Story
Nilla is a loving 4 year old German Shepard. She is full of energy and loves to play. But she will also happily sit on your lap and watch some TV. She has anxiety which is triggered by noises. Her anxiety leaves her pacing and causes her to have frequent accidents. Unfortunately she currently lives next to a bus barn and have tried getting her adjusted for the past 4.5 years but we haven’t been successful. She gets excited and barks when people come over but quickly calms down and loves to just be around everyone. She is a sweet dog that just needs a little extra love and attention. Someone who has land and away from in town would be ideal!

Story
COURTESY POST FOR A VERY SPECIAL BOY!  FOSTER OR ADOPTER NEEDED! Papi is up for adoption or foster!! We would like to introduce you to the sweetest dog around...Papi! He is a 6-year-old Staffordshire Terrier who is looking for his very own home after living 5 of his 6 years in boarding under a local Lincoln rescue organization. When a few of us heard of Papi's situation we knew that we could not continue to allow him to live his remaining years in a cold kennel run. He is the most deserving old man and really needs a home to call his very own. Since Papi has not had socialization like a normal dog we decided to raise funds to pull him out of boarding and send him to behavioral training. He is currently in training and is doing so good and we are all so proud of the progress he has made. He wants to do good so badly and has been a very good student. He is currently learning leash training and he has been doing really well with a fancy leash that has him all about being under control! He is also being muzzle-conditioned so he can safely interact with the other dogs at the training facility. Because we don't know a lot about how Papi is with other dogs this is the safest and best way for him to interact so we can see what needs to be worked on! Currently, Papi is learning impulse control and how to be a dog as he has not played with or interacted with any for the last 5 years. Papi will need a foster or adopter who will be dedicated to continuing his training going forward and will be a strong leader for him! We want his next home to be the last one he will ever need in his life! That being said...this is what you will get if you adopt Papi: 1- A forever best friend and sidekick. 2- A snuggle buddy and couch potato. 3- A dog that will know that you saved his life and because of that he will be 100% dedicated to you. 4- Did I mention a snuggle buddy? 5- THE best hugger ever! 6- Last but not least...you will have given him what NO ONE else has stepped up to do...a life. A life with a warm couch and soft pets, an opportunity to roll in the grass and get belly scratches, a life outside a concrete floor, and a hard plastic bed. You will have saved his life! Most of all we want to find Papi his forever home and only YOU can help make that happen! Please share far and wide and help get this boy a place to call his own! If you are interested in adopting Papi or would like more information please email  taraschmidt74@gmail.com . We would love to put you in touch with his personal trainer (and not the body building kind!) so you can see if Papi would be the perfect fit for you!          PLEASE SUBMIT AN APPLICATION AT: https://havenanimalrescuenebraska.org/adoption-application We do not have a facility. All of our animals are in volunteer foster homes. Once an application is pre-approved (contingent upon a home check) we will contact applicants that are a good match and set up a time for a meet. At that time we are happy to answer all of your questions. No inquiries prior to that please. All of our animals are spayed/neutered, examined by a vet, up-to-date on vaccinations, on heartworm and flea/tick preventatives, and microchipped. We adopt our animals as strictly inside companion pets. We will do a veterinarian reference check and a home safety check. We are located in Omaha, NE and we do not ship our animals. We are all volunteers so please be patient with us. Our requested adoption fees help go towards medical expenses, food, transportation, toys, and other supplies for our animals. We are a state licensed, 501c3 nonprofit rescue and the adoption donation may be tax deductible for you.  Thank you for choosing adoption!! June 13, 2024, 4:21 am

Story
COURTESY POST! Meet Tostado who came into rescue 1/4/24 and is part of the Tortilla Terrier Group! He will be a smaller size dog.  He was born on 8/23/23 and weighs 10-15 lbs.  Tostado is your typical rambunctious puppy that just keeps on going and loves to play. He definitely has the terrier-tude and appetite so if you are looking for a sassy pup who will be by your side protecting you look no further.  He loves people and getting in lots of snuggles, kisses and playtime. He plays tug and wrestles with the other dogs and loves toys and especially good bones to chew on. Tostado can be startled easily and will hide or find someone to protect him when scared.  He has not been exposed to cats yet.  He will need someone with patience that’s willing to work with him on his basic commands and confidence as he gets distracted easily since he really would rather be playing.  Since he is a puppy, he will need to be potty trained so you will need to teach him where to go and how to ask until he gets the hang of it.  The current foster home has this group in a contained play area during the daytime where they can play.  They have a large pee pad down and are working on going outside to potty but sometimes they can’t wait. They have an open kennel in the pen that they use during the daytime to take naps and sleep in at night. If you are looking for an energetic puppy that will need LOTS of attention and patience, Tostado may be what you are looking for.  He needs toys to keep him occupied, maybe a playmate and of course lots of snuggles and kisses from you. Tostado is microchipped, spayed/neutered, and has received the 2nd of 3 sets of puppy shots.  He is fostered in the Omaha area with an adoption fee of $450.  If you have the love, time, and patience to watch him blossom into a loyal family member please apply at www.bassetandbeagle.com PLEASE SUBMIT AN APPLICATION AT: https://havenanimalrescuenebraska.org/adoption-application We do not have a facility. Story
I LIKE BIG MUTTS AND I CANNOT LIE! What up? The name is Skip, but I spell it $kip. I’m a 2 yr old, 80 lb, housebroken, crate trained, good-lookin’ mutt. Not 1 application has been turned in for me in 7 months though. Ain’t that a bunch of bull! I guess maybe it’s because I don’t like to kick it with other animals too much, but come on, I deserve a forever family too! I don’t need dog parks and play dates, but I’d love a running partner or a fenced in yard…And I don’t mean running from the cops or a fenced in prison yard. I want to sniff all the smells, snuggle with my people, chew all the bones and toys, go for car rides in the Benz, and be a loyal homeboy. I first came to this bada$$ rescue when they saved me and other animals from a hoarding/neglect case in a small Nebraska town. I had lived my whole life outside on a tight chain hooked to a tree…Unfortunately I’m not talking about a gold chain. The chain was basically embedded in my neck and required special equipment to remove. I had several canine siblings at that house who have since all been adopted, but now I’m requesting no more furry siblings for me. I love humans though and I dream about going on adventures with my own someday. I’m a strong guy, so your 92 year old Granny and your newborn baby are probably not great matches for my forever home. No disrespect.  I’ve been neutered, fully vetted and vaccinated, heartworm tested, microchipped, and I’m ready for my happy-ever-after! I would love to share my joy for life with you! My adoption donation fee is $250. Story
Looking for a walking buddy, an excuse to go to Omaha Dog Bar, a passenger for car rides, a loyal and furry BFF?? Look no further! Tito is approximately 1 1/2 years old, 60 lbs and possibly a Boxer mix (maybe with some Mastiff…or Poodle…or Chihuahua? Who knows and who cares?!). Tito loves his people and will be a loyal companion, not to mention an A+ snugglebug! He is great with older kids, dogs, and possibly even cats. He has the cute wigglebutt down pat and his adorable forehead wrinkles go on for days. He is the cutest love bug with a sweet personality to match. Tito came to us from a sad hoarding situation in a small nearby town. He’s really learning how to enjoy life now! Mr. Tito loves his walks and he gets better on leash each day. He’s a submissive pup, just learning boundaries and how to be the best good boy! He is fully housebroken now and crate trained. He’ll be up for an adventure with you and then happy to snuggle next to you on the couch and veg out. He is neutered, fully vetted and vaccinated, microchipped, heartworm tested, and ready for his forever family! His adoption donation fee is $350. Story
Little Thumper is a 1.5 year old happy girl and in foster care where she is loving and living it up! This sweetest girl is now ready to keep loving life with you but unfortunately she has had a sad start to life. Thumper is so happy and loves being right at your side. Running in the backyard and just being outside are some of her favorite things to do. Really she will go along with anything, just as long as she's by her companion.  Thumper is a 65 pound Weimaraner/pitbull mix who was found as a stray in a small town. She was then brought to a small shelter where she's spent the last 7 months until recently. She is so glad to be out! Thumper loves people and other dogs. She will snuggle as much as you want and will play non-stop with other dogs if you let her.  She is mastering some basic commands right now, and is very eager to please. No apartments please this beauty needs a fenced in yard! If you're seeking a devoted companion to bring joy into your life look no further Miss  Thumper is your girl!
