Story
Meet Bear, a striking, intelligent, and affectionate 5-year-old Australian Shepherd and German Shepherd mix who is ready to find a forever home where he can thrive. Bear is beautiful, smart, crate-trained, and full of energy. Bear has been raised around other dogs, including small breeds, and gets along well with them. He has excellent herding instincts and needs space to run, so a home with a fenced yard is ideal. Bear loves to play, is very loyal, and thrives with active owners who understand shepherd breeds. We’re rehoming him because we travel often now and want him to have the consistent love and attention he deserves. He needs a safe, loving home. He’s an amazing dog and deserves the best.

Story
This is Rip. He's a very sweet and smart boy- knows a lot of tricks and walks well on a leash but gets very anxious and cautious of new people- it takes time to warm up to someone new. You can say he is quite the protector, definitely will defend his territory. Does well with children over the age of 10. Very high energy and will do well with active family. Once he knows you he loves to cuddle.

Story
Mark is a fun dog who is looking for his next home. He is around 10 years young (he does not act like it) and came into the shelter heartworm positive. He went through the full treatment but then developed an upper respiratory tract infection, which is when we stepped in to bring him into the rescue. He is now better and ready to go home! We believe Mark is a shepherd/husky mix because he displays some characteristics of both, and is small for the breeds at 45 lbs. He would be the perfect dog for someone who wants the breeds but does not have a huge yard/the ability to exercise them as much as the younger dogs need exercised. With that being said, he does have energy and would enjoy a good walk or two a day. He does have separation anxiety which we purchased an indestructible crate to help him with. It will accompany him to his new home. Mark qualities for our Golden Paws Program. He is located in Brevard County, FL, and the application to adopt him can be found at www.mysaltydog.com.

Story
Meet Bessy! Bessy is a 3-year-old mixed breed- we have heard tons of ideas thrown around as to what she is mixed with (Pointer perhaps?) but all we know is she is one bundle of fun! Bessy is a moderate energy dog who is still learning her manners (who DOESN'T want to play rough all the time?) but LOVES other dogs and loves her people. She is also a smart cookie and is learning quickly what is expected of her. She has a heart of gold and is ready to move onto the next chapter of her life! Bessy is located in Brevard County, FL. She will be fixed prior to adoption. If you want to know more about her, please fill out an application at www.mysaltydog.com!

Story
Meet Joy! Poor Joy was taken to the shelter on Christmas Day. Because he is an older guy that is overweight with untreated arthritis, he was unable to walk or support his own weight. He quickly became depressed in the shelter and stopped eating, and was put on "the list" for just two days after intake. We rushed to get him and got to him with minutes to spare, and are so happy we did! We did a full medical workup on him, and discovered with arthritis management, there is no reason why he will not be an amazing companion for someone. With some dieting, physical therapy, and medication, Joy has become a complete joy! He is able to walk short distances, that are getting longer by the day. He has a wheelchair to support his back legs if needed for longer walks/to help build muscle. His foster family absolutely adores him, and his personality is finally starting to shine through. He is incredibly sweet and very goofy. He loves to "chase" (a very fast walk) ducks in his yard, and spend time outside laying in the sun. Joy would be perfect in a home that understands he is older and will need to take it slow. Also that he needs to stay with a strict diet to control his weight and make it easier on his aching joints. Salty Dog Rescue is prepared to help the new owners with the arthritis medications to keep him comfortable, and Joy qualifies for the Golden Paws Program. He is located in Brevard County, FL and his adoption application can be found at www.mysaltydog.com!
