Story
Buddy is a wonderful Happy Go Lucky Giant Puppy! He loves all people and other dogs and craves love and attention. Buddy was surrendered to a shelter when his owner fell sick. We believe the previous owner did not have much time to work with Buddy. While Buddy has a great disposition he needs some guidance , structure and manners! Buddy is a playful energetic pup who is looking for a family that will match his energy. He loves walks, runs and playing with other dogs. He will need a family willing to work with him and be consistent helping to teach him some manners. He has only been in rescue a week but is learning quickly how to behave and we are confident with more time and commitment he will only continue to learn to grow. While Buddy loves people and other dogs, his one fault being a little too much. Buddy loves to jump and hump as an outlet for his excitement. He can also get so excited he becomes a bit mouthy so for this reason would do best with families with either no children or older children. These two behaviors have improved so much in just one week, he is a very smart dog. A playmate that matches his playstyle and loves to play would be wonderful for Buddy as he is a great playmate, both respectful and submissive. If his adoptive family does not have another dog in the home that is certainly ok but it will be very important Buddy has a family who is willing to spend the time working with and exercising him! Story
"Daisy Requiers Another Confident Dog In the Home" Hello, I'm Daisy, a pup with quite a story to tell. My life began on a vast breeding farm, where the world was an endless cycle of sameness, the heavy chain around my neck a constant reminder of my purpose: to bring new puppies into the world for the farmer. It was a monotonous existence, but it was all I knew. Then, everything changed. Humans came and took me away from the only life I had ever known, and suddenly, I was thrust into a world full of terrifying new experiences. Living inside a house was a concept as alien to me as the moon. The sounds were so different – the scrape of chairs on hardwood floors sent shivers down my spine. I had never really interacted with humans before, and now they were everywhere, wanting to be close, to touch me. They were kind, but kindness was a language I was only just beginning to understand. I was always on alert, ready to bolt to safety at any moment. The floors were a patchwork of textures, some hard and slick, others soft and yielding, and I found it all very disconcerting. Leashes were another source of fear; they had only ever been used to control me harshly, so I despised them. Under the dining table, I discovered a sanctuary, a place where the world couldn't reach me, and it became my haven. Slowly, I'm learning to trust these new humans. They offer me treats, little tokens of a kindness I'm still trying to comprehend. But trust is a journey, and I'm taking it one cautious step at a time. They speak of a 'forever family,' a concept that fills me with both hope and apprehension. A family where I might finally learn what it means to feel safe and loved. Could you be the one to show me this beautiful new world? Could you be my forever family?     Dear Prospective Adopter, Daisy is a resilient soul who has been under our care for some time now. Daisy's journey has been one of quiet strength and gradual healing. She came to us with a heart full of fear, a spirit wary of the world around her. She spent 24/7 beneath our dining table, the only place she felt secure. Yet, through patience and gentle coaxing, we've seen glimmers of trust begin to emerge. Our approach has been one of small, consistent steps. We began by shifting her food and water, inch by inch, further into the room, encouraging her to venture out from her safe haven. High-value treats, like savory bacon, were scattered just beyond her reach, a tempting trail leading her to new ground. We tread lightly in her presence, our movements deliberate and unhurried, always mindful of her sensitivity. As we sit by her side, our voices soft, Daisy has started to accept our company. She shows a preference for the nurturing presence of women, though with time, she's learning that men too can offer kindness. Recently, she's discovered the comfort of a gentle touch, allowing slow, tender pets that speak of growing confidence. Daisy's needs are simple yet profound. She asks for a home where patience is abundant, where the echoes of her past traumas can fade into distant memories. A family with a calm presence, experienced in the language of dogs, would be her ideal sanctuary. A fenced yard would provide her the freedom to explore without the fear and chain that once bound her. Another confident dog, who could help teach her the ropes of being a dog.  While Daisy's road to becoming a cuddly companion may be long, the rewards promise to be immeasurable. To witness her transformation, to be the guiding light in her world of shadows, is a chance to forge a bond of extraordinary depth. We are prepared to foster her for as long as she needs, but should a very special forever home beckon—a home willing to embrace her as she is and dedicate themselves to her growth—we are ready to step aside to allow another family to write Daisy’s next chapter of recovery together. We hold onto hope for Daisy's future, a future filled with love and security. Perhaps, in reading this, you feel a stir within your heart, a call to be part of her story. Could you be the one to unlock the full potential of her gentle spirit? With hope, Daisy's Foster Family ##1891244##

You can fill out an adoption application online on our official website. Thank you for stopping by to see me!  Please fill out an application to set up  a private meeting.  I’m on the hunt for a very special loving home who is willing to work diligently with my confidence.  I’m extremely shy and am much braver on the outside than I am on the inside.  I love my kennel as I use it as my safe space.  When I feel nervous or unsure, I retreat there and hide. I’m very, very sweet and still learning all about receiving love and affection and I do like it!  I do enjoy hanging out with people but I also have a mischievous side when I think you’re not looking.  Away from home is hard for me.  I am so nervous and freeze with anxiety.  I will bolt if I get the chance.  So I will need a fenced yard as even leashes are new.  I am 99% potty training when on a schedule and am clearly crate trained, since that’s where I feel the most safe.  But I do know some commands like “sit, outside, go potty.” If you say “in” by my kennel, that’s when I know you want me to get inside.  So I’m super smart!  I would love to have another confident dog in my forever home to help me learn how to be a dog and teach me all the things.  You’ll find me to be loving, gentle, shy, sweet and absolutely precious.  But if you are patient enough to help me over my anxieties, I promise to reward you with all the love and affection you expect from a dog . *Please note that some of our dogs are obtained from shelters, surrendered to our care, or released from breeders.  Each animal's bio is based on our experience of the animal within our care, an educated guess based on physical characteristics, temperament and information shared.  Each dog receives basic grooming when coming into rescue, but for some dogs they have not received grooming attention until recently and grooming may be required shortly after adoption.  This will be at the adopters expense, so we encourage you to research the breed and be prepared for grooming expenses .   Underdog cannot guarantee hypoallergenic or non shedding qualities of any dogs in our rescue.   Some of the animals come from situations where they are lacking experience in a home and confidence in humans. In turn, they require another companion dog and/or a fenced in yard in th eir forever home in order for them to feel safe. If you are interested in a    particular dog whose bio states those needs and do not currently have them, please understand that your home might not be the right fit.  Please use the filter on our Adoptable Dogs page to find the perfect match for your home.     ***Be sure to check your spam/junk folder as sometimes our emails end up there***  Visit this organization's web site to see any additional information available about this pet.If you have other questions about me you can email Underdog Rescue at <inquiries@underdogrescuemn.com> ADOPTION EVENTS:      Adoption events are updated at the top of each dogs animals' as their foster home signs up. Check back for updates on which events they will be attending. If an event is not listed within their bio above, the animal is not planning to attend.  Please understand that all of our pets are in volunteer foster homes and sometimes "life" happens and the foster family cannot make it to their scheduled adoption event. If you are traveling from a far distance to meet a specific animal, please understand we cannot guarantee event attendance. We recommend filling out an application and we will set up a private appointment. Private appointments are only scheduled after an application is submitted and approved. ADOPTION PROCEDURE: The first step in our process is to complete an online adoption application on our website: http://www.underdogrescuemn.com/adoptionprocess/   Note: In most circumstances Underdog Rescue will only adopt within 60 miles of Minneapolis, MN.  All of our foster animals can be seen by appointment with an approved adoption application. Contact us at http://www.underdogrescuemn.com/contact-us/ if you have further questions. FOSTER CARE: All of our animals are fostered in individual homes or doggie daycare facilities. While they are in our care, they are part of our families and given lots of love. We work on training, crate-training and socialization prior to adoption, but each bio is written by the foster as they see them, in their home. Each animal's behavior is evaluated and we have a sense of its temperament and personality, but it cannot be guaranteed. We look for adopters who will give each animal the wonderful life and permanent home that he or she deserves in time and with patience.  If you have an interest and ability to be a foster home, please visit our website  www.underdogrescuemn.com/foster-applications  and fill out a foster application. NUTRITION: Nutrition is vital to the rehabilitation and life-long health of our pets.  All of our foster animals are fed a premium diet such as NutriSource, Canidae, Orijen, Nature's Variety, Fromm, Pure Vita, Stella and Chewy's, Primal, or balanced raw diet.  All adopters are required to continue providing premium diets for the life of the animal. You can fill out an adoption application online on our official website. Thank you for stopping by to see me!  Please fill out an application to set up  a private meeting.  Hi I'm  Candycorn !  I'm a beautiful lady who came into rescue with some secret cargo in my tummy.  I was a good mama and raised my babies and sent them all on to new homes.  Now it's my turn!  With new people and in new places I'll admit I get nervous and I either find a safe corner to hide in or I'll possibly bark.  At home with my foster mama where I'm familiar with things I'm a completely different dog.  I have the bestest happy smile, my tail doesn't stop wagging and I get the cutest dance and zoomies.  I gently jump against my fosters mamas leg so she can give me hugs and kisses.  Sometimes I kiss back!  When she stops I gently put my paw on her arm so she knows I want more.  I also love when she gives me chin and cheek scratches and I should probably mention tummy rubs are great too.     I get along great with all dogs and like to chase and wrestle when they're my friends.  I would do best having a doggie sibling in my new home so they can help me learn the routine in my new home and help me be more confident.     At home I am learning to walk on leash.  It's going great since I trust my foster mom.  It's fun jumping around in the grass and feeling the sun shine down on my face and the wind in my fur.  I haven't pottied on leash yet for her, but I do know that I should do all my business a fenced area so I do request one in my home.   I am kennel trained and I never potty in it.  I'm too smart for that!  I'm usually quiet in it too.  I know it's a safe spot when I need it too, though I prefer to be out hanging around my mom's feet instead.  When she's working I'm usually laying under her desk close to her in case she needs me.  You get treats there and pets haha!   I really like toys!  The soft ones are my favorite to chew on. I never had toys before rescue. I don't always like to share them, but I've learned mom will trade me for them and she'll gently play tug of war with me.     I haven't met any kids yet, but I think I'd be ok with older respectful kids who would be kind and gentle with me.  Fast movement and loud noises are overwhelming and I don't want to get scared and have to run and hide.  A quiet home where I can be a spoiled princess would be awesome.     Come and meet me and I promise you'll find that with a little time to learn that I'm safe and can trust you with my heart that you'll find a loving and loyal family member in me that will love you unconditionally!
