Story
Just like the line “I’ll be your Huckleberry” implies, this boy wants you to know he is the man for the job. He’s loyal, playful, and a little bit legendary. Meet Huckleberry, a pint-sized boy with the perfect balance of athletic and fun-loving, adoring and independent. Take a look at his cuteness in action here-https://youtu.be/RogBkrreMos Huckleberry is just over a year old so he is bringing that attentive, eager to learn energy with a perfect amount of yes-man energy. Whether you want to go for a run or spend the night in- Huckleberry is all in. Huckleberry weighs 40 lbs fully grown and sure looks like a German Shepherd/Coyote mix but you didn’t hear that from me. Luckily we do have DNA results for Huckleberry and, as usual, we were surprised by his results. Despite his looks he doesn't have an ounce of German Shepherd in him, he is in face a Siberian Husky/American Bully. Wild right? He’s great on leash, crate-trained, and smart as can be. He knows his basic cues (“sit,” “drop it,” and “no”) and listens well to a confident, consistent handler. He’s a healthy eater, loves walks and runs whether they are long hauls or short strolls. Huckleberry is a people lover and friendly but he really lights up with a playmate. He does best with a playful female and would love an in-home buddy but regular dog playdates could fill his playful side. He loves to wrestle and chase so his best connections have been with dogs that a equally play driven, a little rough and tumble, but know how to take breaks and keep things light-hearted. Huckleberry will need a cat free home (refer to his love of chase for reason(s) why), and he would prefer a home that’s not in a busy area- he’s more comfortable where traffic and loud surprises are minimal. For some of the same reasons, his best match will be an adult household with people who appreciate a loyal, spirited companion and love a dog with personality. His foster shared a few of her favorite things about Huck offering a list, we will share a few here- •He gives kisses! •He loves loves loves walks! •He loves all toys and independently plays with them like no other dog I have ever seen! •He is not destructive! •He loves neck massages and belly rubs! •He has the most unusual and cute howl! •He likes to cuddle! •He is funny and has the spunkiest personality! •He has medium-high energy but also loves for his humans to sit down and just “be”. That’s when he loves his bones and his toys! •He hugs my legs from behind with his two front legs when he first sees me in the morning Huckleberry is a smart and spirited boy- that’s what makes him so lovable- he will thrive with an experienced adopter who isn’t afraid to set boundaries, stick to a routine, and let him earn his freedom slowly when he arrives home. Here he is, your Huckleberry! Ready for love and adventure and everything in between. Ready? Apply here- https://adopt.animalsfirst.com/animal/62cc8e128b02916730334440/687124794f02a615cc09c487 Questions? The adoption fee is $900 and includes all vetting (DAPP with booster, Bordetella, Rabies vaccine, multiple broad spectrum deworming treatments, spay/neuter, flea prevention, a 12 month heartworm preventative injectible, heartworm test and treatment if needed, a microchip with free lifetime registration, a high quality nylon Martingale collar, a health certificate deeming the pup healthy for travel, cost of transport*, and priceless years of love and loyal companionship! We have over 15,000 successful adoptions so far and have excellent Google Reviews: https://g.co/kgs/UQ5Pyai We care deeply about making the perfect match between dog and family for long term success. Our rescue has a 2 acre property in Texas where we assess every animal with trainers on staff, we modify behavior as needed, and create individualized behavior plans to help prepare dogs for their future families including crate training, potty training, leash walking, etc. Our fosters are able to attend group trainings and socialization play groups to keep dogs adoption-ready. Our on-site trainers support the positive growth of our dogs and we enjoy seeing their progress! Our commitment to comprehensive medical care sets us apart. We've received glowing feedback from veterinarians who commend our dedication to ensuring the health and well-being of every animal in our care with treatments that often go above and beyond. Our adoption fees reflect the extensive care and resources that go into each animal we save. The adoption fee is a donation to the mission and goes far beyond getting a fully vetted pet. The rescue’s hard costs alone for a healthy dog to go through our program typically range between $412 to $859, which includes boarding, food, medications, vaccines, and spay/neuter. For heartworm-positive dogs, hard costs are upwards of $1,120. Additionally, dogs requiring extended boarding, extra training, or extra medical care—such as dental work, vision care, or orthopedic care—can lead to expenses running into the thousands. Also, included in the fee are costs to cover transport up to the Pacific Northwest or East Coast. While adoption fees help cover part of these expenses, we want to emphasize that Three Little Pitties Rescue is not government funded. It doesn’t stop there! Our adopters also receive these SPECIAL PERKS: Extensive behavioral testing and information from trainers on our staff to ensure the perfect fit for your family Discounts on Embark DNA test kit- $30 off of Breed ID test & $50 off of Breed ID plus Health test 30 day trial of pet insurance with Trupanion A free private online dog training session with GoodPup, plus low pricing for future sessions 70% off of your first order of Fetch, a delicious PNW based fresh dog meatballs subscription Coupons for a fun visit to Petco 20% off of Dr. Cuddles pet first aid and hygiene solutions Discounted heartworm, flea prevention, and monthly dewormer Access to our exclusive FB Adopters page, where you can network for play dates, resources, and connect with other adopters that share their passion for their adopted pup! Did you know that the Greater Houston area faces some of the highest stray and overpopulation rates in the nation? We are a non profit charity. Our goal is simple— to reduce the homeless pet population through community outreach, free spay and neuter services, and by rescuing animals from the streets or overcrowded shelters where euthanasia due to lack of space is often the only option. The dog you've found online is not only lucky to be in our program, but also incredibly fortunate to have caught your eye. Thank you for considering adoption and for joining us in our mission! Follow our rescue journey and connect with us on our website and social media platforms.  IN VERMONT  Meet Charlie! More information coming soon! Charlie is 5 years old, male (approx. DOB 12-8-20), 22 lbs., vetted, is or will be neutered and micro-chipped. If you are interested in adopting Charlie, please fill out an Application at  www.Passion-4-Paws.org  (please make sure you have the Vermont site, not CT) - thanks! Please note that fosters have 1st option for Adoption. Check out his Facebook Profile and like us while you are there! Disclosure:   Breed labels are often incorrect: we rarely know the genetic lineage of the dogs we rescue.  Many shelters and rescues specify breeds based on appearance; however, research has shown that less than 2% of a dog’s DNA determines appearance!   Passion 4 Paws does not practice the use of labels pertaining to compatibility with others or dog breed.  Labels such as “dog friendly” and “child friendly” should be used with caution as they often over-simplify the personalities and behavior of dogs.    February 21, 2026, 9:02 am

IN VERMONT   AVAILABLE FOR FOSTER TO ADOPT UNTIL SHE FINDS A HOME! Meet Angel! More pictures and video below or to come! Angel is a 4 1/2-year-old female (approx. DOB tbd), 40 lbs., vetted, and is or will be spayed and micro-chipped. Angel's owner unfortunately, had to surrender her for medical considerations; she took a bad fall and has a very long recovery to rehabilitate after surgery. Angel is good with other dogs, maybe cats (all cat & dog relationships are different), is shy and can be fearful in new situations (but treats help and another dog would build her confidence), has medium energy, is potty trained, and rarely barks. Angel is very sweet and loves to be outdoors! She would be happiest in a home with somene that will provide her exercise and emotional enrichment, who has another dog-friendly dog! If you are interested in adopting Angel, please fill out an Application at  www.Passion-4-Paws.org  (please make sure you have the Vermont site, not CT) - thanks!
