Story
Hi all! My name is Bender but my friends call me Charlie. I am a fun-loving guy looking for my forever family! I was recently returned to rescue because I grew bigger than my previous family was expecting me to get. Their loss because bigger just means more of me to love you with! I am currently about 35 lbs and my mom thinks I’m some sort of yellow lab mix so at 7 months old I will probably still have a little growing to do. I am your typical happy-go-lucky pup who loves to give kisses, cuddle on the couch and play with (destroy) toys. More than anything I love to play and run around with my foster brother as I have lots of energy to burn off. I seem to be good with dogs and people so far although I sometimes bark at them out the window. I met some kids at an event and LOVED them! As I am a puppy, I can get a bit mouthy and jump up on you when we are playing, but I never mean any harm and my mom has me working on it. Speaking of training I know how to sit already and we are working hold/wait commands. Potty training is a work in progress, I sometimes have a hard time holding my bladder when I get over excited or anxious so my mom is taking me out often when I’m not in my crate. I do like my crate okay, I go right in when asked and am pretty quiet overall in there until I get bored or need to go to the bathroom then I whine or bark to get your attention. You need to give me something constructive to chew on otherwise I might nibble on the bedding. I go all night in my crate with no accidents and am generally pretty good during the day when my mom is working as long as we take a few breaks. If I can tell that you are actually leaving I might cry in my crate for the first few minutes. I am currently living in a condo and my mom thinks I would do better with more space and a yard to run around in to help get my energy out. I do pull on a leash and am pretty strong already for my size. Sometimes my mom brings me to a friend’s yard and I am good in the car on the way over and then super excited to race all around when I get there. I am learning how to play fetch too, which is so cool! Although giving the ball back is still a work in progress. I have a lot of love to give, and I would love to give it to you! Adoption fee includes: Full veterinary exam, Alter, Prepaid microchip, Dewormed, Rabies vaccine (if age appropriate), Distemper combo vaccine(s) appropriate to age, Bordetella vaccine, 4DX (over 6 months of age), Flea/tick and heartworm preventative while in rescue. Adoption fee: $575.00  Visit this organization's web site to see any additional information available about this pet.April 24, 2024, 11:40 pm

Almost like she is making a big comfy nest for herself, which has led to me not being able to find her because inevitably the blanket nest is bigger than her! She was great with meeting grand kids. Thelma can and will climb over baby gates and on furniture to get to you. She has acclimated to our resident dogs very well and will require a canine companion in her adoptive home.   * I did test positive for heartworm and will be receiving treatment provided by MARS to live a long healthy life.   *A dog with Heartworms is not directly contagious to other animals. Hello!  My name is Willy Wonka, and I am an energetic, fun loving young dog that enjoys eating and playing. I’m a Chihuahua born 5/23/24. I am learning some skills like sit and down, but I need some more practice.  I also have not walked on a leash before, but my foster mom says I'm doing great so far!  I have not had any accidents here since my very first day (I was very nervous)!  I love my foster sisters' toys and can play by myself or with other dogs, but my foster sisters don't love to play.  I would do great in a home with other dogs but will do fine without them also!  I have some skin issues that we are working to resolve and have gotten some medications for them.  I LOVE food and use my nose to find it all over, so it would be good if you kept food out of my reach.  I have a great personality and love to share my enthusiasm! Adoption fee includes: Full veterinary exam, Alter, Prepaid microchip, Dewormed, Rabies vaccine (if age appropriate), Distemper combo vaccine(s) appropriate to age, Bordetella vaccine, 4DX (over 6 months of age), Flea/tick and heartworm preventative while in rescue. Story
Hola! My name is Blossom! I arrived from Tijuana, Mexico at the end of March.  I am estimated to be a Chihuahua mix, about 2 years old and 8 pounds.  I had a rough life in Mexico and was found malnourished, with mange and a tick borne disease.  I've recovered well and am doing great now.  Considering all I've been through, I am the sweetest and silliest girl.  I get along with people and the three small dogs in my foster home.  I am playful, but take social cues to settle down from other dogs well and am learning to use toys.  I do great in my crate at night and while my foster family is away.  I'm quiet in there and haven't had an accident nor do I destroy any beds or toys. I ride well in the car in my kennel too. I'm doing well at going potty outside in my fenced in yard and am working on my leash walking skills.  When unsupervised in the house I still tinkle occasionally.  My foster family doesn't have any cats or kids, so not sure if I like those yet.  I am pretty excitable and am working on learning how to be calm and obedient.  I'm starting to figure out what sit, down and stay means, but spin and dance are more fun!  I'm also learning that I don't need to bark to alert you to every sound and thing I see outside. With a patient teacher and supportive family, I can learn to be the best buddy ever!  Ready to be my adventure buddy?! Adoption fee includes: Full veterinary exam, Alter, Prepaid microchip, Dewormed, Rabies vaccine (if age appropriate), Distemper combo vaccine(s) appropriate to age, Bordetella vaccine, 4DX (over 6 months of age), Flea/tick and heartworm preventative while in rescue. You can fill out an adoption application online on our official website.Did I catch your eye? Learn more about me by reading my profile below; I just might be your new best friend! Apply on our website ( https://www.healingheartsrescue.org/adopt )  to  set up a private meeting or check below for my adoption event schedule. Age: Approximately 4 years Weight: 7 pounds Dog friendly:Yes, requires a companion animal Cat friendly: Dog savvy cats Kid friendly: No Potty trained: Yes, pad trained. Crate trained: No, does not like the crate Valentina is a special, special little girl. She came to Healing Hearts last August from a horrible puppy mill / hording situation and it was clear that she'd never experienced what it was like to be loved. When she first came to our home, she hid from everyone, only coming out to eat. Little by little though, she started to trust us and take baby steps into being a member of our family. She's still very skittish about people, even us, but we follow her lead on how she wants to interact. She enjoys being around us and in the mornings, she jumps on the bed, kisses my face, and then wants to play. She seems more secure when people aren't towering over her. She still does not like to be pet, but she's getting closer to allowing it. Her playful side has emerged and her BFF is her 16 pound feline foster brother, Rooney. They wrestle and nap together. Valentina will do best in a home with a playmate who can also teach her some manners as she can be a bit rough. Valentina would do best in a quiet home without small children and with people who will respect her boundaries and let her determine when she's ready for next steps. She'd also do best in a home where her new family works from home or is home a lot. She's not outdoor potty or leash trained, but she consistently uses puppy pads. She's the most darling little girl and had made so much progress. Will you continue to help healing her heart? Story
You can fill out an adoption application online on our official website.   Ivy is a spunky little chi/doxi (guessing?) mix puppy who is sweet as can be!   Here’s what her foster has to say about her: “Ivy! Adorable, sweet and sassy mix. Her color and markings couldn't be more cute. Possibly chihuahua/min pin/??? 6-7 months old, 14ish #. Would do best in a home with another dog, ideally not a bossy one, as Ivy's terrier side can be a little pushy. She has been living with 5 other dogs and is doing great, but none are overly pushy themselves. She currently is learning how not to greet with her mouth, so she wouldn't be the best for for homes with younger children. Potty training is going well. Loves to play with toys, fetches (brings back!!!), and loves a game of chase with the right tempered dogs. She is a super fun pup, and would be a keeper in my book of I didn't already have 4 of my own.” Ivy is looking for an adoptive home! The best situation for her would be a home with another dog for her to learn from.  Interested in fostering or adopting? You can fill out an adoption application online on our official website. //   Find our applications at www.midwestanimalrescue.orgAdoption Fee $400 plus taxPlease read the full bio! We want to find the perfect match for Jennie! Jennie came from a puppy mill environment where she was not provided much chance at socialization or care. While she has come a long way she will do best in a home with some knowledge of this type of background and trauma these dogs have. While Jennie may never become a cuddle bug or lap dog she shows great potential for growth and improvement with the right kind of love and attention.  Potential adopters should be willing to invest time in building a strong bond with Jennie. A gradual introduction to new experiences and people, along with positive reinforcement.  An ideal home for Jennie would look like: Having a confident dog in her new home would be a great benefit to her as she can learn from them to trust the humans around her.  A person who is home more often than not.  Either no kids, or older kids who will respect her space.  Low to moderate activity and noise level in the home.
