Story
You can fill out an adoption application online on our official website. JERRY was transferred to GaDaH from a high kill shelter in Texas on 22nd April 2023. We take a lot of pictures and videos and don't always have the time to post them on the dogs individual webpage and adoption site, so we ask that you go to the rescue  YouTube channel  and  photo albums on our Facebook page  to see a LOT of pictures and videos.      JERRY is neutered, rabies, core vaccines, heartworm/tick tested negative. He is on monthly prevention, microchipped, has an estimated date of birth of 21 March 2016 and at the  time of transport weighed 14.8 pounds. We have no way of knowing what the actual breed is, so it is up to people to look at the pictures and video's to make up their own mind. JERRY is available for adoption from Give a Dog a Home Rescue in Sebec, Maine for an adoption fee of $550.       This adoption fee covers the cost of running a brick and mortar rescue as well as any transport, veterinary, food,   treats, toys costs and the many expenses that rescues endure to keep the pets in their care safe, and happy.     Be sure to read all the information and if interested, go to the rescue website to submit an adoption application. https://www.giveadogahome-rescue.org/forms/form?formid=5838 The rescue buys food in bulk, by the truck load and there are a variety of brands and flavors. None of the food given is less than a 4* food rating. There have not been issues with eating any of the varying foods. It is important that you do your research on the ingredients and speak to your vet or a nutritionist on grain vs grain free! &#226&#128&#139You MUST understand that dogs need time to decompress and adapt to their new environment and home. It is a HUGE transition they make from the kill shelter, being vetted, on transport for 3 days and arriving in Maine where the temperature and such is very different to what they have only known. In rescue there is what is known as the "3 Point Rule" Days 1-3 your dog is stressed, anxious, confused as to where they are now. Weeks 1-3 your dog is adjusting, settling in, learning things. At the 3-month point, your dog understands they are home, and have built up a trusting relationship where they feel loved and secure. If you feel that you have the heart and home to give this precious soul a wonderful life, please go to our website, under the ADOPTION INFO tab, complete, then submit the APPLICATION. Our process takes around 1-2 days, and ensuring your references are aware that we will be calling, could speed up the process. Once you have been approved, we discuss any questions in regards to the dog you are wanting to adopt, then we can schedule your appointment to come to the rescue in Sebec, Maine for meet/greet/adopt Please do NOT submit an application if you are not looking to take home a new best friend within the next few weeks. https://www.giveadogahome-rescue.org/forms/form?formid=5838 ALL Dogs are LOCATED AT THE RESCUE IN SEBEC, MAINE. We post in various states along the east coast and Canada where we have had lots of successful adoptions to enable more exposure for these beautiful saved souls. Families will need to be prepared to travel to the rescue to meet and take home their new best friend. Sebec is located just outside the towns of Dover-Foxcroft and Milo (approx. 8 miles) and approx. 45 miles from Bangor. There are also lots of hotels, motels, pet friendly accommodations and wonderful camp-sites for the more adventurous families and what a great way to get to know your new best friend. Story
You can fill out an adoption application online on our official website. SADIE-Sue was transferred to GaDaH from a rescue in Texas on 22nd April 2023. We take a lot of pictures and videos and don't always have the time to post them on the dogs individual webpage and adoption site, so we ask that you go to the rescue  YouTube channel  and  photo albums on our Facebook page  to see a LOT of pictures and videos.        SADIE-Sue is spayed rabies, core vaccines, heartworm/tick tested negative. She is on monthly prevention, microchipped, has an estimated date of birth of 28 February 2020 and at the time of transport weighed 9.10 pounds. We have no way of knowing what the actual breed is, so it is up to people to look at the pictures and video's to make up their own mind. Notes from Sadie Sue's foster family when she was in Texas, before coming to GaDaH in Maine. At the end of February, Chihuahua Rescue & Transport responded to a call to help with an emergency situation involving Chihuahuas located about two hours outside of Dallas. An elderly woman had passed away alone in her home. She had no family and left behind 15 Chihuahuas living in deplorable conditions in her backyard.  The Chihuahuas were filthy and covered with fleas. Each dog was bathed (including a flea bath), groomed and nails trimmed. It was likely the first bath they had ever had. Sadie Sue is one of the 15 Chihuahuas. She is heartworm negative, spayed and is estimated to be between 3- 5 years old. She is approximately 10 lbs, although she could lose a pound or two.  Sadie Sue was fed in a "communal environment" - and thus she does do not waste time eating. She is not food aggressive and will happily eat from the plates of other dogs. She will stop if told no. She is 95% potty trained, either going outside or using a puppy pad. Her infrequent misses are due to the puppy pad being dirty and not being able to go outside. Sadie has not gotten much time to learn how to walk on a leash.  Sadie Sue is an easy dog to love She is very friendly and more socialized that most "hoarder dogs". She does get spooked by fast movements. She will run away but comes back and never shows aggression. The tail wags non-stop. She loves giving kisses and cuddling. She wants to be in the room that you are in. If you glance in her direction, she will run up to you for head scratches and nuzzles. She is not a fan of being picked up or carried. She does not seem that interested in playing with toys as she likely did not have them growing up. If she has another dog to show her how fun toys are, she may change her mind. She does like being with other dogs and will snuggle with them but she does not need a dog buddy. She has only ever been around small dogs. I am not sure how she is with large dogs.  SADIE-Sue is available for adoption from Give a Dog a Home Rescue in Sebec, Maine for an adoption fee of $550. Spayed or Neutered,
Story
You can fill out an adoption application online on our official website. GOMEZ was abandoned outside the rescue gate at the top of the drive, near the road in a crate with no water, during black fly season with a bag of pedigree dog food on 8th May 2023. I do not know how long this poor boy was left there as I only discovered him by the dogs constantly barking. He has been posted in all the community Facebook groups to try to find his previous owners so that we can obtain information, such as his name, his medical records (if he had any), his favourite toys, treats and any other information that would help us with this sweet boy. The local veterinarians were also contacted, but we have yet to have any information. GOMEZ was clearly scared and his ears were badly bitten by the black flies, he was shaking when I took him out of the crate, but very friendly, clearly craving affection.  GOMEZ is neutered, rabies, core vaccines, heartworm/tick tested negative. He is on monthly prevention, microchipped, we do not know his age, but he is in the 10 year plus senior age range. He weighs around 10 pounds and does need to lose a few of those pounds. We have no way of knowing what the actual breed is, so it is up to people to look at the pictures and video's to make up their own mind. GOMEZ has had an in-depth blood/chemistry and stool panel run and has been diagnosed as having "hypothyroidism" and so will require medications for the rest of his life. The positive side is this is a very manageable disorder and medications are relatively inexpensive. This could also be the reason as to why he has some extra weight. Hypothyroidism cannot be cured, but it can be managed through thyroid medication. Dogs with this disorder are prescribed a thyroid hormone replacement called thyroxine that will need to be given for the rest of the dog's life. Follow-up blood tests can help ensure the dog is receiving the right dosage of the medication to regulate thyroid hormone levels properly GOMEZ has also been diagnosed with dental disease and does have stinky breathe, which is to be expected in a small dog of his age. He is scheduled for a dental cleaning and extraction in September and this appointment can be transferred over to his new pet parents. Potential adopters should be aware that dental cleaning/extractions can cost anything from $400-$900 depending on the number of extractions needed. His medical records are posted on his page on the website, including his blood/chemistry/stool results. GOMEZ has been living in the kennels with the other small dogs and at first was nervous, but with the help of his Chihuahua friend Sadie Sue he has settled in great and does enjoy snuggling with her. He enjoys soft treats and has not shown any interest in toys, but he is still decompressing and trying to understand what has happened to him. He is extremely affectionate, he loves human company and rides great in the car, enjoying to stand and look out of the window.  He is good with other dogs and on a ride to the vets had no problems letting big Great Pyrenees, Baba Ganoush, whose head was as big as Gomez, to get out of his space. GOMEZ is available for adoption from Give a Dog a Home Rescue in Sebec, Maine for an adoption fee of $550.        This adoption fee covers the cost of running a brick and mortar rescue as well as any transport, veterinary care, food,     treats, toys costs and the many expenses that rescues endure to keep the pets in their care safe, and happy.       Be sure to read all the information and if interested, go to the rescue website to submit an adoption application. https://www.giveadogahome-rescue.org/forms/form?formid=5838 We take a lot of pictures and videos and don't always have the time to post them on the dogs individual webpage and adoption site, so we ask that you go to the rescue   YouTube channel   and   photo albums on our Facebook page   to see a LOT of pictures and videos. Taryn is an exceptionally sweet and well behaved little girl that gets along with everyone and other small dogs. She has a docile demeanor, but loves her walks, loves to eat and is simply a joy to be around. She is spayed, UTD on shots, had a dental with a couple of teeth removed due to dental disease that has since been remedied. She has a grade 2 heart algorithm that is not problematic, clear lungs, had a complete health exam work up and is considered healthy. Taryn would be an exceptional companion to someone who is home often and wants a best friend/companion to share their life with. Spayed or Neutered,
Story
Daisy is about 5 1/2-6 1/2 years old and absolute doll once she knows she can trust you. Once she does, she's such a delight to be around.  Daisy's spayed, microchipped and up to date on vaccines. No small children, and while she's ok on a leash, she can be skittish with sudden noises so a fenced yard is required.   Interested in adopting me?  To fill out an application visit 3 Hearts 4 Paws.  Please note: we generally do not adopt out of state unless it is within 1-2 hours of us.  Currently due to COVID we are unable to accommodate most out of state adoptions.  Visit this organization's web site to see any additional information available about this pet.June 4, 2023, 3:48 pm

Spayed or Neutered,
Story
This handsome dude is Tom. His eyes will melt your heart. Estimated to be about 2-3 years old, about 21 pounds. Up to date on vaccines, microchipped and neutered.  Extremely sweet and playful little guy.  Good on the leash, house trained.  Tommy would do best in an active home with another dog to play with or family that will engage him in catch and toy play. He is smart and attentive. He is very food driven and could be easily trained for tricks. He loves to snuggle under covers and on laps. He needs a mature household.  Tommy needs a fenced yard (at least 5 feet) as he is very curious about deer or squirrels. Or a home that walks him primarily. Interested in adopting me?  To fill out an application visit 3 Hearts 4 Paws.  Please note: we generally do not adopt out of state unless it is within 1-2 hours of us.  Currently due to COVID we are unable to accommodate out of state adoptions.  Visit this organization's web site to see any additional information available about this pet.June 4, 2023, 3:48 pm
