Story
Abigail is a sweet, shy girl who absolutely loves affection and to play. She was rescued from living on a heavy chain outdoors with no access to food, water or shelter. Abigail and 30 other dogs were removed from this property by law enforcement and their previous owner was charged with animal cruelty and dog fighting. Abby will need a patient adopter who understands that she hasn't ever been inside of a home before and will need to learn basic living skills like potty training. She will most likely need to eat soft foods for the remainder of her life because she's missing half of her lower lip and part of her tongue and has a tough time keeping kibble in her mouth. Because of the emotional and physical trauma that she's endured we would prefer she be the only pet in the home.

Story
Kiki is a young and pretty girl who would love an adopter that will play with her! She's the perfect blend of snuggly and playful. Kiki is a bit shy/scared when meeting new people but wants to warm up. Her adopter will need to be patient with Kiki as she is shy and has never been inside of a house. Kiki and 30 other dogs were seized by law enforcement and their previous owner charged with animal cruelty and dog fighting. The dogs all lived outside on heavy chains without access to food and water. Because Kiki has never lived inside or had a loving owner she'll need help with basic skills like potty training. But Kiki doesn't need help learning how to play! She loves to play fetch and race around the play yard with volunteers that she's learned to trust. She is one of the smartest dogs that we've ever worked with and would love to do activities like agility, scentwork etc after she's able to build more confidence. At this time Kiki needs to be either an only pet or be in a household that will separate Kiki from other pets until she's decompressed.

Story
Meet Twinkle, the 3-year-old, 43-pound sparkler who’s ready to light up your life! This shy and sweet girl is ready to leave her traumatic past behind her and find her forever human to show her what love, patience and kindness is. Twinkle is incredibly sweet with people she trusts, always ready to shower you with affection and brighten your day. Sweet Twinkle has been living with our dog trainer since September 1, 2025. She's crate trained, walks politely on a leash, rides beautifully in the car and LOVES people she trusts! She's discovered that living inside is wonderful and has enjoyed living in a family environment (rather than outside or in a crowded kennel). She's also found that toys are super fun to play with! Twinkle was rescued from life on a heavy chain, living outside without access to food, water or reasonable shelter. Her previous owner was arrested on animal cruelty charges. Although we don't know for sure what Twinkle endured we do know that she'll need her new owner to understand that she'll take a little time to get used to her new home and be patient with her.

She's eager to please and dreams of a forever family who appreciates the simple pleasures in life. Mamacita would love to be your one and only fur baby, ready to bring endless cuddles and calm to your home. Adopt this sweet girl, and you'll have a loyal friend for life! Story
Meet Pretzel 🥨🐾 Pretzel is a sweet, sensitive boy with a gentle soul and so much love to give. He may take a little time to warm up to new people, but once he trusts you, his affectionate and loyal personality shines through. He does wonderfully with other dogs and enjoys their company, making him a great fit for a home with a canine companion. He has also been around chickens and showed no reaction. We’re unsure about cats at this time. Pretzel has been through a lot, so he’s looking for a patient and understanding family who will give him the time he needs to feel safe and secure. In return, you’ll gain one of the most loving, grateful companions you could ask for. If you believe in second chances and have room in your heart for a special dog, Pretzel may be your perfect match. 🐾💜

Story
🐾 Phoenix Is Now Available for Adoption 🐾 Overcoming every odd stacked against him, Phoenix is the true definition of resilience. He came into the shelter with an embedded collar, later escaped his new owner and survived on his own for three solid months in Titusville, battled heartworms, and had to learn—slowly—that people can be safe. Despite everything he’s been through, Phoenix continues to rise. Today, he is still a very timid and easily scared boy, but he has made incredible progress and is becoming more comfortable around people each day. With patience, consistency, and love, Phoenix’s gentle spirit truly shines. 🏡 Phoenix would do best with: Children over the age of 4 Another dog to help boost his confidence A calm, understanding home willing to let him warm up at his own pace 🐕 UTD on all shots, prevention and is neutered and microchipped. 🐱 Cats: Unknown — he has never been around them. Once Phoenix trusts you, the bond is something truly special. He may take time to settle in, but he will make a deeply loyal and loving companion for the right family. He didn’t just survive — he rose. Phoenix is living proof that even after everything, hope still has four paws. 🐦‍🔥🐾 📩 fill out an adoption application here: https://sites.google.com/view/islasjourney/adopt?authuser=0
