Nelson

American Pit Bull Terrier American Bulldog

Male, adult
Grand Rapids, MI
Size
(when grown) Large 61-100 lbs (28-45 kg)
Details
Good with dogs, Spayed or Neutered,
Story
Nelson is estimated to be about 3 years old. He is the sweetest boy after he gets through his initial excitement and anxiety, which does not take him long. He loves nothing more than to be laying with (or on top of) you. Fully house-trained and knows commands (sit, lay, shake, stay, down, out). He is very treat-motivated. He has a good amount of energy, but if he gets his exercise he will happily snooze for a good portion of the day, too. He is truly as sweet as can be and would do well in a home where he gets lots of love, attention, and affection and potentially where he has another dog friend to play with.

Details
Good with kids, Good with dogs, Good with cats, Spayed or Neutered,
Story
Choco was a stray dog when we found him. He looks like a mixed lab. He is around 10 years old. A fixed male dog. We have made sure to be current on his shots but is up for new ones. Good with kids, cats and loves to walk/run. Rarely barks. Likes the outdoors. Choco has been accustomed to life outside in his doghouse but can be house trained. Unfortunately, my living conditions will no longer allow me to keep him.

Nash

Terrier (Unknown Type, Medium)

Male, adult
Grand Rapids, MI
Size
(when grown) Med. 26-60 lbs (12-27 kg)
Details
Good with kids, Good with dogs, Spayed or Neutered,
Story
Nash was rescued in the summer of 2016, with the prediction that he was 3 years old. Breed said terrier mix, maybe some greyhound. He is still very sprightly for a possible 10 years. Temperament is very sweet, more passive, loves attention from people, good or indifferent with other dogs, not sure about cats. Barriers to moving with me: Runs off after wild critters, but does well with fenced in yard, which isn’t possible at my new place. He marks things inside the house from time to time, so he needs accommodations more outdoors. It worked for him to access the breezeway and fenced in backyard, then use a crate indoors at night, but this also isn’t possible at the new house. He would provide wonderful companionship to a loving family or individual!

Story
I took in Abby and Trigger as a bonded pair when they were roughly 3-4 years old from an acquaintance about 8 years ago. They're both sweet dogs that love snuggles and spending time with their people. Since my ex husband and I took them in, they've moved with us from California to Michigan, and they've moved numerous times between houses and apartments with us. We have divorced within the last year, and since then I've had both Abby and Trigger in my small two bedroom apartment and we've all had to adapt to my full time schedule. Due to their ages, the stairs to the second floor are really putting a number on their hips, and their quality of life has deteriorated due to their lack of time outside and their ability to socialize and get their sniffs in. Unfortunately the job situation is something I'm unable to change. They're wonderful dogs and I want them to stay together. I'd love for them to live out their best lives in a home with a big yard and minimal stairs.
Photo of Beau

Beau

Retriever (Unknown Type) Brittany

Male, young
Grand Rapids, MI
Size
(when grown) Med. 26-60 lbs (12-27 kg)
Details
Not good with kids, Good with dogs, Needs experienced adopter, Spayed or Neutered,
Story
Beau is generally a good boy. We adopted him from humane society in California when he was a year old. I don’t think he was adequately socialized because he barks and sometimes makes people uncomfortable if they come to our house. He doesn’t like anyone approaching the house like delivery drivers. We fence that area off in our home. He loves to be outside and play ball. He loves treats and knows basic commands. He is perfectly house trained and he has never had an accident in our home. We think he would do better in a home with a fenced yard (we have invisible fence) and few visitors. He loves doggy daycare and does great with the dogs there.

Story
Meet our first baby, Franny. We’ve had her since she was under a year, after being found abandoned in the woods in Iowa. She went from a skiddish, nervous puppy, to a cuddly best friend in a few weeks. She used to hide little piles of food around the house when we first got her, but with time she settled in and became a lot less anxious. When we had a baby this year, Franny’s nervous tendencies came back and have made for an anxious environment for everyone. She does very well with one or two people who she can be loyal to and cuddle with often. She loves to nap on the sofa, and curl up behind your legs in bed. She loves walks and being chased around a fenced in yard. She free feeds so we fill her bowl once a day. We would love to find a new loving home for her soon. She is 11 years old and we wish we could keep her forever for the sweet life she has given us, but need to prioritize our baby now. we will miss Franny very much and hope she can live out her final years in peace.
