Story
Hazel Jane is about 18 months old, 47 pounds, with medium energy. She was found on a highway in SC and brought up here to Vermont to find her forever family. Hazel loves to go for a walk or a hike w her human but will also nap for hours by the fire.  She plays w toys and wrestles (submissively) w her older bigger foster brother. She enjoys training and has learned sit, wait, and paw.  She is very funny and goofy at times and enjoys when you play with her. Hazel has been loving the snow! She is in the process of learning how to be off leash on hikes and has shown that she wants to stay w the pack.  Hazel does exhibit separation anxiety and takes a medication daily for this. She does well when she's able to settle down in the crate for a few mins before her human leaves. Hazel is very good w meeting new people, dogs and kids.  She lives at her foster home w chickens, cats, and 2 dogs and is very good w them. Please submit a completed application on our website with any interest or inquiries. Story
Dusty came to CVHS with his canine family, when his owner was moving and unable to take him along.True to his hound genetics, he can be a vocal boy, and will let you know when he`s ready for a walk, mealtime, or anything he feels you need to know. He is crate trained, and getting the hang of walking well on a leash. He has strong feelings about cats, and cannot live with any felines in his next home. He has a nose that likes to work, and loves to chew on a good toy. He has shown at CVHS, and in his prior home, to be selective with his canine friends, so he may need a home without other dogs. He was previously exposed to older children and did just fine. While with us, Dusty injured his ACL, so he has been on reduced exercise for over a month, and he is healing really well! He needs to go to a home where he can get plenty of exercise, but be contained enough to continue to heal. LOTS of sniffy walks and scent work will keep this boy happy and healthy.A 5-week Good Manners training course is included in Dusty`s $350.00 adoption fee. Please call the Adoption Center at 802-476-3811, or email info@centralvermonthumane.org, to schedule a time to talk to an adoption counselor about him, and to determine if you should meet Dusty.

Story
Nintendo came to us when his previous owner had health concerns that significantly limited how much time and attention Nintendo was getting, and his young dog needs were not being met.Nintendo was very insecure when he first arrived, quite confused about the changes in his life, but recently he has started to show us what a friendly, funny guy he is! He lived with small dogs in his prior home, and was reported to be very playful with them. He hasn`t had the chance to meet any dogs his own size here yet, so we don`t know if he`s open to other dog relationships. He has only been around adults, so we don`t know how he feels about children, and he`s never seen cats.Nintendo would probably do best in a relatively calm home, but with someone who can give him outlets for his energy, such as long sniffy walks, food puzzle boxes, and slow introductions to new life adventures. He does love the sound of his own voice, and can throw out a hearty hound bay, so apartment living won`t make sense for this guy.A 5-week Good Manners training course is included in Nintendo`s $350.00 adoption fee. Please call the Adoption Center at 802-476-3811, or email info@centralvermonthumane.org, to schedule a time to talk to an adoption counselor about him, and to determine if you should meet Nintendo.

Story
Are you looking to add some handsomeness to your daily life? Look no further as Caboodle has the looks, the brawn, and the sweetest heart (Is he the whole kit and caboodle??). Originally a stray who was not claimed, this hunk is looking for a companion that will take him on walks, spoil him with a good toy, and loves to snuggle. While he’s a muscular pup, he walks very well on leash, and is getting familiar with wearing a harness. He’s not vocal often but when he is, it’s laughable as they are sounds of snorts and sweet howls. We mentioned he loves a good toy and those toys in his next home should be for strong chewers as he can make them go “poof” quickly. Since he’s new to us and just had a lump removal and neuter, we have not had a chance to have him meet another canine yet. With Caboodle`s prior history being unknown to us, we are not sure if he has any exposure previously to cats or children. He recently had an overnight with a staff member, and he rode great in the car, was polite and calm in her home, followed her like a shadow, and loved getting under the covers in bed. He`d be just as happy to take over your bed, and to be your constant companion.A 5-week Good Manners training course is included in Caboodles`s $350.00 adoption fee. Please call the Adoption Center at 802-476-3811, or email info@centralvermonthumane.org, to schedule a time to talk to an adoption counselor about him, and to determine if you should meet Caboodle.

Story
Jiminy Cricket joined the CVHS crew when his size and energy level became too much for his owner`s mobility issues, and she knew he needed a home better suited to his needs. She told us he loves to play, and will even play fetch by himself, releasing a ball at the top of a hill, and chasing it as it rolls down! He knows his various toys by name, he likes playing in water (but not taking walks in the rain), enjoys a good snuggle, and loves to run, especially in a good game of chase with his dog friends.Cricket is learning to walk nicely on leash, but is still a bit of a puller, especially when he`d rather be playing in the new snow! He`s a very playful and friendly guy, and will do well in a home that recognizes his need for activity. He did spend time with kids under 10, but he`s still a bit jumpy, so any children in the family will need to be sturdy, as he`s still learning that four-on-the-floor is a better behavior. A 5-week Good Manners training course is included in Jiminy Cricket`s $350.00 adoption fee. Please call the Adoption Center at 802-476-3811, or email info@centralvermonthumane.org, to schedule a time to talk to an adoption counselor about him, and to determine if you should meet Jiminy Cricket.
