Story
Meet Haze! This nearly 4 year old mixed breed has long legs, an even bigger heart, and a lifetime of love just waiting to be shared! This goofy guy recently arrived at our shelter through our transfer program after spending far too much of his life bouncing in and out of shelters. Haze was originally adopted as a young puppy from our friends at Journey Home Animal Care Center, but through absolutely no fault of his own, he found himself back in their care as a young adult. We knew we had to help give this wonderful boy another chance. After all he`s been through, we think it`s finally time for Haze to discover what having a truly committed, loving family feels like!If we had to describe Haze in one sentence, it would be: all legs, all heart, and all goofball. He`s the kind of dog whose legs seem to go on forever, and he often reminds us of a baby deer that`s still figuring out how they work. He can be delightfully clumsy, hilariously unaware of just how much space he takes up, and impossibly charming because of it. Whether he`s bouncing around the yard, trotting alongside you on a walk, or attempting to gracefully squeeze into your personal space for attention, Haze is guaranteed to keep a smile on your face! His previous shelter described him as `full of personality and sweetness,` and we couldn`t agree more. Haze absolutely adores people and is happiest when he`s by your side. He has a habit of gently leaning against your legs while soaking up pets, loves chew toys of every variety, and is already potty trained. More than anything, Haze just wants someone to spend his days with. Whether you`re heading out on an adventure, relaxing in the yard, or simply hanging out on the couch after a long day, Haze is ready to be your loyal sidekick.Since arriving at our shelter, Haze has met a few friendly dogs and has done well with them. We think he could potentially enjoy sharing a home with another calm, easygoing canine companion, though we`d want to do introductions here at the shelter to make sure everyone is a good match. While he can enjoy the company of other dogs, Haze`s favorite company will always be his people!Haze has waited long enough for his happily ever after. He`s goofy, affectionate, endlessly lovable, and more than ready to leave shelter life behind for good this time. If you`re looking for a best friend who will make you laugh every day, lean on you for love, and remind you to appreciate life`s simple joys,

Story
Meet Vega!A beautiful 6 year old Rottweiler with a giant head, an even bigger heart, and so much love still left to give! Vega came to our shelter after her previous family could no longer keep her in their home. While she previously lived with other dogs, she’s made it clear that at this stage in life, she’d much rather be the star of the show and soak up all the love, attention, and comfy spots in the house for herself. Because of this, Vega is looking for a home where she can be your one and only canine companion — and trust us, she has more than enough affection to fill the space! This sweet girl is BIG… even by Rottweiler standards. When Vega first arrived with us, she was extremely overweight. We’ve been working hard to help her start feeling healthier and more comfortable, and while she’s already made progress, but her weight loss journey will need to continue in her new home with a family committed to helping her stay active, manage her diet thoughtfully, and keep moving toward the happy, healthy, and comfortable life she deserves! Beneath all those extra pounds is a loyal, loving dog who absolutely adores her people.Vega’s favorite thing in the world is spending time with humans. She’s affectionate, devoted, and gives the impression that once she chooses her people, she’ll love them with her whole heart. She’s the kind of dog who wants to be nearby - keeping you company, accepting pets, and reminding you daily that large dogs often have the softest and kindest souls.Miss Vega is looking for a fresh start and a family who will love her for exactly who she is. If you’ve been searching for a loyal companion, a steadfast best friend, and a giant sweetheart who’s ready to be someone’s whole world, Vega may be waiting for you. All she asks is to be your only pup, and in return she’ll give you every ounce of love she has to share!

Story
Meet Meeka! Some dogs spend their whole lives loving one family, and Meeka is one of those special souls. At 12½ years young, this sweet Husky girl found herself starting over after her longtime owner had to move somewhere that sadly couldn`t welcome her along. Through no fault of her own, Meeka suddenly found herself looking for a new place to call home. While it`s a big change after so many years, this gentle girl hasn`t let it dampen her spirit. She`s ready to find one more family to love with her whole heart for the rest of her senior years.Don`t let her age fool you, Meeka still has plenty of pep in her step! She enjoys leisurely walks where she can stop to sniff every interesting scent, exploring the yard and basking in the sun, and spending quiet time with the people she loves. She`s the kind of companion who`s just as happy joining you for a stroll as she is curling up nearby while you relax at home. She simply wants to be loved by her people. According to her previous owner, Meeka has done well with children. She would prefer a home without cats or other dogs, though, and would likely thrive as the center of your world. After years of being a devoted companion, she`s earned the chance to soak up all the love, attention, and cozy naps a senior girl could ever dream of.As Meeka enters her golden years, she`ll need a family willing to help her stay happy and healthy. Her recent bloodwork showed elevated liver values, which could be related to liver disease or another underlying condition. She`ll need adopters who are committed to building a good relationship with their veterinarian and making sure she`s feeling her best for the rest of her days. While she may need a little extra care, we know the love and companionship she has to offer are more than worth it!Senior dogs have a quiet kind of magic about them. They ask for so little, a comfortable bed, a gentle hand, and someone to love... In return, they fill your home with unwavering loyalty, gratitude, and companionship. Meeka has spent her life being someone`s faithful friend, and she deserves to spend her golden years knowing that kind of love once again. If your home has room for a sweet old soul with a loving heart and plenty of life left to enjoy, Meeka is waiting to meet you. We know there`s someone out there who will see what we see: a truly wonderful dog who deserves the happiest ending to her story!

Story
Meet Lucy!Lucy is a 3.5 month-old `Rez Dog,` making her a one-of-a-kind mystery mutt! We do not know what breeds may make up Lucy`s unique mix, but one thing is for sure - she`s an incredibly sweet puppy who is searching for a patient family to help her blossom!Lucy came to us with her littermates from the Ute Mountain Animal Shelter in Cortez, Colorado and while all of life`s recent changes have been a little overwhelming for her, we`re confident that her best days are still ahead! She is the shyest of her sisters and takes a little extra time to feel comfortable in new situations, but behind that timid exterior is a gentle, loving puppy just waiting for the chance to shine!Lucy is looking for a calm, understanding home that will let her move at her own pace while encouraging her with kindness, positive reinforcement, and plenty of tasty treats. We think she`d thrive with a friendly, confident canine companion to help show her that the world isn`t so scary, and she may also do well with a respectful cat. Polite children who understand how to be patient with a nervous puppy should fit her just fine, too. As with all puppies adopted from our shelter, Lucy will need continued socialization, positive reinforcement-based training, and lots of love as she grows. Watching a shy puppy gain confidence is one of the most rewarding journeys there is, and we know that with the right family by her side, Lucy has all the potential to grow into an amazing lifelong companion! Come say hello to little Lucy and see how special this girl is for yourself!

Story
Meet Nikki!Nikki is a stunning 2 year old Border Collie mix with a bright mind, an athletic build, and a whole lot of untapped potential. She was originally adopted from us as a young, sweet, and ready-for-anything puppy, but unfortunately didn’t get the guidance, socialization, or confidence-building she deserved in her previous home. Now that she is back with us, Nikki is getting a well-earned second chance—and this time, we’re determined to find her the kind of home and family that truly shows up for her!Like many herding breeds/mixes, Nikki is full of energy and always ready to move! She’s tall, lean, and lightning-fast making her the perfect companion for someone who loves outdoor adventures, games of fetch, and staying active! Give her a ball and some space to run, and you’ll see her absolutely light up with joy!Nikki is also incredibly smart—seriously, this girl is a quick study! She is eager and loves to learn. Nikki thrives when given structure and attention, making training not only easy but genuinely fun. She’s the kind of dog who will form a deep connection and bond with her person through shared activities and positive reinforcement (and maybe tasty treats.)When it comes to other dogs, Nikki is still figuring things out. She can be a bit unsure and vocal, likely due to missing out on proper early socialization. Our team is working with her to build those skills, but for now, she may do best as the only dog in the home—or with an experienced, dog-savvy adopter who’s willing to continue her training journey and help her gain confidence with other at her own pace. The good news? Nikki absolutely loves people. She’s friendly, eager to connect, and quick to make human friends. With the right person by her side, she’s going to blossom into an incredible, loyal companion!Nikki isn’t looking for perfect—she’s looking for committed. Someone who understands that great dogs don’t just happen, they’re built through patience, consistency, and love. If you’re ready to put in the time, Nikki is more than ready to give you her whole heart in return. Come meet Nikki and see just how special she is—you might just be the fresh start she’s been waiting for!
