Story
She’s beauty, she’s Grac(i)e, she’s your new housemate!
Gracie is a 5‑year‑old, 48‑lb, black Boxer with the softest soul and the gentlest heart. After a hard start in a puppy mill, she is learning what it means to feel safe, loved, and home — and she’s doing it with quiet bravery every single day.
Her superpowers include being incredibly sweet and gentle, getting along beautifully with her small foster sister, and staying calm around other dogs on walks. She’s still learning to trust new people, but once she realizes you’re kind, she melts into the sweetest little companion.
In terms of house training, Gracie knows to go outside. Since her spay, she has been great about using potty pads if she needs to go in between breaks. She’s still learning how to tell you she needs to go, but she’s trying her best and improving with patience.
One of her biggest strengths is her love for her crate — it’s her cozy safe place. She naps there throughout the day, often surrounded by her “stuffie treasures.” Gracie is a stuffie connoisseur: she loves to sneakily gather every stuffie in the house and stockpile them in her crate like a squirrel hoarding acorns.
Her energy level is very low — she’s happiest with about 500 naps a day. When she does go outside, she’s making great progress on the leash. She walks slowly, needs patience in new areas, and sometimes forgets she’s supposed to follow you instead of the other way around. Once she knows a route, she does much better. A martingale collar is best for her, as loud noises can startle her.
Some of her favorite things are her squeaky stuffies, her crate, quiet naps, and gentle companionship.
If you’re looking for a soft‑hearted girl who wants nothing more than safety, kindness, and a comfy place to snooze, Gracie might be your perfect match.
Gracie is currently being fostered in the Cincinnati, OH area. Her adoption fee is $300.00.
To adopt this animal, please visit https://www.louieslegacy.org/adopt
All of our animals come spayed or neutered, up to date on age appropriate vaccinations, are microchipped, heartworm negative, current on flea/tick and heartworm prevention, dewormed, and treated for any ailments found upon veterinary examination. The adoption fee covers a portion of these services, and makes it possible for us to continue rescuing animals.
For more information on the adoption fees and the adoption process, please complete our adoption application here: https://www.louieslegacy.org/adopt - an application allows us to get to know your family better so we can assess whether the animal you are interested in is a good match for your home. An application does not obligate you to adopt. Please understand that due to the volume of applications some animals receive, we are unable to contact all applicants. If your application is considered a good fit for the animal you are interested in, or even a different pet, a volunteer will give you a call as soon as possible.
We are a foster based rescue and do not have a shelter location where animals can be seen during the week. Please see our Facebook page at https://www.facebook.com/LouiesLegacy for our weekly adoption album if you are interested in meeting an animal in person. Not all animals attend every adoption event, please check our Facebook page for animal event times and locations before you make a trip to meet a specific animal.
