Story
Lily is a beautiful and smart girl, who will need a very specific home. Experience with her breed is very much preferred. She will need a home with no other animals, and children older than 12 years of age. She will need an active home with a fenced yard for her to run as much as possible as well. She LOVES to play fetch, go for car rides and is highly treat motivated. We believe Lily was born in April of 2015. Are you Lily's perfect fit? She hopes so! All pets adopted from the Humane Society of Freeborn County will be spayed or neutered, up to date on age appropriate vaccinations, testing and will be microchipped. All of this is included in their adoption fee. Fill out an application to adopt at freeborncountyhs.org When transitioning your new pet home please allow for at least 4-6 weeks for your pet to adjust to their new home. They will need this time to decompress, and adjust to a new routine and environment. During that time we will provide check ins and counseling to ensure a successful transition. Please review all basic adoption requirements listed on our website before applying. We take finding the right homes for the animals in our care very seriously. They deserve nothing but the best! Please allow 2-7 days for applications to be processed. If an animal is listed in foster care, these pets are not at our facility, but are in foster care homes. They are still available for adoption, and meet and greets are done with pre-approved applicants only. If you have any questions feel free to send us an email at freeborncohumanesociety@gmail.com, send us a message on Facebook, or call or text 507-377-8501.

Story
Meet Rio! Rio came to us as an owner surrender when her humans were moving and could not take her with. We believe she was born in February of 2020. Rio is currently around 50 pounds and we believe she would do best with older kids and adults. Rio is very scared of male humans especially on first meeting, she will bark and become defensive but with time and patience she does get used to them. She goes for a walk with a male dog walker every Saturday and does well. We believe Rio would do okay with other dogs (perhaps close to her size) but we are not sure how she would do with cats. She is a sweet girl that may need a refresher course on potty training and a few basic manners after she goes home. Rio is VERY high energy so she will need a home where she is kept busy / played with a lot! A fence may be ideal so she can run run run! All pets adopted from the Humane Society of Freeborn County will be spayed or neutered, up to date on age appropriate vaccinations, testing and will be microchipped. All of this is included in their adoption fee. Story
Meet Tiger! Tiger came to us as an owner surrender because his owner was not able to have him where he lived. We believe Tiger was born in December of 2021 and he is currently around 75 pounds. Tiger is very food and treat motivated, and he prefers to be left alone while he eats. He keeps a clean kennel here at the shelter so he may only need a small refresher course on potty training while adjusting to a new schedule / routine. We believe he would do best with children 12+ that know to leave him alone while he eats. Tiger seems curious about other dogs here at the shelter, and he may do okay with another dog if it was the right fit, but we think he would do best without a cat in his new home. Experience with his breed would be a plus! All pets adopted from the Humane Society of Freeborn County will be spayed or neutered, up to date on age appropriate vaccinations, testing and will be microchipped. Story
Say hey to Pickle! Pickle came to us after being found as a stray near Pickerel Lake Park and was never claimed. Pickle LOVES people and is a very sweet gal. We believe she was born in March of 2021. Since coming to us, she has not always kept a clean kennel, and may need a refresher course on potty training when adjusting to her new home. Since she came to us as a stray, we are not sure of her history, or what she has experience with in the past. Introduction to other animals should be very slow, and with caution. Pickle likes to play fetch, she knows how to sit, loves treats and is convinced she is a lap dog despite her size! All pets adopted from the Humane Society of Freeborn County will be spayed or neutered, up to date on age appropriate vaccinations, testing and will be microchipped. All of this is included in their adoption fee. Story
This is Sir! We believe Sir was born in September of 2016, and would do well with all ages. Sir loves to be involved in everything. He is smart, aware, protective, loving and has a lot of personality. Sir would rather not have other dogs barking at his humans and prefers his canine friends to be quiet and mellow. We don't know if Sir has ever lived with a cat, but he probably would be fine with one with a proper introduction. Sir would love to have a fenced yard to run in and a quiet place to rest inside when his work day is done. Sir has won all of our hearts here at the shelter and you only have to meet him to understand why. All pets adopted from the Humane Society of Freeborn County will be spayed or neutered, up to date on age appropriate vaccinations, testing and will be microchipped. Story
Almost Home Foster Kennels, MN Lic. 132328 is a 501c3, not-for-profit, foster-based, rescue organization. AHFK is located in SE Minnesota, in the Austin/Albert Lea area. AHFK is primarily a Beagle and small dog rescue. Our focus is to pull from High-Kill Shelters and to save those dogs that are at risk of euthanasia. All AHFK adoptions require an approved, completed application, a Veterinarian and Personal Reference Check, a smoke-free environment, and a home visit. Our Adoption fee is $425.00 for a single dog adoption. All our dogs are completely vetted, 4DX tested, current on vaccinations, spayed/neutered, and microchipped. We are currently accepting adoption applications for Molly. Lucy is 7 years of age. Lucy and her sister Molly were surrendered to Almost Home Foster/Rescue when her owner moved and couldn’t take them with. Lucy is a tricolored Beagle. Currently, Lucy is overweight and weighs in at 40#. She is on an activity schedule and is receiving healthy food portions. Lucy is doing extremely well at keeping her nighttime kennel clean and dry, and doing remarkably at house-training. Previously, she was kept outdoors only. The first time she saw the inside of a home was when she was dropped off at the foster’s home. Lucy does well with other dogs, adults, and children. She has not been cat-tested. When transitioning to a new home, please allow 4-6 weeks for her to adjust. She will need this time to decompress and adjust to a new routine, schedule, and environment. During this time, we will provide check-ins and suggestions to ensure a successful transition. Lucy will do best in a home with a family in which one Pet Parent that is a stay-at-home parent, or one which works from home; a family that can help Lucy acclimate to her new surroundings and environment and who will have time to properly instruct and train her with compassion, love, and patience. A fur-sibling would be a plus for helping Lucy to transition. Lucy has only known the outdoors as a living area; therefore, we are looking for a home with a securely fenced yard. We take finding the right homes for our furbabies very seriously. They deserve nothing but the best. Please allow 2-7 days for applications to be processed. Meet and greets are scheduled upon approved, completed application. If interested in Lucy, adoption applications can be filled out and submitted on our website: almosthomefoster.com
