Story
Meet Remus!
Remus is a handsome, incredibly smart 6-month-old, 35-lb German Shepherd/Rhodesian Ridgeback/Border Collie/Australian Cattle Dog mix looking for an active family who will keep his brilliant mind and busy body engaged!
When Remus first arrived in foster care, he was severely emaciated and needed a fresh start. After two months of consistent meals, love, and care, this resilient boy is healthy, thriving, and ready for his next chapter!
Smart + eager to learn: Remus is highly food-motivated, loves having a job, and learns incredibly fast. He even knows how to use a slat mill to help burn off some of that working-dog energy!
Dog-friendly: He does great with dogs of all sizes and loves to play. A canine sibling should be comfortable with an energetic, bouncy puppy.
Cat-friendly: Remus does surprisingly well with cats and even enjoys playing with a cat who wants to play back!
Kids: He has done well with respectful, dog-savvy kids. Because he can be excitable and prefers people to respect his personal space, older or experienced children would be the best fit.
Still learning: Remus is working on leash manners, potty training, and learning to communicate when he needs to go outside. Like many smart working breeds, he can be a little nervous when people crowd him or move too quickly, so he does best with someone who understands dog body language and will let him warm up at his own pace.
And one of his cutest quirks? He may not be a big face-licker, but he LOVES inspecting and gently licking your toes!
Remus has come such a long way, and he is proof of what a little love, structure, patience, and good food can do. He is looking for an active, understanding family ready to continue his training, provide plenty of mental and physical enrichment, and love him for the special boy he is.
Remus is ready to find his forever home!
Adoption Information
The adoption fee is $450 and includes age-appropriate vaccinations, a microchip, and spay/neuter.
Please note: While adoption fees help offset a portion of the medical care provided to our animals, they do not cover the full cost of rescue care. Adoption fees do not pay for food, shelter, enrichment, supplies, staff time, or the many other costs of caring for animals while they await their forever homes.
Applications must be submitted and pre-approved before adoption. Applications are typically reviewed in timestamp order based on the date and time they are submitted.
If you have other dogs in your home, they must meet the potential adoptee before an adoption can be finalized. Bringing them with you when you visit may save you an additional trip.
Meet-and-greets are supervised by a member of our team or the animal’s foster family. If all goes well, you may be able to complete the adoption during the same visit.
