Story
There is a reason Piper's name rhythms with hyper, this girl has lots of energy and needs space to zoom. Once she is worn out she will cuddle in the cutest ways that warm your heart. She loves people and other animals, smaller breeds need to be wary though because her size doesn't always reflect her love for them. Growing up with a much smaller dog in the house has helped with training in that area, however she is too rough with cats.Piper is extremely receptive to food driven training and knows several tricks such as; sit, paw, lay down, kennel. Some more advanced commands such as go through, which means to go through your legs and sit beside you and behind where she will come behind you and sit between your legs.Piper needs a home with lots of attention and space. She might bark at small noises but will make a phenomenal guard for a family home. She comes with a kennel she will never outgrow, treats, toys and food bowls. All the essentials.

Story
We have a very special dog for you to meet. His name isn't unique or outstanding but his story and his personality certainly are! This is Buddy. Buddy arrived into foster care 12/7/24. No, thats not a typo. Buddy has been in foster care for over a year. He was 6mo old when we got him and sadly, Buddy had Anaplasmosis. Anaplasmosis; also known as tick borne disease; caused Buddy to have dangerously low platelet counts. He was one of those special babies we just wanted to wrap in bubble wrap to keep him safe but Buddy had other plans. He wanted to dog. He wanted to play. He wanted to run with his foster siblings. Carefully and under the very watchful eye of his foster mom; he did! Buddy got to be a dog. Buddy has fought to get healthy for a year. A year of prednisone and sometimes other meds when he had complications to be healthy enough to safely neuter and live a normal life. Buddy WON!! He took his meds like a champ and he learned every day! We are ecstatic to say Buddy is finally healthy! His blood counts have held without the meds!! On the outside he looks like a normal dog. Ok, maybe a little chunky but prednisone does that. On the inside he's steel from fighting his hard won battle. Buddy is officially ready to find his forever!! Here's what's most important to know about Buddy's future forever home. He's a very determined boy who needs a home that can not only set but maintain boundaries!! This is non-negotiable for him. He's a big boy and sometimes stubborn. Buddy is good with other dogs of all sizes. Buddy is very gentle when taking treats from children, when hes told to and his boundaries are in place. Cats are a hard no. Buddy is house trained and pretty good on a leash. He does still pull but he didn't get much practice as a pup because of his health issues. It was to risky to expose him to potential bites ect. When Buddy came to us his counts were so low that trimming a nail to short could be life threatening so he wasn't taken for many walks. He will need practice. Buddy is an amazing dog and has fought so hard to get to this point. He deserves the world!! Buddy does get along easier and faster with women than men but he loves everyone. Buddy is a special case. But he will forever be your Buddy if you let him.

Story
Tia got her first groom last Friday and did great! This special girl has come so far since joining rescue. Tia is a 10yr old Maltese mix who was surrendered from a puppy mill back in November. Shes been working in her socializing and learning what a house is. Tia is not your typical dog. She does well with puppy pads and does enjoy her outside time. Tia is still learning that humans are ok. And we don't blame her. When you spend the first 7yrs of your life in a puppy mill; it changes you. Thankfully her puppy having days are over. Tia is fully vetted. She will require a calm home with understanding people who get that shes not a lap dog. Her family will need to understand that she has to take things at her pace. Her kennel is her safe spot. She loves to watch her foster siblings and resident dogs from the comfort of her doggy bed in the safety of her kennel. She's been thru somethings and patience is the key with her. Her trust cant be rushed, it has to be earned. She would do best with another dog her size for a companion that she can learn from. She maybe older but she deserves to live the rest of her life in comfort and safety. With unconditional love, patience and understanding. #nonprofitanimalrescue #puppymillsurvivor #fosteringsaveslives #cuteness #fosterpuppylove #fosterpuppiesofinstagram #survivorstrong

Hank is a great dog. He is playful, obedient and so loving. He requires lots of exercise and play to quiet his brain. Hank needs a home where he has plenty of room to run and play and an owner that has time and energy to give him the attention he needs. Hank loves to play fetch and go on adventures. The ball is his favorite toy. He could play ball for hours. With the right training and patience, Hank could be the perfect companion and loyal friend.

Story
Major is a 5-year-and-4-month-old Bully mix, tug-toy connoisseur, and slow-living enthusiast who has been with us since 7/9/2022. If you’re looking for a dog who blooms under structure, adores predictable routines, and gives his whole heart to the person he trusts, Major just might be your guy. Major has had a couple of concerning bite incidents in the past—one involving a surprise encounter (based on the information we were given) prior to his arrival at Town and Country Animal Rescue (TAC) and another involving an unsolicited bite to a volunteer at TAC. While the reasons weren’t entirely clear, what was clear was that Major needed more support than we could provide on our own. So we partnered with a professional trainer, and for the last three months Major has been putting in the work. And wow—has he grown. Under leadership, Major absolutely thrives. He responds beautifully to clear communication, calm handlers, and environments where he knows what to expect. He’s come leaps and bounds in training, showing us every day that he wants to succeed and that he’s capable of being an incredible companion in the right home. Major’s ideal lifestyle? - Slow-paced days - Predictable routines - Low traffic housing (no apartment/shared living building spaces)  - A human he can depend on And above all else… his beloved purple tug toy (seriously—this thing is his personality at this point) To give Major the very best shot at success in his new home, his adoption will include a required training component: - One session per week for four weeks with Major’s professional trainer - At no cost to the adopter This ensures a smooth, supported transition and keeps Major practicing the skills he’s worked so hard to build. Major is the type of dog who bonds deeply, listens intently, and puts in genuine effort when he feels safe and understood. He’s not a “wing it” kind of guy—he’s a “give me a plan, give me a leader, and I will give you everything I’ve got” kind of dog. After over two years in the shelter, Major is more than ready for his chance. If you’re experienced, patient, and looking for a loyal, structured companion who will reward your consistency with devotion (and spirited tug sessions), Major may be the perfect match. Come meet him—and don’t forget the purple tug toy. Part of Major's adoption has been sponsored, so his adoption fee is $100 and covers age appropriate vaccines, a microchip, and a spay/neuter. Story
Meet Honey: An Independent Queen Looking for a Quiet Sanctuary At 8 ½ years young, Honey is a tiny Chihuahua with a beautiful, introverted soul. She has a past that has made her wary of humans, but she knows exactly what she wants out of her next chapter: a peaceful, safe place to simply be. The Magic of Honey: The Ultimate Peaceful Roommate: Honey isn’t looking for physical affection, cuddles, or pets—and she may never be. Instead, she offers a quiet, gentle presence. Providing a safe haven for a dog who just needs a place to land is a deeply rewarding experience in its own unique way. A Friend to the Flocks: She absolutely thrives around other animals! Honey currently coexists beautifully with both cats and dogs in her foster home. She draws confidence from her furry friends, so a home with a resident pet to help her feel secure and show her that humans can be kind is exactly what she’s hoping for. A Beautiful Spirit: She is quick, independent, and fiercely herself. As her foster family perfectly describes her: trying to catch her is "like trying to scoop up moonlight!" Honey’s Ideal Kingdom: Honey isn’t broken; she’s just writing her own rules. She is looking for a rare "unicorn" adopter who understands that giving love sometimes just means giving space. Securely Fenced Yard: This is a strict requirement, as she cannot be leashed or carried and has zero recall. Calm & Quiet: Preferably an adult-only home (no small children) with a predictable, serene environment for her to feel safe. If you have a quiet home, a gentle heart, and the patience to let a tiny queen exist safely and comfortably on her own terms, she's waiting for you!   The adoption fee is $250** + tax and covers age-appropriate vaccines, a microchip, and a spay/neuter. **Part of Honey Boo Boo's adoption fee has been sponsored, and is now $150! We're open from 12-4 PM Tuesday - Saturday! Did you know you don't need to have an appointment to visit our available cats and dogs***? If it goes well, you can take your new best friend home on the meet and greet day!  If you have other dogs in your home, they must all meet the potential adoptee.  It may save you a trip to bring them with you when you visit, if you are certain you want to adopt a new family member.  ***Please note that animals in foster homes cannot be viewed at our rescue, and appointments are still required to meet them.  Please be sure to follow us on Facebook to learn more about Town and Country Animal Rescue and our mission.  ##2355812##
