Opie is 7 years old. He is house trained and gets along with children. He can not be kenneled He is very smart. With a baby in the house and a different job I do not have the time for him anymore. He is full of energy and loves to be outside. He even gets along with chickens.

Story

Orion is a wolfdog with a big personality and lots of quirks to love. During the day, he’s calm and content—happy to nap, chew on a buffalo cheek roll, or watch the world go by through the window. Evenings are when he comes to life. Between 6–9 PM, Orion gets bursts of energy, zipping around the yard or playing tug-of-war. He’s very food-motivated (frozen green peppers and Cheez Whiz are his favorites), and he loves to “talk.” His best trick? Saying “oh wow.” He is house-trained, uses a Halo collar for yard time, and enjoys walks, though he does pull on the leash. Orion doesn’t enjoy car rides or crates, so he’s happiest in a home where someone is around often. Orion gets along well with other dogs and enjoys rough-and-tumble play. Why we’re rehoming him: Orion has shown aggression around our infants, and for their safety, we can no longer keep him in our home. This was a very difficult decision, as we care deeply for him and want him to find the right environment where he can thrive.

I adopted Julia from the shelter when she was just 10 weeks old. She is the biggest lover and full of energy! She loves to play and enjoys being the boss of the house. A few of her favorite things are walking herself, playing fetch, and absolutely loves the snow.

Mila was surrendered by her person due to no fault of her own. She is a sweet older girl with lots of personality she is not a big barker but when enticed to play her hound sound comes out. She can be a bit of an anxious girl in too stimulating of a situation so a quieter household would fit her best. She likes to cuddle and attention but also does fine when alone. If you think she would be a good fit lets talk! She really is a sweet girl.

You can fill out an adoption application online on our official website.Alan came to the shelter on 1/22/2024 from the city pound after his legal hold time was finished. We're guessing on his breed mix, but are thinking German or Dutch shepherd, pit bull, and maybe even mastiff. He is a big, strong, and friendly guy with a gorgeous brindle coat. He is about 5 years old and has been fully vetted and microchipped. His fee is $150. Alan does appear to be housetrained and does know some basic commands. He walks pretty well on leash with a harness. He's very in tune to people and kind of a sensitive soul (don't tell him we said anything). He's also an absolute sweetie who wants to be around people all the time. We do think he should be the only pet in the home. He might be a bit too large and strong for really young kids. NOTE: Adoptions are done via private appointment once an application has been completed and approved. Applications can be submitted at our website, mchs.rescuegroups.org. We are located at 101 22nd St. SE in Austin, right next to the airport. It's exit 180B off of I-90, right off of 218 South. You can fill out an adoption application online on our official website.Quest was surrendered to the shelter on 5/9/2025 due to rental restrictions. He is 4 years old and was a very loved dog who had lived in his home his whole life. His owners were forced to relocate and couldn't find an affordable place that would accept dogs like him. Quest is a mix of boxer, Doberman, and pit bull, and he is big and strong. He has been fully vetted and microchipped and his fee is $150. Quest did live with his canine sibling in his home and was fine. They grew up together. We do think that he'd prefer to be the only dog in a home right now. No smaller animals for this moose. He's looking for an adult only home. Teens are fine. NOTE: Adoptions are done via private appointment once an application has been completed and approved.
