Must have a leash on outside, won’t bark in the house, but will bark outside. Not mean at all, loves people, friendly towards new people but again lots of energy. Citrus was living alone in an abandoned house with no doors or windows. We trapped her, and she got very upset. Citrus was growling for many many days, and did not allow any handling. She finally came around to trust us, and is now a loving sweetheart. Citrus wants an understanding foster-to-adopt home, who wants to baby her. She is estimated to be 2-4 years old, and a mix between English Bulldog and Boxer. Citrus has a classic cautious and disapproving yet personable English Bulldog personality, and the silly play style of a Boxer. We are looking for a household without children for Citrus. Leashed walks are fine, she does not require a fenced in yard. Citrus has dog friends at the shelter - but incorporating her into a home dynamic with other dogs will take weeks. He quickly discovered that a lap and some reassurance made him feel much safer. After a few minutes of cuddles, his nerves settled and he began venturing out to explore on his own. Before long, he was coming right back to me and putting his paws up to ask for more attention.-He’s a skinny little guy who is very motivated by treats, which should make helping him learn his manners a lot of fun! He patiently sits for his snacks and was already making great progress with taking them more gently by the end of our time together. He’s receptive to learning and clearly wants to figure things out.-He isn’t interested in toys just yet, but he does enjoy affection and gives a few sweet kisses here and there. He also walks nicely with minimal pulling. Once he realized he was safe, we got to see more of his sweet personality come through. He’s sweet, gentle, and clearly thinks the best place to be is as close to you as possible. He loves cuddling, attention, and especially belly rubs. Once the pets start, he gets so excited that his little legs go flailing everywhere! 😂-He likes treats, takes them nicely, and is working on his sit. He’ll sit briefly, but then starts creeping closer with his little tippy taps or an occasional jump because he just wants to be right there with you. He’s not currently interested in toys—people are much more exciting!-He’s a little on the skinny side, but he’s absolutely adorable and has such a sweet, affectionate personality. His photo shoot was a bit of a challenge because sitting still was apparently far less important than scooting closer to his favorite person.-And that sad face? He jumped right into my lap and immediately showed me how much he loves pets and giving kisses.-He has plenty of happy puppy energy and is very food motivated, which will be wonderful for training! Once the snacks came out, he was all about them—sniffing around to see where the goodies were coming from and eagerly waiting for his turn. He knows “sit” and takes treats nicely, with just a little puppy enthusiasm mixed in as he sometimes creeps closer or pops up for them.-After a little while, he settled in between my legs and happily enjoyed some quiet pets and cuddles. It was sweet to see him shift from busy puppy mode into cuddle mode.-He walks nicely with minimal pulling and is a fun, affectionate youngster who will be a blast to continue training and growing with. Winston, male pit bull mix (amputee) Winston was shot with a 12 guage rifle in November of 2015. He lost his leg because his owner failed to keep him in a safe environment (fenced yard). While he was wandering the area, he was shot in the leg. Unfortunately, he lost his leg, and his home after that, as his owner couldn't take responsibility for his vet care either. Winston is a ton of fun. Winston has a requirement for a fenced yard, and no other pets. He has accepted neighbors dogs after some time getting to know them through the fence in his foster home. He knows sit, fetch, leave it, and is house trained, crate trained (iif needed, but he's generally a good boy), neutered and a big lover.
