leash without pulling!-Overall, she’s a sweet young girl who just needs a little time, patience, and encouragement to help her confidence grow. --FOSTER PUPDATE--Banana Pudding A18503162 lb. neutered male, approx 1 1/2 years old -Super playful boy who loves being part of the pack. Loves toys and tugs, but his favorite is other dogs. He could play with his younger foster brother all day!-He loves to play! He goes all out with the puppy, but has learned to give our older dog her space.-He is very vocal! He sounds scared, or scary, but he's having a blast! It's just how he expresses himself. He settles down after a few minutes.-Crate trained and (mostly) potty trained! The last adoptive family reported a few accidents, but no problems in foster care. He stands by the door when he's ready to go out, does is business, then is ready to hang with his people again.-Great on a leash! He loves to stroll and may get distracted by the occasional squirrel, but non-reactive with passing dogs and super friendly with everyone he meets.-Does great in crowds. He's a regular at Eastern Market and makes friends with everyone he meets.-He's still working on not to jump, and needs to take play breaks every so often, but he's very treat motivated and eager to learn.This pet is in a foster home! Mr. Pickles A18749850 lb. neutered male, approx 1 year old-This handsome boy has lived in a home and reportedly lived with small dogs and cats. As with any dog coming from the shelter, slow introductions and time to decompress first will help him feel comfortable and set him up for a smooth transition.-He walks nicely without pulling and enjoyed exploring the yard, occasionally coming back to check in for some pets or snacks. He was a little unsure of the traffic outside, but once inside he came over to the blankets to spend some time with me. He sits for treats and takes them very gently, and when he’s comfortable, he’ll happily give kisses. He wasn’t interested in toys during our time together.-When I sat down in the chair, he came right over and jumped up beside me. He really seems to be looking for some reassurance and connection. I think this sweet boy is going to shine once he’s out of the shelter and has a patient person giving him the time he needs to settle in and feel safe.-And can we talk about that adorable underbite?! --FOSTER PUPDATE--Cinnamon A18682053 lb. spayed female, approx 2 years old -Cinnamon is shy at first, but warms up once she knows she can trust you, usually after a few gentle sniffs. Treats definitely help! Once comfortable, she’ll happily come sit beside you for pets, but she’s not demanding and is perfectly content just being near her person or laying in the other room independently. Overall, she is very chill! -She has not had any accidents in the house and seems to be potty trained, she always does her business in the backyard usually followed by rolling around in the grass enjoying the sun! She walks nicely on leash without pulling, although she’s still learning that walks are meant to be fun and may need a little encouragement and direction when on said walk!-Cinnamon is very non-reactive dogs on walks. She simply notices them and keeps moving. She is a bit hesitant to get in the car but once she’s in, she enjoys sniffing the fresh air and sticking her nose out the window.-She is comfortable in her crate and can be left alone for a few hours without fussing or getting into trouble. But she mostly enjoys her own bed where she can enjoy catching up on her sleep. -She doesn’t have much interest in toys, but her favorites so far are her snuffle mat, Kong and, surprisingly, chasing the vacuum around the house!-Cinnamon is still learning to trust people and discover all the good things a comfy home has to offer. She may not be the dog who immediately runs up for attention, but once she feels safe, she’ll quietly choose to be by your side. She would love a patient person who will give her the time and consistency she deserves.This pet is in a foster home! Winston, male pit bull mix (amputee) Winston was shot with a 12 guage rifle in November of 2015. He lost his leg because his owner failed to keep him in a safe environment (fenced yard). While he was wandering the area, he was shot in the leg. Unfortunately, he lost his leg, and his home after that, as his owner couldn't take responsibility for his vet care either. Winston is a ton of fun. Winston has a requirement for a fenced yard, and no other pets. He has accepted neighbors dogs after some time getting to know them through the fence in his foster home. He knows sit, fetch, leave it, and is house trained, crate trained (iif needed, but he's generally a good boy), neutered and a big lover.
