Story
My name is Murphy and I am a gorgeous brindle boy.  Per my DNA test I'm 37% American pitbull terrier, 12% Australian cattle dog and 7% Labrador retriever. I am a good boy, sadly I've been at the shelter for a long time and here is what you need to know: I'm a very low maintenance boy, as long as I get a daily walk to sniff and an enrichment activity such a Kong or a chew toy I'm happy and relaxed.  I'm kennel trained ( I love it, it's my safe place) and muzzle trained if you live in an area where i need to wear a muzzle to go for a walk. I know sit, down, wait, I love walks and hikes and walk pretty well on leash (as long as there is nothing interesting to chase), car rides, belly rubs under the sun, eating ice, doing zoomies on the snow, and I love people!  I have a high prey drive so no small dogs or cats for me. I like children but I think it's best that I live with older ones as I might be a little too strong for them. If you think I can come to your house and show you what a good boy I am, please reach out and let's meet!   Thank you!!!  Love, Murphy. Thanks to our amazing Angel Sponsors, our long term pups now come with reduced adoption fees, alleviating financial road blocks for some, and making it even easier to open your heart and home to a furry friend. The adoption fee is $100 plus tax and covers age appropriate vaccines, a microchip, and a spay/neuter and a home training session.  Applications are typically worked in time stamp order based on date/time of submission.  If you have other dogs in your home, they must all meet the potential adoptee.  It may save you a trip to bring them with you when you visit, if you are certain you want to adopt a new family member. *****We are currently operating by appointment only during the social distancing stage of quarantine.   If you want to meet this pet, or are interested in adopting, please submit an inquiry or email to tchspapillion@gmail.com. Someone from the rescue will contact you and/or your family and determine, on a broad level, whether you might be a fit for the animal.  If so, they will provide instructions for completing the application. Your application will be reviewed and you will be contacted to set up a time to meet at the shelter or the foster home.   The introduction between you and the pet will be supervised by one of the dog counselors or the foster.   If all goes well, you can adopt during the same visit. Story
Mila is a beautiful, 11 yr old, tan & white cattle dog mix whose string of bad luck is about to end.  Despite being failed by multiple humans in her life, Mila's heart is so good and she is one of the sweetest dogs.  She adores all humans, big or small.  She has become a staff and volunteer favorite because she's such great company in the lobby.  She enjoys belly rubs, toys, chews and will curl up in the lobby blankets and watch a movie on a tablet.  No one would guess her age because she's so playful, loves to go on long walks and is up for adventures.  Mila has a strong prey drive and we suspect she's sustained some past trauma involving other dogs because she goes into self protection mode.  Therefore, she cannot be around any other animals.  But that's ok because Mila has so much love and companionship to offer her forever family that she will fill their hearts to full.  Mila has many great years ahead of her and we know her perfect family is out there.   The adoption fee is $200 and covers age appropriate vaccines, a microchip, and a spay/neuter.  Applications are typically worked in time stamp order based on date/time of submission.  If you have other dogs in your home, they must all meet the potential adoptee.  It may save you a trip to bring them with you when you visit, if you are certain you want to adopt a new family member. *****We are currently operating by appointment only due to a shortage of personnel. Story
Rosie is an 8 year old female daschund mix who does NOT want to hear you call her an "ole lady". This sassy girl used 2024 to fine tune her diet, close her smartwatch rings and shed some unwanted pounds.  She is now sporting a newly contoured waistline and is ready to hit the dating scene again.  But Rosie doesn't want to be known just for her beautiful body.  Her personality is her greatest attribute.  A staff and volunteer favorite, she loves to spend quality time in the lobby chewing on a bone, playing with toys or snuggling in the blankets.  When a human comes into the lobby, she is eager to greet them and request a gentle tummy rub or a smooch.  Rosie is very serious about her fitness routine.  She is all business on her walks and prefers a brisk pace.  While Rosie did well with other dogs her size in our playgroups, as time has gone on, she has decided she'd prefer to the "one and only" in her forever family.  She has so much personality and love to offer, her family won't need another pet.   Rosie is enjoying her youthful appearance and is healthy enough to enjoy many more years of fun if her humans keep her on a strict diet with plenty of exercise.  Apply to meet our amazing Rosie. Story
Milo is a 2 yr old handsome Whippet mix who is currently with one of our amazing foster families.  He's at such a great age--young but now past the puppy energy stage.  His foster fur siblings have taken him under their wing and he is enjoying both indoor and outdoor play.  He is learning to navigate stairs which he found to be very scary at first.  He is perfecting his potty training and fine tuning his leash skills.  We are getting the cutest pics of him playing with toys and curled up on the couch relaxing with his family.  Milo is very comfortable in his crate and considers it his safe space.  The crate is the foundation of success for all other training so skies the limit for Milo.  Most importantly, Milo rocks a comfy sweater or a bandana.  He is instagram ready with the cutest ears you'll ever see on a dog.  There is a lucky family out there who will get a well trained, confident, medium sized dog who is great with other dogs and likely to do well with kids of all ages.  Apply to meet sweet Milo. The adoption fee is $350 and covers age appropriate vaccines, a microchip, and a spay/neuter. Story
Danni is a 3 yr, 9mth old Cattle dog mix who is training to play ball for the major leagues one day. Her preferred pawrent would throw a ball for her all day long.  Her foster dad is encouraging her to expand her horizons and she is now enjoying long walks, squeeky toys, butt scratches, belly rubs and cuddles on the couch and bed.  She has mastered basic commands like "sit" and will now "wait" before eating her meal or exiting.  They are working on "paw", "lay" and "stay".  She appears to be potty trained and has not had any accidents in her foster home.  Danni had some past resource guarding tendencies so she should not go to a home with smaller kids.  She does tend to startle with loud noises and requires reassurance to settle down and relax in the car.  She does not seem to like other dogs but if her foster dad has her engaged in a game of fetch she is able to ignore the neighbor's dog barking at her. While Danni may be a bit anxious at first, she connects deeply with humans who show her compassion, patience, attention and have a good arm! Apply to meet Danni and she may do her spin excited dance for you! The adoption fee is $350 and covers age appropriate vaccines, a microchip, and a spay/neuter. The adoption fee helps cover the cost of these vetting procedures. If you want to meet this pet, or are interested in adopting, please submit an application.   After you have submitted an application and have been approved, we will setup a “meet and greet” between you and the pet. Applications are reviewed in order of receipt.  If everything goes well during the meet and greet, you can take the puppy home the same day.   Please be sure to follow us on Facebook to learn more about Town and Country Animal Rescue and our mission. ##950059##

Story
Major is a stunningly handsome 4 1/2 yr old tan and white bully mix. His personality is as impressive as his name.  He loves people, belly rubs, toys and a good wrestling match in the playyard.  He's not a huge fan of cardio but if his favorite volunteers invite him to walk, he eagerly agrees and rewards them with polite leash skills.  He does have high prey drive so walkers need to be on the lookout for squirrels and he does NOT like cats!  Major prefers to navigate life on his own terms so his humans need to be physically strong, confident, consistent and patient with him.  Major's strength and play style makes him best suited to join a family with older kids and adults.  As we've introduced him to other dogs we've found him to be not only dog friendly but best buddy material.  Underneath Major's chiseled handsome exterior is a soft heart with a ton of love to offer his humans.  He scores high on the "cuddle bug" scale and will melt into the couch with his favorite humans.  Major is quite the guy. You have to meet him to get the full extent of his awesomeness.  Apply to meet him. The adoption fee is $350 and covers age appropriate vaccines, a microchip, and a spay/neuter.
