Story
Meet Lorrie! She is a 3 year old terrier mix. She ended up in a small rural shelter with her puppies and they were all adopted, but she was not. She is the zoomie queen, an expert cuddler, an loves to play. She is shy at first, but once she warms up to you, you will be her favorite person in the world. She is also very brave despite being shy, so would love a family she trusts that would take her out on adventures. Lorrie is heartworm positive and started treatment, so is currently looking for a foster to adopt situation. We will pay for all of her medical bills until she is ready to be formally adopted, but she can move in with your family now to become an immediate member of your family! Will you give this sweet girl a chance to complete your family? Application is available on mysaltydog.com

Story
Jake is a 2 year old yellow lab mix. He cannot wait to meet his furever family. Jake was on "the list" at a shelter and we got him out just in time. His crime? Being terrified of strangers. Living in a shelter is the very worst place for this, because no one you meet is a prior friend. So he would bark at them and growl, and they labeled him as unfriendly. However, when you become Jake's person, he is one of the best dogs. He is crate trained, house trained, is extremely sweet, and LOVES to play. He knows how to sit, walk on a leash, and will wait for you to invite him before he goes through a door. He is an extremely polite gentleman. And he loves to kiss your hands to remind you how much he appreciates you. He likes to zoomie in the yard and go on walks with his people. He is not scared if his people are with him. To get there, you have to go slowly with him for a day or two in order to show him you are his friend and won't hurt him. He responds well to treats, and we are actively working on him to open him up to strangers and new experiences. He is getting better by the day. He seems to be much less scared of women than men. Jake's perfect house has at least one woman, no young children, a brave dog that can teach him, and he is good with cats. He seems to love other dogs and can be dog tested with potential siblings to make sure it is a good fit. Ideally, he would have a yard with grass because he still has some puppy energy. Most importantly, his perfect house will have a lot of patience to help him trust the world again. But it will be 100% worth it for the right person, because he would do anything for his person. Jake's adoption application is at www.mysaltydog.com. He is located in Brevard County, FL.

Story
Poor Elly! She ended up in the shelter in Miami when she was 2 years old, and again this year. Only this time, she weighed far less than she did before. We couldn't believe no one else stepped up for this kind, sweet girl. We are working to get some pounds on her, but that doesn't mean she isn't ready for her forever home! She is about 12 years old, knows sit and is just a love bug! She is leash reactive so will need a slow introduction with potential dog siblings, however gets along well with her foster siblings now that she has been introduced. She is crate trained, potty trained, and walks well on a leash. She is also available for our Golden Paws program, if a senior wants to welcome her into their home! More information on the Golden Paws Program on our website- www.mysaltydog.com.

Spayed or Neutered,
Story
Mark is a sweet sweet old gentleman who is looking for his next home. He is around 10 years old and came into the shelter heartworm positive. He went through the full treatment but then developed an upper respiratory tract infection, which is when we stepped in to bring him into the rescue. Mark is a shepherd mix but very small for the breed at only 47 lbs. He just wants someone to hang out with him and give him love. He is crate trained but loves to go outside and exploring, but is not a fast walker and does not pull on the leash. He would be the perfect dog for someone who wants a low-energy companion. Mark qualities for our Golden Paws Program. He is located in Brevard County, FL, and the application to adopt him can be found at www.mysaltydog.com.

Story
You may remember Rocky- he was adopted out and is back in the rescue! We brought Rocky in from a hoarding case where he was kept in a tiny house with dozens of dogs, cats, and chickens. He was adopted out, however poor Rocky is a young guy with lots of energy and was not coping well when his owner left him at home all day locked up when he was at work. So we brought him back and are trying to find a better fit for him! Third time is a charm for his perfect home! Rocky is incredibly sweet and loving. He is almost two years old and is a Mountain Cur mix. He loves to go on adventures. He is a favorite at the boarding facility he is at. He would do great in a house that has a yard with someone who either is willing to drop him at daycare all day while they are at work (until he gets older and has less energy), someone who works from home, or someone who is not going to be gone for extended periods during the day. Please make sure you research the breed you are adopting, as each dog is different and has different requirements because of energy and temperament. Rocky is laid back for his breed, however they are known for needing consistent training and exercise. Rocky is located in Brevard County, FL. His adoption application is at www.mysaltydog.com!
