Every question must be answered, and it must be signed.-Applicants must be 21+ years old and live within a 50-mile radius of our shelter at 22415 Groesbeck Hwy, Warren 48089.-You must identify at least 1 animal that you are interested in.Once your application is received, it will be assigned to one of our volunteer Adoption Counselors who will follow-up with the applicant who is the best fit within a few days, or to discuss other options. It could take up to a couple of weeks for you to receive a final disposition on your application so there is no need to check on the status.-Introductions will be scheduled by appointment only, 30 minutes per appointment. The entire household, including current dogs, must be present for the appointment. (Note: Please do not bring your dogs if you are meeting cats!). Transport is available to your area in the north east or Great Lakes areas. We use the most animal-friendly transport on the road. Rescue Riders Pet Transport. Meet Bella. She will freeze your thoughts, feelings and your heart with her frosty ice blue eyes. She is a beautiful energetic little lady. She’s pretty young around 2-3 years old with lots of energy. She does great with other dogs of her size or even larger ones too. She is fearful and snippy if she is in a crate meeting you for the first time. She’s just terrified and shaking. If you just sit with her a few seconds she jumps on your lap to make friends and all is good. Took her a whole three minutes to trust us and she was golden after that. Not sure of her mix but guessing Chihuahua and probably several other breeds. Her coat is medium length. She’s got the most gorgeous pair of knee high boots that nature can provide. That’s good news. She’s fashionable already and you don’t have to spend money on fashion statements. Her boots were made for walking but we are hoping someone will want to drive Miss Daisy home. Great with other dogs and older children (because of her size) she is tiny at about 10-12 lbs and about 1-1.5 years old. She was surrendered by her owners because they are older and could not keep up with her needs. She is just a young energetic little lady. Apply at petpath.org

This sweet little girl is Maude. Aka potato girl. I am caring for her until we can find her a permanent home. She ended up with us because her owner passed away and she did not have anyone to take her in… also- I have a soft spot for Chihuahuas. We don’t know how old she is, but it’s safe to say she’s a senior citizen. She is very very sweet, good with other dogs (has been around small and medium dogs), and is just happy hanging out. She’s great in the car, doesn’t mind being picked up, and loves being carried around so she would be a perfect companion to adventure with as long as you don’t mind carrying her (she’s only 3 lbs). Maude would also do great as a companion to a retiree who prefers a slow pace. If you can’t adopt her, please share so this sweet old girl can find her forever home. Contact me if interested.

Olaf, the chocolate Chihuahua, is about 4.5 years old and looking for the perfect, quiet home with someone who is familiar with anxious and fearfully reactive dogs. He would do best in a home with no children, and not a lot of visitors. Cats are a no go for Olaf as are most other dogs. He would be ok with one small, submissive, low-key doggie friend as he likes to play occasionally, but he isn't very good at normal dog play. We lovingly think of Olaf's personality as a cat trapped in a dog's body. Olaf takes a daily anxiety medication to help him feel safe in his everyday environment. Olaf will need an understanding and patient person that will allow him space and decompression time when he gets overstimulated. Olaf is crate trained and for the most part potty trained. However, like any small dog he isn’t a fan of going outside in the rain or cold. He walks wonderfully on leash as long as no off leash dogs approach him, and he also loves to travel in the car. He does like affection on his own terms and will let you know when he no longer wants attention. Olaf's perfect home will need to be willing to give him time and show him patience as he is settling in to your lifestyle, they must also be willing to continue working on training to ensure he lives a happy and safe life. Most importantly Olaf will need a person that is NOT expecting a snuggly lap dog. While he will occasionally snuggle and sit on your lap, it will only happen when he chooses it. His perfect person would be looking for a tiny, quirky shadow that is content with his mere presence as companionship. Olaf is spay/neutered, microchipped, current on vaccines, heartworm tested and on prevention. Adoption fee for Olaf is $350. I was found wandering the cold streets of Detroit and I really hope to find a nice comfortable home soon! I was really scared at first, but after a couple of days in my foster home, I was able to open up and start enjoying life. I have long legs, so I am really good at running. I love walks and exploring in the yard. I need slow introductions to other dogs and may be picky. I have ignored cats that I've met at adoption events but may like to chase. I am very sweet and affectionate, and I like to give kisses. I am vaccinated and neutered. I do have an issue with my eyes that will likely be lifelong. My eyes don't make tears so I will likely require eye drops lifelong, and several times a day. If you are interested in adopting me, please fill out an application. Microchips are implanted between the animals shoulder blades and are a permanent form of identification. The microchips are registered to Last Day Dog Rescue with the adopter's info added once adopted. If the animal is ever lost and slips his/her collar/tags the microchip allows the finder to know who to contact if scanned for a microchip. Animals MUST still have a collar with tags on at all times. Per our contract, we take all our animals back if for any reason you can't keep your adopted animal.
