Poppy will love you like no other. The line should perhaps read,  Poppy will love you but maybe no one else. One must truly understand the makeup of some Chi mixes, they sometimes pick their person and could care less about anyone else. Poppy will let other people know if she wants a pet from you or not quickly by showing her teeth and a bit of a growl. She has chosen my ten year old granddaughter as her person. I can pet and hold her most times except when she is laying down in her chair on the couch or her bed. She gets along with other dogs perfectly, cats too. She is not food or treat aggressive. She sleeps with my granddaughter but if she is off on a overnighter then I'm good enough to sleep with. She is house trained and house broken, hardly ever barks, walks great on a leash and is  a number one sun worshipper.  Poppy will let you sleep  In late before her morning potty break.  Her person/ family needs to understand that it would be best to remove her from the room when having company, not letting people especially small children around her in case she is in a diva mood. To the person she loves, she would perhaps lay down her life for you.. guaranteed she will sit, sleep and cuddle beside you forever. She prefers mid to soft foods after having her dental work done. She loves me when I make her her favorite meal of chicken breast and rice served in her green and white bowl. While Poppy comes with some baggage to the person/ people who understand she would make a good family member who is just asking for love and understanding. She was saved from the streets of Mexico, so no one knows her back story but you could be her happily ever after.   We’ve got some exciting news about this pup’s age! Thanks to DNA testing from Embark, we’ve got a fresh take on how old they really are. A big shoutout to Embark for generously donating these tests for us to explore! You might spot a difference between Embark's findings and our original guess—after all, no test or person is 100% accurate. It’s all part of the adventure! Adoption fee includes: Full veterinary exam, Alter, Dental, Prepaid microchip, Dewormed, dental, Rabies vaccine (if age appropriate), Distemper combo vaccine(s) appropriate to age, Bordetella vaccine, 4DX (over 6 months of age), Flea/tick and heartworm preventative while in rescue. Story
Who’s looking for a sweetheart of a pup? A tail-wagging, morning snuggling, happy pup? Chubbington (I call him Mr. Chubs) is a Chihuahua mix with an estimated birthdate of March 2020. As his name implies, he is a tad overweight, so he is on a diet right now (and he's lost weight!). He loves natural treats like bananas and apples. He’s very smart and knows sit. We’re working on wait, stay, and down. Yes, he’s a little older, but no less fun or playful. He has a good balance of being active on walks and chill indoors; unless of course you whip him up during playtime! Mr. Chubs loves to sit on your lap, but he’s not needy about it. He will go lie in his bed or on different chairs, then come back to you for some snuggle time. Plus he doesn’t seem to be a “one person” type of pup. He’s happy in whatever lap he’s in at the time.  Mr. Chubs is fully house trained. He doesn’t necessarily tell you when he has to go, but going out on a schedule works beautifully. He’s never had an accident or marked in the house and is able to go all night without a problem. He loves to go for walks but does pull on the leash because it’s a big world out there and there are tons of things to sniff and mark and chase. Again, he’s very smart and training him to heel should go quickly. He’s been really good meeting people on walks and has met a number of dogs well. Again, he gets so excited he jumps and spins a lot. He seems to do very well with larger dogs, so maybe he had a big dog in his earlier life. He is not too crazy about the kennel. Ok, he hates going in. He resists going in and will bark for a bit when you first leave, but then he settles down and is quiet.  I’m slowly introducing him to being left outside the kennel, then watching on camera to see what he does. So far so good, he hasn’t destroyed anything or gotten too stressed. Another thing he’s not too crazy about is having his nails trimmed. He may need some medication in order to accomplish that. For a five-year-old dog, he can be exuberant, especially at first. He will play bite and jump up, which could scare smaller children. Once that initial burst is out, though, he’s a good little pup just looking for some scratches. Again, training should work very well for him as he’s so smart. He is a stuffed-toy destroyer, but the harder chews and kongs keep him occupied. He’s so funny because when he first gets the chew toys he tries to hide them all over the house. Mr. Chubs also loves car rides and wants to ride shotgun but is fine tethered in back seat. If you’re looking for a little fun bundle of love, Chubbington is your guy.   Adoption fee includes: Full veterinary exam, Alter, Prepaid microchip, Dewormed, Rabies vaccine (if age appropriate), Distemper combo vaccine(s) appropriate to age, Bordetella vaccine, 4DX (over 6 months of age), Flea/tick and heartworm preventative while in rescue. Story
Meet Zoe, a Chihuahua born approx 3/7/2020. Zoe is a sweet girl who has had a lot of transitions in her life. She can be a little slow to warm up, but once she does, she is very cuddly. She has seemed to attach strongly to the mom of the house and does get anxious when she leaves, but eventually settles down. She’s been alone up to 6 hours, has been free floating around the house, and has not had any accidents or destroyed anything during that time. Zoe is house-trained, and scratches at the door when she needs to be let out. She is not kennel trained. She has been great with our 3.5 year old daughter. Initially she was respectful and a little afraid of our cat, but she has had a few instances of lashing out toward the cat, She has been great with our small dog, and has met other big dogs on leash and has reacted positively. She loves walks, and while she pulls sometimes, she is easily redirected. Zoe is a medium energy level. She loves running off-leash on our acreage, but can also curl up on the couch and be content. In the car Zoe wants to ride on your lap, but also does fine in the kennel during rides. Zoe is treat motivated, playful, and sweet and will make a great family dog for a very lucky family.    Adoption fee includes: Full veterinary exam, Alter, Prepaid microchip, Dewormed, Rabies vaccine (if age appropriate), Distemper combo vaccine(s) appropriate to age, Bordetella vaccine, 4DX (over 6 months of age), Flea/tick and heartworm preventative while in rescue. Story
Hi my name is Hayes. I'm a 3 year old Chi/mix. I've been with my foster mom and foster siblings (1 small dog and 2 huge cats) since June 9. I've had so much fun going on walks, treeing squirrels, and chasing rabbits! My foster mom says I'm a good boy, except when I've escaped my harness while we're outside. I twist just right and I can get out even the super-duper good harness, oops, but I had fun barking at the neighbor's dog through his fence, mom got the truck and picked me up. The first time I escaped, she walked after me and I kept looking behind me to make sure she was there, whew, she never gave up!  I really don't care about the foster family cats, but I do have issues of jealousy, and I mean seriously don't even look at my treat! My foster pup sister wants all my foster moms attention, and so do I but I scared her once, so she really doesn't like me and hangs with foster grandma mostly.  Foster mom says I am a perfect leash walker. I love walks. I even know what the word walk is and once she grabs the leash oh boy I'm so excited. I take a long walk in the morning and a short walk before bed. I love sleeping with my foster mom. I go in the kennel when mom runs to the store because it's too hot in the car. Oh and I love car rides and mom says I'm a good co-pilot. Not that I like taking baths, but mom says I'm a good boy, so I'll take all good praises. I'm actually learning how to sit when asked, I play fetch with a ball, and I like to tug on the rope. I am making good progress with my house training with good supervision.  I am learning to play with the resident dog in my foster home. I am also  good with kids ages 9 to teenagers. I am sometimes a little leery of men but it doesn't take me long to warm up to them. I would really love a fenced yard so I can run free outside and someone who takes me out walking. I also love to snuggle, my head scratched, and belly rubs!     Adoption fee includes: Full veterinary exam, Alter, Prepaid microchip, Dewormed, dental, Rabies vaccine (if age appropriate), Distemper combo vaccine(s) appropriate to age, Bordetella vaccine, 4DX (over 6 months of age), Flea/tick and heartworm preventative while in rescue. Story
Age: 9 Years Weight: 14.2 lbs (Approx) Dog friendly: Yes Cat friendly: Maybe Kid friendly: Older considerate kids only Potty trained: Yes, mostly Crate trained: Yes Hi, my name is Buddy and I am an adorable 9 year old Chihuahua who would love to find my forever home. I am almost potty trained (few accidents) and am working very hard to be 100%. I love a fenced yard and a doggy door but I also enjoy walking on my leash. Feeding time is my favorite time of the day. I like it so much, I often wolf down my food. I might benefit from a “slow feeder” dish but I'm not sure I like the sound of that! I like to play fetch but prefer to watch the other dogs play together. I am also experienced with cats but it would probably best if I lived in a cat-free home.  I do great on car rides, whether in a crate or using a seat belt. I also voluntarily use my kennel when I feel like I need some private time. Mostly though, I like to hang around with my people and the family dogs. I really don’t know too much about kids as I haven’t been around them much but older considerate kids might be O.K. If you are looking for a bright, fun little guy to love and spend time with, I am your little man. Let’s meet! Adoption Fee: $395.00
