Story
Dog Name: Elektra Age: 2 years old (as of 9/15/21) Gender: Female Weight: 25 kgs / 55lbs Breed: German Shepard Mix Spayed/Neutered? Yes Vaccinated? Yes  HeartWorm Negative?  Yes Good with Dogs? Yes Good with Kids? Yes Good with Cats? She has been around cats during her rescue process. Caution with proper introduction required.  Has experience on a leash?  Yes Potty Trained? Yes Crate Trained? Yes Where does the dog stay when it is alone?  In her kennel space, currently she is in an outdoor facility among other dogs.  Where does the dog sleep?  On her bed in her kennel. Temperament/Personality: She is a personal dog, loyal, protective but in a positive way, as shepherds are very loyal to their family members. Elektra is dog and cat friendly, loves to play with other dogs but her favorite is to play fetch! Elektra is pretty smart and food motivated so it's easy to train her. She has also been under basic training as she loves to learn. She loves to tag along her “person”, she behaves very well in the car and she is very forth coming and curious about her surroundings.  What does the dog's ideal home look like? Her ideal home would be a family that loves to do outdoor activities since Elektra is also an agile and energetic dog but she can also adjust to a low-key home environment.  What is the dog's rescue story?  Elektra was rescued when she was only 5 months old living in a mechanical workshop where she spent most of the day tied up, fortunately her rescuer spotted her and managed to convince the owners to let her take Electra to a better environment in the hopes of finding her a suitable home. No good adoption options have come forward in Mexico for Electra so her rescuer has looked after Electra to try to keep her out if arms way and committed to make her a happy dog.  Elektra is waiting in Mexico until a family is committed to fostering her or taking him on a trial. If you are interested, apply at www.northwestwagrescue.org his adoption fee is $550 ##1868990##

Good with kids, Good with dogs, Spayed or Neutered,
Story
Dog Name: Kieve Age: 2 (as of 2/08/24) Breed: German Shepherd Good with dogs? Yes, currently lives with two King Charles Spaniels Good with kids? Loves kids and doesn’t get excited by ear tugs or tail pulls. Good with cats? Hasn’t been exposed to cats. Neutered/Spayed? Will be neutered on the 28th of Feb. 2024 Up-to-date on vaccines? Yes Microchipped? Yes Has experience on a leash? Yes, Kieve loves to go on walks. When he walks on a shortened leash he will walk on your left hand side. He loves to be rewarded with treats for walking properly. He is equally happy using his nose to explore ahead of you as he walks. At approximately 80 lbs he is strong, so needs someone with firm control. He also reacts to “some” cars passing by so will need more exposure to noises and speed to lessen his anxiety.  Potty trained? Yes, Kieve can be left in the house for 8+ hours with no accidents.  Crate trained? Yes, Kieve is content once inside his crate but loves the game of “catch me if you can” before going in. Where does the dog stay when it is home alone? He is happy in his crate OR waiting for you near the door or on the comfy couch.  Where does the dog sleep? Kieve loves to sleep next to the family bed, outside a child’s room, or on the stair landing…making sure that his family is well protected.  When does the dog eat? Kieve eats twice a day, morning and evening, with a few extra treats throughout the day. What does the dog eat? Costco salmon dog food. For treats he loves Milk Bones and/or Hide Free Chicken Recipe Chews (Costco)  Temperament/Personality: Kieve is a member of the family. He loves his parents and his siblings. He greets them energetically: body wiggling, tail wagging, and with kisses.  He wants to share his toys and play fetch…if you can keep up. If he doesn’t get enough exercise or is always home alone, he becomes anxious.  What does the dog's ideal home look like? Kieve’s perfect home is full of activity. Whether it’s many kids to play with, or a single active adult, he will thrive with ample exercise and love. The size of the home doesn’t matter but time together does.  The perfect day for Kieve starts with a walk around the neighborhood or romp in the yard. Sometime during the day he’d love to play fetch, once, twice, three times, you get the idea. And a second walk to end the day.     What are the dog’s strengths? Kieve is very smart and would love a job. Maybe it’s to be your best friend, running partner, or personal coach. He loves to play and will connect with your inner child. And he is very smart. His powerful nose can find a wet soggy tennis ball in a six-foot pile of leaves, drop it at your feet, and challenge you to another round.  What is the dog still working on? Kieve must always be on a leash or inside a fenced area. If he slips out the front door he RUNS. We’ve found that the best way to get him back is to follow him in a car and open the door. He loves to go for a ride and will jump right in. Unfortunately, he will get in anyone’s car and isn’t aware of road dangers. Kieve has also lived with canine companions and gets along well, but we’re not sure if he loves ALL dogs. So, in the beginning, as you're getting to know each other, common spaces with unfamiliar dogs should be handled in small exploratory sessions. Kieve is also quick on the stairs, so use caution as you go up and down, it’s pretty much guaranteed that he will bump by you, to beat you to the top…or bottom.  What can they improve? Kieve learns quickly but needs consistent instruction in following commands. He was rescued from an unsafe situation and has been cared for by different family members with varying expectations. Once he is in his forever home, his new family will be able to train him easily. He is very smart and wants to please. If your foster were a celebrity, who would they be? Jim Carrey when he played the Mask. Normally Kieve is calm (when he’s with his people).but give him a ball (or mask) and he is obsessed and ready to go! If your foster dog were on a dating site, what would their profile say? Handsome, strong male who’s not afraid to show his sensitive side. Loves to warm your feet, lay by your side, and support your every adventure. His three goals in life are to work side-by-side with his pack members, to play, play, play and play some more, and to know that you love him as much as he loves you. Beach or Mountains? Both! Kieve loves running over hills, through brush, and on rugged trails. Or give him a bucket of balls and the beach and you’ll have one happy boy! Squeaky/Bouncy/Chewy, what do they look for in a toy? We’ve found that in the house, bones make the most sense. They satisfy his need to chew but are indestructible. Stuffed animals tend to get eaten or ramp up his anxiety as he looks for someone to play fetch with. For outside play the winner is…ball, ball, ball. Or a stick in a pinch. Complete this sentence “My foster wishes they had a friend with whom they could share…” everyday adventures like running, walking, playing fetch, and belly rubs. He also would love grand adventures. Anything you can do “he” can do better! What’s your foster’s favorite dessert? Bone marrow and Hide Free Chicken Recipe Chews (Costco)  Kieve's adoption fee is $350 www.northwestwagrescue.org ##1959100##

Dakota doesn’t have her own space, but she is an independent dog that allows herself to be apart from the pack. Where does the dog sleep? At the moment she has to share her space with other dogs as her foster has other rescues at the boarding facility.  Temperament/Personality: Dakota is an adorable girl who radiates love and happiness. Her joy comes to life when playing with other dogs and with her human. She's a natural explorer, brimming with energy, and she gets excited as she races around the garden at full speed. Of course, she also happily indulges in sweet naps. She's passionate about walks and treats, delighting in affectionate moments and belly rubs. Her charm extends to excellent relationships with both other dogs and children. Dakota is learning to walk on a leash and do her business in the right place. What does the dog's ideal home look like? Her ideal home would be a family that loves to do outdoor activities since she is energertic and loves to explore, play and run but can also adjust to a low-key home environment as she enjoys to be by her humans side. What is the dog's rescue story? The charming Dakota has overcome a challenging start, with ropes knotted around her neck and a significant weight loss, reflecting a history of mistreatment on the tough streets of Guadalajara México. Although we don't know precisely how long she endured this situation, it's evident that she suffered a great deal. However, one day, her life took an extraordinary turn when she was rescued by her guardian angel. With patience and love, Dakota regained confidence in herself and in people. Now, she enjoys days filled with joy and fun. Intelligent and observant, Dakota yearns to find an active family to share exciting adventures. Are you ready to give this lovely girl a second chance? Dakota is waiting in Mexico until a family is commited to fostering her or taking her on a trial. If you are interested, apply at www.northwestwagrescue.org his adoption fee is $550 ##1877902##
