Story
Hi… I’m Xena 🤍🐾Yes, like the warrior princess — and I suppose I’ve earned the name. I’m a 6-year-old, 43-pound Staffordshire Terrier girl with a sleek mostly white coat and beautiful brindle patches. I may look strong on the outside, but my heart? It’s pure marshmallow. 💕 Not long ago, I wandered up to one of the shelter board members’ homes. I was very skinny, wearing an embedded collar with no tag. At some point, I was someone’s house pet… and then I was left to survive on my own. I had to be brave. I had to endure. But I never stopped being gentle. Since coming to the shelter, I’ve been brought up to date on all my vaccinations and had a full vet exam. I’m feeling so much better now. Every day, I thank the staff the only way I know how — with kisses, soft snuggles, and big grateful eyes. If you look at me long enough, you can almost see me saying, “Thank you for caring about me.” 🥹I’m extremely well-mannered. I’m house trained, crate trained, and I walk nicely on a leash. I load easily into the car and actually enjoy car rides — windows down, ears in the breeze? Yes please. 🚗💨 I have a medium energy level. I love to run and play when it’s time… but I’m just as happy cuddling on the couch under a fuzzy blanket for movie night. 🎬🛋️ I adore ear scratches (they’re my weakness 😌) and I bond deeply with my people. I may have a touch of separation anxiety — I just really love being close — but I’m not destructive at all. I simply want to be where you are. I’m a true velcro girl and would thrive in a home where I can spend lots of time with my humans.I’m good with other dogs with slow, proper introductions. I’m wonderful with the elderly and haven’t been officially tested with children yet, but with my calm and loving personality, I would likely do very well with respectful kiddos. I’ve already fought my battles. I’ve already been brave. Now I’m ready for the peaceful chapter — the soft bed, the steady love, the forever home where I never have to wander again. If you think you might be my happily-ever-after, please call the shelter at 479-394-5682 to learn more about me. I promise to be your most loyal warrior — and your very best snuggle buddy. 🤍🐾****************All animals at HSO are current on their vaccinations and will be spayed/neutered prior to adoption.
