Story
I adopted Landers from a local shelter a few years ago. He was said to have been a stray from Texas originally. He is an absolute sweetheart. He gets along great with kids and other animals. His breed is uncertain but seems to be a sort of Pitt and Xolo mix. Landers has been through several diets and medications and treatments as he goes through phases of dandruff and losing fur. After much trial and error, it seems that this is likely due to extreme separation anxiety. He likes to lie beside his person at all times. He can be playful but mostly wants affection and cuddles. Unfortunately, I am working often and he grows so anxious without company. Landers would be best suited for someone who has lots of time to give him the attention he deserves. A soft, comfortable, loving home is ideal. He does well on car rides and enjoys anything as long as he is with his owner and almost never barks. Vaccinations are overdue because of financial strain but can be updated prior to adoption.

When responding, please tell us about yourself such as home, yard/fence, family, work hours, previous dog experience. We do have an application at sparrowdogs.com. They call him Tot, as in Tator Tot, because he is just a little spud of a dog-just 20 pounds, and cute as a button.(his foster family is working on putting some weight on him!) If there had not been a DNA done on Tot, we certainly would have never guessed some of those breeds!! Although he is mostly Shih Tzu, he certainly doesn't look it, so we put down Chihuahua mix, perhaps Chihuahua/Pit? Would that make him a Chipit? Well, whatever Tot is, he is a cute little guy. But, looking into those sad eyes you can see the pain and perhaps the distrust. Tot grew up in a drug house, yes, you can just imagine the horror that he endured. Thankfully he was rescued by a good Samaritan/rescuer. And again, thankfully, he was just over a year old so surely he can put all that trauma far, far in his past with the right patient and loving home. Tot is doing well in his foster home. He has adjusted to living with a family with other pets, people of all ages--but NO small children--although there is an older child in the home. They have had a lot of patience with Tot and let him acclimate on his own terms. A fearful dog will be distrusting, but they can come around and love. It takes a special person, someone kind, loving and patient and also dog savvy that can understand that this takes time. But, it is also so worth it. Tot is young and has his whole life ahead of him. He deserves the best in life, and he is working on putting his rough start behind him. Tot will do well with an active family, he is young and playful. He will be best with female dogs. Tot is not the kind of dog that is going to warm up right away, he needs time. He is not going to be ready to snuggle in your lap upon first meeting, it may have to happen in his adoptive home. But, once he trusts you, he will love you forever. We are looking for that someone extra special to give him that chance of a happy full life. We know you are out there looking for that extra special pal. If you have plenty of dog experience and a big heart, maybe Tot is your guy!! His adoption fee is $200. Please email Kristine at joysparrows@gmail.com.

Story
To help us make a great fit for you, and any of our dogs as well, please include information about yourself(Home, family, yard/fence, work hours, other pets...) and/or use our application at sparrowdogs.com. COURTESY POST---This handsome boy is NOT with our rescue, he is with his family right now and we are helping them to find a wonderful home for Cooper. You can look at his pictures and see that Cooper is a very much loved family member. He has had a wonderful life with his people, and his other dog pal. And he really is an awesome guy, full of life and exuberance. But, that occasional over the top personality is a little too much for a family that just welcomed a newborn. So, no judgement there, they are just trying to make the best decisions for their baby as well as Cooper. Cooper is a 5 year old Pitbull mix. The family had initially adopted him a few years ago from a rescue, he had been left tied to a tree at some point in his life and was also heartworm positive. He has been treated for the heartworms and he is a healthy, robust and fully vetted boy. Cooper has lived with his other dog buddy and does well. Occasionally they play a little too rough(of course!) when they get a bit excited. He also lives with a cat that he wants to play with, however, the cat is not that interested in playing with Cooper, lol. Cooper's family says that he can be a little bit of an energy overload at times, he gets so exited meeting new people and dogs, gets excited about being outside and will jump on people and even has a big waggy tail that can hurt a little bit on the receiving end, lol. He is on some calming meds at this point, but perhaps could wean off of them in a small child free and also an active home to burn off some of that energy. Cooper's family has been working with a trainer and he is doing well. HE knows, sit, lay, shake and is doing well with place training on a mat, as well as a slip lead for a calming control device. When Cooper is not enjoying all the excitement of his life he is also a very laid back guy. If you are relaxing, well, he is right there with you. Cooper is a professional snuggler and loves to be by your side, keeping your feet warm in bed, or cozied up for some Netflix! Cooper will most likely do better in a rural situation where he does not have as many distractions such as other dogs, people cars and such to get him overly excited. Cooper is an extra special guy that deserves all the best. His family is hoping to find an active, loving home, older kids would be best. He lives with another male dog now, but really does well with older female dogs. If you have an awesome home for an awesome dog, please email Kristine at joysparrows@gmail.com.

When responding, please tell us about yourself such as: Home, yard/fence, family, other pets, work hours, activity level...Thanks! We do have an application at sparrowdogs.com. Meet Milo--and yes--he is every bit as adorable as he looks. He is a happy boy that sadly doesn't realize how his life is about to change. His person had to take a new job that requires travel, and leaving Milo alone is certainly not an option. It is heartbreaking for his person, but sometimes our lives just do not go quite as we planned. So, in doing the best for Milo, he reached out and we are helping Milo find his new family. We first met this cutie when he was a puppy back in 2022, we called him Danny. He was an adorable little guy, and apparently he continued with the adorableness! Milo is much loved and has had a great life. He is great with other dogs, kids and will accept cats(he is a little curious about them, but is fine.) We hear he is a professional cuddler, but is also fine snuggled up on his own bed with a favorite toy. Milo has the loving eyes of an old soul, he is a very special boy. Milo would love and energetic family, he enjoys his walks, playtime and of course his toys! He is also crate trained, very well mannered and is and of course a great snuggler!! As sad as his person is about having to find another home for Milo, he knows that Milo will be a loving addition for some lucky family! He is just over 3 years old, 55 pounds, and a lab/beagle. He is fully vetted and ready to meet his new family! His adoption fee is $200...now $100!! Please email Kristine at joysparrows@gmail.com.

Story
Duke is a 10 year old Blue Pit Bull. Needs new loving home. We had a female boxer pit (who passed) that he lived with here for six years and did well with, but not sure about other dogs. We have a baby coming here at the beginning of June so I would love to find him a good home soon. He’s a good guard dog, protective, playful, snuggly & loves his treats! Would be best/better to home with adults ONLY, kind of growls around children. Please also be patient with him. He will definitely come around! Can be stubborn but super loving & sweet.
