Story
*Courtesy Post of a Very Special Girl* Hello ALL my friends, and YES, everyone is my friend! My name is Kaya and I'm a 4 year old female American Bulldog Mix but my foster mom thinks there might be a bit of baby hippo mixed in.  I'm a BIG chunk of love weighing in at about 75 pounds and I'm here to bring to bring joy, love, and happiness to you...but know I'm a on the lazy side so you will need to provide me with a comfy bed or sturdy lap to lounge on! Please read more about me below: PERSONALITY: Kaya is a goof and a love bug! There’s not much she takes too seriously. Besides treats. Treats are serious business! She will do just about anything for a treat. She even thinks her own kibble is a treat! She’s overall an easy dog that is sweet, happy, cuddly and isn’t overly energetic. She loves playing and is a bulldozer but relaxes and naps most of the day too. She doesn’t require mass amounts of exercise and is more than happy to lounge around in bed and watch tv with her humans. Oh! Almost forgot! She snores. It’s not quiet so possibly investing in ear plugs is a good idea! KIDS: Yes but over the age of 5 or 6 please! But how tough are your kids? She is a stumpy legged, thick bodied, giant headed, wrecking ball. No human, big nor small gets treated differently by Kaya, she loves them all. She thinks everyone is at the party for her so beware of being smooshed as she plays. She will then apologize by smothering your face with kisses and butt wiggles. She has lived with 3 kids, ages 3, 5 and 8. For the most part she is a lazy hippo letting kids of all ages pet and sleep next to her. Occasionally she will get the zoomies so littles need to be prepared to seek higher ground when Kaya tucks her legs under and kicks it into high speed. CRATE TRAINED: Perfection. Kaya never barks in it, chews, destroys, or has accidents while in her crate. She is also great with free roam once adjusted to a new environment. She happily snoozes in an open crate during the day if you’re working from home. No separation anxiety or barking while her humans are hard at work paying her food bills. POTTY TRAINED: Kaya will do her business on command on leash. She has never had an accident in her foster home. She lets out little whimpers letting you know she needs to go. A proper and tidy lady is what she is. HOME RECOMMENDATIONS: Family, or single human. She is ready to love all! There’s not much she takes too seriously. Besides treats. Treats are serious business! She will do just about anything for a treat. She even thinks her own kibble is a treat! She’s overall an easy dog that is sweet, happy, cuddly and isn’t overly energetic. This hilarious girl also loves her stuffies! She'll grab and go while frequently hitting herself in the head with them.  OTHER DOGS in HOME: At this time, we’re listing her as an only dog. Dog intros are tough. Kaya gets overstimulated and just goes right in. Other dogs don’t enjoy this. She does not have any barrier aggression and does not react when she meets another dog through a fence (foster mom has video of this) or on leash.  Kaya had to become somewhat of a dominant female to have survived for 3 months on the streets protecting herself. We are open to intros with a larger (50lb +) submissive male dog and continue to work on her impulse control. CATS: No…let’s go with no. No seems like a solid plan due to her HIGH PREY DRIVE. If you're loving for a huge head full of love, has jowls for days, can be a bulldozer but enjoys her naps most of the day this goofy love bug is for you! And as a bonus Kaya does not require mass amount of exercise. To meet this sweet adorable hippo, please apply at www.HavenAnimalRescueNebraska.org and be ready to fall in love! COURTESY POST! All meets will be conducted by her foster mom and she must be in indoor companion animal. Kaya is up to date on vaccinations, spayed, HeartWorm Negative, is on preventatives and is microchipped.        PLEASE SUBMIT AN APPLICATION AT: https://havenanimalrescuenebraska.org/adoption-application We do not have a facility. All of our animals are in volunteer foster homes. Once an application is pre-approved (contingent upon a home check) we will contact applicants that are a good match and set up a time for a meet. At that time we are happy to answer all of your questions. No inquiries prior to that please. All of our animals are spayed/neutered, examined by a vet, up-to-date on vaccinations, on heartworm and flea/tick preventatives, and microchipped. We adopt our animals as strictly inside companion pets. Story
Adoption Applications are now accepted for Edwin at www.HavenAnimalRescueNebraska.org   Meet our handsome cuddlebug Edwin! He is a 1 year old adorable tan and white Dachshund/Chihuahua mix that weighs about 18 pounds and all of those pounds want to be near you or on you. So free up space for this little shadow and enjoy his pure love and contentment!  Speaking of his joy for life, it's so amazing to see how far he has come in rescue and watch his little ears flap away and tail go 100 miles an hour when he gets the zoomies   Edwin survived a hoarding situation with 20 other dogs but has been experiencing the good life in rescue since November.  He's learned all about love and trust from his foster family and has blossomed into this dapper little dude that knows loves from both humans and his canine foster siblings of all sizes. He has also lived with cats and tends to ignore them!  Edwin is such a joy that we want hm to have what he didn't have in his past life....so give him a couch and he wants to lounge on the couch by you or on you, give him food and he'll show you how comfortable he is  now chowing down, give him toys and balls and he'll entertain you with his play skills and most of all give him another dog and he'll show you what it  really is to cuddle and snuggle another companion!  It is best if he has a resident dog fur buddy as he has gained much of his  confidence from his foster canine siblings. A fenced in yard is also preferred so no apartments please.    Edwin has proudly learned how to use the dog door, by following his pack outside and will also use it on his own and does great going outside with a regular door as well. Probably due to his past the wind is very scary to him, so he also has the option potty pads inside if needed. Babies and young children may also be too much for him but older ones are fine.  Since he is a bit timid it will be totally expected for him  to be tentative at first in a new home, but he will warm up quickly and will be a fantastic edition to your life.  Edwin is ready and so excited to be in his forever home. If you think that's you please submit an application to www.HavenAnimalRescueNebraska.org ADOPTION DONATION: $400 *ALL DOGS MUST BE INSIDE COMPANION ANIMALS! They must all be trained with positive reward based training and all are all up to date with vaccinations, altered, microchipped, HeartWorm tested, and on preventatives.   PLEASE SUBMIT AN APPLICATION AT: https://havenanimalrescuenebraska.org/adoption-application We do not have a facility.
