Story
I got my pet from family when he was a puppy. His birthday is 9-29-2017. I wouldn’t say he’s not good with kids but he is definitely old and just very temperamental when he eats and kinda skittish when being chased around. He was raised around kids and never had a problem I think it has more to do with his brother. Him and his brother have not been getting along lately and I think it would be better if he was in an only dog home definitely a big yard for him to run and get the exercise that he needs. He is very lovey and likes to cuddle and play.

To help us make a great fit for you, and any of our dogs as well, please include information about yourself(Home, family, yard/fence, work hours, other pets...) and/or use our application at sparrowdogs.com. COURTESY POST---This handsome boy is NOT with our rescue, he is with his family right now and we are helping them to find a wonderful home for Cooper. You can look at his pictures and see that Cooper is a very much loved family member. He has had a wonderful life with his people, and his other dog pal. And he really is an awesome guy, full of life and exuberance. But, that occasional over the top personality is a little too much for a family that just welcomed a newborn. So, no judgement there, they are just trying to make the best decisions for their baby as well as Cooper. Cooper is a 5 year old Pitbull mix. The family had initially adopted him a few years ago from a rescue, he had been left tied to a tree at some point in his life and was also heartworm positive. He has been treated for the heartworms and he is a healthy, robust and fully vetted boy. Cooper has lived with his other dog buddy and does well. Occasionally they play a little too rough(of course!) when they get a bit excited. He also lives with a cat that he wants to play with, however, the cat is not that interested in playing with Cooper, lol. Cooper's family says that he can be a little bit of an energy overload at times, he gets so exited meeting new people and dogs, gets excited about being outside and will jump on people and even has a big waggy tail that can hurt a little bit on the receiving end, lol. He is on some calming meds at this point, but perhaps could wean off of them in a small child free and also an active home to burn off some of that energy. Cooper's family has been working with a trainer and he is doing well. HE knows, sit, lay, shake and is doing well with place training on a mat, as well as a slip lead for a calming control device. When Cooper is not enjoying all the excitement of his life he is also a very laid back guy. If you are relaxing, well, he is right there with you. Cooper is a professional snuggler and loves to be by your side, keeping your feet warm in bed, or cozied up for some Netflix! Cooper will most likely do better in a rural situation where he does not have as many distractions such as other dogs, people cars and such to get him overly excited. Cooper is an extra special guy that deserves all the best. His family is hoping to find an active, loving home, older kids would be best. He lives with another male dog now, but really does well with older female dogs. If you have an awesome home for an awesome dog, please email Kristine at joysparrows@gmail.com.

To help us make a great fit for you, and any of our dogs as well, please include information about yourself(Home, family, yard/fence, work hours, other pets...) and/or use our application at sparrowdogs.com. Those emails will get the quickest response, we do the best we can, but if we have to follow up with an email asking you about yourself and waiting for a response, well, we have already moved on to the next email that has provided the details. We are doing the best we can to find the right home for each dog or cat, just need your help too! :) He's BAAAAAACK!!! Cello was adopted by a loving couple, and they adored him. He was doing so well and acclimating to their home for the most part. But....he just could not get past city living, he was right in the midst of all Chicago has to offer. Some dogs would thrive on all the activities and dog friendly environment, but, for a guy like Cello, country life is for me!! Cello has the Pug look as well, but is a little taller. He looks like a Pug/Shepard mix, also called a Shug. If you google this mix you will see a couple dogs that look just like Cello. It is possible to have different fathers for the same littler of pups, so that could explain their differences. How fun to have such a unique little dog, and what a potentially odd combination!! Cello had come in with his brother, Banjo. He is happily in a home with his new family(not big city living either, but not country). He is doing well. Cello is fine with the noises in our area, cars, motorcycles, farm equipment and such, but perhaps he was just too overstimulated in Chicago. He loves other dogs, enjoys playing in the yard, is a happy and loving guy. Cello is pretty laid back, housebroken, listens well and is not much of a barker. He would be a great chill type companion for someone that might like a hiking partner, has other dogs that need a pal, or just a best buddy. He would do well with an experienced dog owner, and probably would do better in a home without small children. He is just 4 years old and about 30 pounds. (they put on a little weight here, but are working on shedding a couple pounds!)Cello's adoption fee is $250.He will go home with tons of supplies to help him settle into their new home! Please email Kristine at joysparrows@gmail.com.

Story
Chance is 3 years old and weighs 120 lbs. He answers to quite a few commands and learns very quickly. He is house broken and crate trained. We will provide the crate if desired. He has been with me since he was 6 weeks old along with his brother Tank. They get along very well. Due to my current health issues, I am unable to care for both of them as I would like, and they deserve. I would consider re-homing both to the right person or family. They have not been leashed so if you wanted to take them for a walk you would have to train them. We have a large fenced in yard so we let them run and play outside as much as possible. I am a grandmother of 6, aging from 9 years to 2 months and the dogs have never shown anything but gentleness with them. They have always been fed Purina one for large dogs, although they do get some occasional dinner scraps. They love carrots and apples so that is a special treat. If you have any questions, please feel free to reach out.

Rihanna is a 3-5 year old female pit bull mix.  She is up to date on all her vaccines, fixed, and microchipped.  She is such a calm, cuddly girl.  She loves to go on walks and chase the squirrels.  She does well with older children but has not been around younger children.  She would also be better off in a home as an only dog.  She rarely barks and is housebroken.  She is such an affectionate girl.   Her adoption fee is $250 To adopt Rihanna email us at kakf3133@gmail.comApril 25, 2024, 10:46 am

Story
Max is a 9 year old male dobie who found himself needing a new home when his owner developed Alzheimer's.  He is very selective of other dogs so he would probably do best in a home as an only dog.  And he has not met a cat but has chased after smaller dogs so might not care for them.  Due to his size and temperament he would be best with older children as well.  He can be a little nervous at first and unsure but once he warms up he is a silly guy who loves to play.    He is pretty independent but does want to be in the same room as his people, just not always cuddling.  He is fixed, up to date on vaccines, and microchipped.  He would do best with someone who knows the breed. His adoption fee is $300 To adopt Max email us at kakf3133@gmail.comApril 25, 2024, 10:46 am
