Story
You can fill out an adoption application online on our official website. 5/5/25 Update: Leni recently started having seizures. Full bloodwork was performed and came back perfect. Due to the severity and frequency of her seizures, a seizure medication has been started. So far it seems to be controlling her seizures as she has not had one since. Leni will likely need to be on this medication lifelong. Meet Leni, a lovely girl recently welcomed to Sioux Falls Canine Rescue. She is a Miniature Poodle. She weighs 11 pounds and is 5 years old. With a friendly and curious nature, she's always ready to greet you with an open heart and a little wag of her tail. This sweet girl is eager to find her forever home and become your new best friend. Though she's still adjusting to her new life, her warm personality is already shining through. She adores her foster mom and loves to be by her side at all times. She would thrive in a home where someone is around much of the time. Visit this organization's web site to see any additional information available about this pet.*All SFCR dogs are current on age-appropriate vaccinations (rabies, distemper, bordetella, and lepto), spayed/neutered (if at least 6 months of age), tested for heartworm & tick-borne disease, receive dentals if needed, are started on preventatives for heartworm and fleas/ticks, and microchipped. Prior to being rescued, many of our dogs have received limited socialization, so they may need extra time to adjust and settle in. Older children are often a great fit for our dogs, and family's with younger children will be considered based on each dog's individual needs. Skills like house training and leash walking may require a little extra patience and practice. However, with understanding and a gentle hand, most of our dogs adapt quite quickly. Story
You can fill out an adoption application online on our official website.Gretchen is a very sweet Mini Schnauzer in search of her forever family. She is doing very well in rescue and received a much needed and extensive dental. She is feeling so much better without all of that infection and pain in her mouth. Gretchen does well with other dogs in her foster home and she is discovering that toys are pretty fun to play with.  She is working hard on her housetraining and doing well but will need continued consistency, etc.    ADOPTION REQUIREMENTS: Physically fenced in yard - walking on a leash/harness is very much a work in progress. A fenced in yard is a must. Story
You can fill out an adoption application online on our official website.Ruby is a super sweet cavalier who came to SFCR as a breeder release. She is loving life in foster care and learning all about what a dog's life should be.  Ruby does have a grade III heart murmur. Chest x-rays and an echocardiogram did not show any signs of heart enlargement or disease progression and heart medications are not needed at this time. This is something that will need to be monitored with x-rays and/or an echocardiogram every 6 months or so.  Ruby mingles very well with other dogs in her foster home and seems to really enjoy their company. She is working hard on her housetraining.    ADOPTION REQUIREMENTS: Physically fenced in yard to keep her safe - no invisible fences. Financially stable family willing and able to keep up with Ruby's cardio care. Ruby would be happiest in a home with a canine companion. Ruby has been spayed and also had a much needed dental with a total of 15 extractions. She tested negative for heartworm & tick-borne disease, is current on vaccinations & monthly preventatives, and microchipped. Her adoption fee is $400 plus tax.
