Story
Howdy! My name is Nugget, a 1 year old 8 pound Chihuahua mix! Can you guess why? I’m a little dude with a big heart. I’m pretty easy going. My foster keeps saying “I’m just a happy little guy” and I guess that describes me well. Whatever you want to do for the day; I’m on board. Play dates with other dogs, going for a walk or a car ride, why not?! Let’s go! Or, I’m perfectly content at home. Told ya…I’m easy going! I think I was born to make others smile. You can’t help it when watching me run, play with my favorite toys and do zoomies. I’m very fast! So what do you say? Who’s ready to smile!?!Thank you so much for your interest in adopting a dog from A New Chance Animal Rescue (https://anewchancear.org). We are a 501c3, tax deductible organization. ANCAR is a foster-based rescue, and we adopt within a 90 mile radius of Bedford Hills, NY. You will find the adoption application here: (https://anewchancear.org/adopt/adoption-application/). All fields on the application must be completed. Please read about the adoption process (https://www.anewchancear.org/adopt/our-adoption-process/) so you'll know what to expect when you submit. Our dogs are in foster care and we do NOT have a shelter or boarding facility. AN APPLICATION MUST BE COMPLETED IN FULL AND APPROVED BEFORE A DOG CAN BE MET. This is a firm policy. Our busy volunteers are not able to respond to questions about the dog or dog meeting requests in the absence of an application. We know these dogs very well because they are in foster care. Please read the profiles of the dog(s) you are interested in prior to submitting an application. If there are specific requirements stated (ie: Fenced Yard or Canine Friend Required) these are included because they are vital to the happiness, health, safety and adoption success of that dog. We are only able to save as many dogs as we have foster homes (https://www.anewchancear.org/foster/faqs/) and resources for. We provide medical care including vaccinations, testing, deworming, spaying/neutering and microchipping before transporting our dogs. We provide all supplies, preventatives and any follow up vet care necessary while they are in foster care. These costs are high and the number of lives we can save is entirely dependent upon donations from people like you. We do not receive funding from private foundations or government sources. If you can find room in your heart to help us, with any amount, we are truly grateful (https://www.anewchancear.org/help/donate/). We are a 501c3 organization, so all donations are tax-deductible. It is only through the kindness of supporters like you that we are 'changing lives...one tail at a time' by providing our dogs with 'A New Chance.' (https://anewchancear.org) Thanks so much.

Story
Meet Chito This little love bug is a true lap dog and your constant shadow. Chito is about 7lbs and 8-10 years old. He’s happiest snuggled up on the couch or in bed (yes, he’s a bit of a bed hog!). Chito is calm, quiet, and settles nicely when left alone. He sleeps through the night, isn’t a big barker, and has a great appetite. He does best on a consistent potty schedule and may benefit from another dog to encourage him outside. Otherwise, he’d rather run back in and be with his person! Chito isn’t much into toys but may play a little with encouragement. He’s gentle, non-aggressive, and easy to love. Due to some mobility limitations, he can’t do stairs but manages the couch just fine. If you’re looking for a loyal, low-key companion who just wants to be by your side, Chito is your guy 🐾

Story
Meet Matito At 8 years old and just 8 pounds, Matito is the perfect little companion who fits right into your life (and your lap!). Honestly… who can resist those adorable oversized ears? They give him a permanently curious, endearing look that makes everyone smile. Matito is a calm, easygoing guy whose favorite pastime is simply being with his people. He’s the definition of a loyal companion — happiest when he’s with you, whether you’re relaxing on the couch or winding down for the night. He’s wonderfully well-mannered in the home and does great with his house training. Matito also has a special talent: he loves burrowing into blankets and turning himself into the cutest little “burrito.” If you love cozy nights, he’s your perfect snuggle partner. Matito gets along nicely with other animals but is just as content being your one-and-only. He’s quiet, rarely barks, and would make an excellent apartment dog or a peaceful addition to any home. If you’re looking for a sweet, calm, low-maintenance companion who will adore you endlessly and keep your lap warm, Matito is your guy. 💛

Story
The Vince we know today has already undergone such an unbelievable evolution from the one that arrived on the farm. He had an at-times snappy aversion to touch. He trembled, hid and withdrew, the results of past trauma we wouldn't want to imagine. Thanks to patience, freedom of choice, and some encouragement from his doggie friends, Vince has allowed us to peel back the layers and show his funny inner personality. If this little guy knows one thing for sure it's that he likes to stay active. After a period of familiarization with the presence of the leash and the motion of putting on said leash, Vince has grown to become quite the walking partner. He can often be found on pack walks with his head held high as he surveys his surroundings. When he's not out on a stroll, Vince can be found zipping around the play yard with his friends...though he's not quite sure how to do this whole "play" thing just yet and will happily take a break from the action to explore his environment on his own. Vince also loves his toys; it brings such joy to watch him toss them about with a jolly demeanor that can't help but make you giggle. Vince still has a great deal of learning to do in how to be a pet dog. The structure we have provided, paired with a gentle approach, has allowed him to understand where he fits in the daily routine. Though he has become quite bold in his now comfortable surroundings, we know it will take a great deal of patience to welcome Vince into an unfamiliar environment. A home that is dedicated to continuing his growth (a process that is both highly challenging and highly rewarding) would be what's needed for this delightfully playful yet still highly uncertain little guy to blossom into his fullest potential. ___ THANK YOU for your interest in a rescue dog! Visit our website to fill out an application: www.fortheloveofdogsrescue.org We are a very small organization with limited staff, we ask that you contact us at: LoveDogs.BedfordNY@gmail.com We do ask that all potential adopters have a completed & approved application with us prior to scheduling a visit in order to help us streamline the process.

Story
Gandy is a solid delightful spunky little chi mix that was originally surrendered to a southern shelter along with 5 other chihuahuas. We took them all and each one was placed in great homes! Sadly after 2 years Gandy was returned to us at Love Dogs due to personal circumstances in his previous owners life. When he first arrived back to us last week after two years in his home, he was one chunky monkey!! We welcomed him back.. he was always much loved here and he did recognize us.. naturally he had to readjust and was initially a bit reserved and cautious ( part of his nature!). He will never be a confident greeter of new people.. but he is able to and actually wants to feel safe and loved. It didn't take long for him to get into our routine and start trusting us again. Right now Gandy's days are filled with positive experiences only! Playgroups with his buddies Hopper, Navy and Ollie.. long walks around the farm property and tours into the barn to explore all the wondrous horse smells! Gandy is so affectionate and loving to those on his inner circle.. often jumping in our laps and rubbing on us like a cat for attention! He has his favorite friends and with them he gives his whole heart!! Gandy would do well in a home with a another dog or cat but children not so much! He prefers calm and gentle friends who will find it easy to give him space time and choices!! With his somewhat challenging start in life our hopeful buddy deserves a sweet happily ever after!

Story
Meet Citrine, the 18-pound Chihuahua mix who is ready to bring a whole lot of love into your life! At just two years old, Citrine is a social sweetheart who has already proven to be a wonderful companion. She has spent her time living happily with three young children and gets along famously with other dogs, making her a fantastic choice for a family looking for a friendly, adaptable new member. Citrine is a girl who truly enjoys the best of both worlds. She has a perfect medium energy level, meaning she is always up for an adventure but is just as happy to be a couch potato. She is a total superstar on the leash and absolutely lives for her daily walks. You might notice her doing a cute little "reverse sneeze" when she gets extra excited or encounters some outdoor allergies, but that’s just part of her unique charm! When she’s not out exploring the neighborhood, you can usually find her playing with her favorite squeaky balls or snuggling up for some quality time with her favorite people. This smart girl is already well ahead of the curve when it comes to her manners. She is both house trained and crate trained, and she’s a very polite houseguest who knows the routine. While she is a little more of a "ladies' dog" at first, she warms up to everyone with just a little bit of time and patience. She’s also a fan of the good stuff, currently enjoying a Blue Buffalo diet to keep her coat shiny and her energy up! Citrine is fully spayed, heartworm negative, and completely up to date on all of her vaccinations. She’s a cozy traveler who feels most secure tucked into a kennel for car rides, making her a great passenger for your next trip. If you are looking for a gentle, fun-loving, and portable best friend, Citrine is the girl for you **Apply to adopt Citrine on our website: www.strongpawsrescue.org**
