Story
Hi there… I’m Maximus 🐾🖤I’m a handsome 5-year-old German Shepherd boy, weighing about 64 pounds, with a sharp mind and an even softer heart. I may look strong and confident on the outside, but deep down I’m just a sweet, loyal guy hoping to find my forever family. 🤍I love people—everyone from kiddos to the elderly—and once I warm up, I’m all in. I can be a little shy at first, but give me a little patience, some kind words, gentle affection, and maybe a few tasty treats… and I’ll be your best friend in no time. 🥹I’m a smart boy (if I do say so myself!) and already know commands like sit, stay, come, leave it, and down. I’ve got great recall and really enjoy learning, so continuing my training would be a fun bonding experience for us both. 🧠🐕 I walk nicely on a leash and absolutely love going for walks and medium-length hikes. Stuffy toys and balls are some of my favorite things—I’m always up for a little playtime! 🎾When it comes to other animals, I get along great with female dogs, but I’d prefer to be the only male in the home. I can do okay with cats that are used to dogs, as long as we’re introduced slowly and patiently… but if they run, I might be tempted to chase. 🐱I should also mention that cars make me a bit nervous right now. With time, patience, and consistency, I know I can build confidence and learn that rides can be safe (and maybe even fun!). 🚗I do have very early signs of hip dysplasia, but I’m currently doing great with just a hip and joint supplement. As I get older, I may need a little extra care and a more moderate activity level—but for now, I’m happy, active, and ready to enjoy life by your side. 💛I’m fully house trained, crate trained, and I know how to use a doggie door like a pro. I’m truly ready to settle into a loving home where I can be your loyal companion, protector, and best friend.📞 Call 479-394-5682 to learn more about me. I’ll be here, waiting patiently for someone to see just how special I really am. 🐾✨****************All animals at HSO are current on their vaccinations and will be spayed/neutered prior to adoption. If not already spayed/neutered, there may be a short delay between when you select this pet and when they are ready to go home.Breed and age are determined based on observable physical traits. Actual lineage and birth date are rarely known.Adoption Fees:-$60 for cats-$60 for dogs over 6 years-$80 for dogs 6 months old to 6 years-$100 for puppies up to 6 monthsCome visit our pets Tuesday-Saturday, 10am-2pm.
