Story
Meet Iris! This friendly Tortoiseshell cat was born around May 2022 and was found as a pregnant stray. Iris will let you place her in your lap, staying for short sessions of petting or brushing. At other times she likes to sit next to you. Iris tolerates being picked up, preferring to be held upright. She enjoys playing with toys by herself and interactive ones with you. Iris is kitten-active and affectionate on her terms. She is hesitantly friendly with strangers after about an hour and if you are late for meal time she will tell you so. Iris tolerates most dogs, prefers male cats, and hasn’t met kids, but should be fine with respectful ones over age 7. She uses a scratching post and has fine litterbox habits. Her older kittens are available. If you are gone 7 or more hours a day, please consider adopting two cats, as one cat usually gets bored. Two cats are easier to care for than one (they self-entertain while you are at work), and they are emotionally healthier (don’t get lonely and bored). This cat and others are available at Cat Tales Rescue. Cats have been vet checked, spayed/neutered, wormed, tested for FIV/FeLV, have distemper and rabies shots. Adoption fees are $200+tax, and for cats age 6+ the fee is $175+tax. Calicos and Siamese are $250+tx. Story
Henry is a quiet, active, mostly black kitten born June 2023. He is friendly with known people and shy around strangers. He greets you at the door, ankle rubs, and follows you around for a while. Henry is friendly and affectionate on his terms, tolerating being picked up, and enjoying brushing and petting. He jumps into your lap when you sit and stays for a short while, preferring to sit next to you. At times he rolls around in the foster mom's lap when she sits down. Henry purrs on contact with his trusted person. He is passive with cats, tolerates calm dogs, and hasn’t met kids, but if they are respectful, Henry should be fine. He enjoys watching wildlife at the window, playing with toys by himself or with you, and with the water in his dish. He has fine litterbox habits. Henry and his siblings were part of an unplanned litter. Are you the patient person willing to give him time to trust and blossom in a new setting and you be rewarded with a special relationship with him? If you are gone 7 or more hours a day, please consider adopting two cats, as one cat usually gets bored. Two cats are easier to care for than one (they self-entertain while you are at work), and they are emotionally healthier (don’t get lonely and bored). Story
Delilah is all white except for a black tail and 2 spots on her head. The vet thinks she was born in 2019. Delilah is quiet, avoidant of strangers, friendly with her trusted persons, and affectionate on her terms. She accepts a little brushing on her back, shies from petting, and doesn’t want to be held. If there is no competition, she rolls over on her tummy when playing with wand toys and also plays by herself with toys. Delilah enjoys watching wildlife at the window. She gets along with male cats and is competitive with some girl cats. Delilah has not met dogs or kids under age nine. She enjoys the company of her calico daughter, Dotty. Delilah needs a patient adopter willing to give her time to trust and blossom to be the nice cat that she is. She uses a scratching post and has fine litterbox habits. This cat and others are available at Cat Tales Rescue. Cats have been vet checked, spayed/neutered, wormed, tested for FIV/FeLV, have distemper and rabies shots. Adoption fees are $200+tax and for cats age 6+ the fee is $175+tax. Some special breeds are $250+tax. Story
Hi, my name is Leaf, I am from Texas. From the foster: Leaf is a very sweet kitten, and a little shy! She loves to have a cozy space she feels safe in, and has been slower to explore her foster home, but every day she gets a little braver, especially with the encouragement of her sibling Pablo! Even though she is a bit nervous, she is so so sweet and once she gets totally comfortable she will be the most loving and gentle cat! She loves her wet food, looking out the window, and cuddling with Pablo.

Story
A portion of my adoption fee has been sponsored by my friends at The Murray Fund. The adoption fee sponsorship credit of $100.00 will be applied during the contract process Hi, my name is Hootie! I'm a transfer from a local impound in MN. From the foster: Hi, I'm Hootie! I bet you have never met a kitten as spunky as me! I love to do all your typical kitten things like running, jumping and pouncing! But you know what I love more? Wrestling! Once all my wrestling charades are over, I'm ready to snuggle and show you my soft side. I came into the rescue as a single kitten with no siblings, so I'm still learning to be a gentleman. Because I didn't have siblings to show me the ropes, I'm still a little mouthy and can play a bit rough with other cats and dogs, which means I might not be the best choice for small children. I would love to have a buddy to play with and continue to show me to be the best little kitty I can be! Medical Bio:Hello! Throughout my veterinary care at Secondhand Hounds, it was discovered that I have a grade 4/6 heart murmur. I had a cardiologist and echocardiogram performed. The SHH Vet Team recommends that I stay on my current medication and have an echocardiogram rechecked in 6 months. My future adopter can choose to pursue further cardiac consultation/treatment per a primary veterinarian's recommendations at their own expense.

Spayed or Neutered,
Story
Hi, my name is Gizmo! I'm an owner surrender from Minnesota! From the foster: Gizmo is a very easy going cat. She's affectionate and wants to be petted any time she's not eating or sleeping. She likes to sleep on the bed. She likes to get a treat or two at bedtime. Then she will snuggle by your side and want more petting. She likes to look out the window at the birds in the yard. She's a senior cat so she's not energetic. She likes her horizontal scratcher but has shown no interest in the cat tree, the kitchen counter or anything that requires higher than the bed. She's very easy to take care of. She's a senior cat and I've been giving her canned senior cat food. She likes drinking from the tap in the bathtub. I live alone so I don't know how she will do with other pets or children. She likes to be petted but when she's had enough she will let you know. Older cats often develop health issues. In her case it's Stage 1 kidney disease which is very common. It doesn't require any special care or food at this time. She does pee a lot. She was throwing up hairballs regularly so she's getting smaller meals more often and that seems to help. How she will do with kids or other pets is unknown but I think older children who know how to be gentle would be ok. Medical Bio:While being looked at by the Veterinarian at SHH Vet Center, my urine was tested and found to be more dilute than is normal for cats and my kidney enzymes showed that I may have Stage 1 IRIS chronic kidney disease. No treatments or diet changes are required for me at this stage, but my future adopter should pursue annual care such as bloodwork and urine testing with a primary care vet.

Spayed or Neutered,
Story
Hi, I'm Turtle Dove. I'm a transfer from a local MN shelter. From the foster: Turtle Dove is one independent lady. Her personality starts to shine bright once she gets to know you. She loves her chin scracthes and her cuddles. She has her zoomies and likes to solo play. She can be picky about her food and generally likes things her way and she isn't afraid to let you know. She's definitely a cat who takes a while to warm up, but once she does you'll find a loyal friend. She sleeps a lot and loves anything warm (heat pad, vents, blankets) so you can usually find her snoozing. She does ok with other cats, it just takes slow intros. She doesn't love kittens because she doesn't like to be pounced on or swatted at. Medical Bio: "Hi! My name is Turtle Dove and I cannot wait to meet you and settle into my forever home. I will need a home that is special and can provide some extra TLC. I have had a few issues that have been ongoing since I arrived in rescue. My main medical struggles have been with my arthritis/degenerative bone disease, currently being treated with a monthly injection, issues related to my Stage 2 chronic kidney disease, asthma and a few teeth that got extracted a few months ago. Kidney disease is fairly common in older kitties and cats that have a good plan for medical management can still live very full lives! My struggles have manifested in some loss of appetite or struggles with eating and occasionally blood in my urine. I will likely be on a prescription kidney diet for my remaining years. My foster mom says I have been dealing with my inhaler well and my asthma is well managed at this stage. I know it seems like I have a lot going on, however my vet team is very hopeful that I will continue to improve as long as my future family is able to keep up with this management plan! Hope to meet you soon, I know you'll fall in love with me in my golden years of being the perfect lap cat!"

Story
I am Uno. I am from Minnesota. From her foster: Uno is shy and seems to be a one person cat. She only spends time with my daughter. Uno doesn't like to be held or sit on your lap. We have to bring her in to get her nails clipped every 4-5 weeks. She won't allow us to do it at home. Uno would adapt to a smaller family without pets. She eats cat food, but would prefer people food. She was a stray before we received her November 2023
