Story
We have had him for 3.5 years and although he has always been the sweetest boy, I believe that he is unhappy. These last couple weeks have been the hardest, he has nipped at the kids(no visible marks) but I don’t believe it’s due to aggression issues, more like overstimulated. I think my kids are getting to be too much for him and ADHD is running rampant through our house. When we rescued him, they said he was German Shepard mix and 1y.o. so that would make him almost 5? I think he might be a little older, though. I believe he will thrive in a home with other dogs to play with and older, middle school aged, kids! A few things about him: He loves car rides and to go on walks but hates for them to end. Any kind of long-lasting chew treat/bone is his favorite. He LOVES other dogs. He will cry if he sees another dog and can’t play! He loves going to the vet. He is incredibly loving and sweet. 100% housebroken. He will come with a bag of food, harness and leash, fresh bath and nail trim.

Story
Hi, my name is Oddis! I'm a handsome, 3 year old pit bull mix and I came to Almost Home as an owner surrender in February 2021. I have been living at the shelter for over half of my life, but I know my forever home is out there somewhere! I tend to be pretty shy when I meet new people, but please be patient with me because I have soooo much love to give! I love to play and sit on laps, I'm good with other dogs and I'm gentle with kids. I'm up to date on all my vaccinations, neutered and microchipped, and tested negative for heartworm. Do you have room in your home for me?

Story
Hi there, my name is Binx! I came to Almost Home because a member of my family was dealing with health issues and could no longer take care of me. I am very friendly and affectionate! I can be dog selective because I think I'm a Queen, but I do like to play once I'm friends with other dogs. My friends at the shelter say I might need to be without cats but you never know maybe me and your cat could be friends as well. My previous owners have referred to me as an "escape artist," so my new home will need to have a safe and secure yard for me to enjoy. I can be mouthy and give kisses once I am warmed up to you. I like to play by using my mouth my human friends call it being mouthy I call it tasting everything...hehe I'm not biting I can just be a little nippy sometimes. I went out to Marshalltown to see if I could find my forever home out there but I didnt fit in well out there and came back to Almost Home. They didnt have outside runs due to it being winter and that just made me feel trapped. I am not a fan of getting a bath... but I do love rubbing my wet body all over you once I'm done! I'm up to date on all of my vaccinations and I tested negative for heartworm. I am microchipped and spayed. Do you have room in your home for me?

Story
Hi, my name is Shine! I'm about 7-1/2 years old and I originally came to Almost Home as a stray in August 2022. I was adopted for a while but I was returned in July 2023. I went to the doctor to look at the cataracts in my eyes, and they said that as I get older, I will most likely go completely blind - I guess it happens a lot in dogs who look like me. Don't worry though, I will still be able to live a long and happy life with my new family! I'm not a huge fan of the smaller humans, and I will do best as an only pet in my forever home. I'm up to date on my shots, spayed and microchipped, and tested negative for heartworm. I'm sitting here waiting for my forever home to come along... do you think yours could be it?

Story
Hey, I'm Bruno! I'm super excited to maybe meet you! I came to Almost Home in October 2022 after I was found as a stray. I'm usually pretty enthusiastic about life and my friends at the shelter describe me as "talkative." I love to play but I love treats even more. I may be a senior dog now, but I still have the spunk of a pup! I am good with other dogs and kids. I'm all up to date on my shots, neutered and microchipped, and tested negative for heartworm. Do you think I would be a good fit in your home?

Story
Hi my name is Bambi. I am around a year old and originally came to Almost Home as a stray. I was adopted out and recently returned because my owner didn't have enough time for me and she didn't think it was fair that I had to be kenneled a lot. I am good with other dogs and cats, but do need to be fed separately. I do have a little bit of anxiety and would do good in a home with someone who is home often.
