She was nervous, but she stayed present, walked through the front of the store, and even allowed several kind strangers to pet her. Though unsure, Iris chose courage. She didn’t try to bolt or shut down, and that alone speaks volumes about her potential. At home, the most beautiful changes are happening. Iris is in the very early stages of initiating contact on her own—small, quiet moments that might be easy to miss but mean everything to a dog learning to trust. She wants desperately to be a confident dog, and she is a confident dog with her people. She is shy with anyone new and does best with a quiet household, preferably a single female or couple that she can give her trust and her heart to. She is fine with children, but young ones tend to scare her with fast movements. Rua is house trained, leash trained, and crate trained. She's also capable of jumping over gates with a beautiful graceful leap. She should have another confident dog in her home to learn from and she loves to play with other dogs as well as toys. She needs a fenced yard, minimum of 4ft as well because she can get spoked easily. She is such a sweet girl who spent her short life having puppies and now she's ready to have a home and love of her own. Hi! I’m Dunne, aka Dune-buggy or Duners. Just thought I would stop in with a little update on me. If you’ve read my profile before you may know that I’m originally from Afghanistan and spent my first few years there. Because of my time there, we don’t know much about my previous life except that I was a street dog and didn’t live in a house. Now for the good update part. I’m really liking and getting the hang of this house living thing. The people and other dog I live with have been teaching me a lot of stuff and because of that I feel safer and more comfortable and confident so I do not need to always follow my temporary mom around everywhere she goes in the house. She keeps telling me that I am almost there to being a perfect gentleman. I now sit and wait for my food until I am told I can have it. Same with treats, I don’t try to grab it out of their hand. I do at times have a little too much energy and get a little too excited so I jump around or run up and down the stairs. So little kids or adults that aren’t steady on their feet might not be a good thing. I’m working on it, but sometimes I’m just too excited!!! I have learned to walk nicely on a leash. I stick pretty close to either person walking with me and do well when the other dog here is walking with too, but prefer to be with my foster mom if it’s a group walk. I get scared though of other dogs out or on leashes and tend to get a little reactive. We are working on it, but it’s hard to get over that fear. The people here have learned that I am not a fan of my kennel. I won’t fight it when they leave since the other dog here is already in his, but I get very scared to be in there. At night I don’t have to go in there at all now. This makes me so happy and grateful that I curl up and don’t move all night until it’s time to get up in the morning. Sudden movements too close to me or someone reaching out makes me nervous and cower. I am a lot better than I used to be, but it’s still a work in progress. I’m hoping to find a home that can continue to be more relaxed and patient with me as I continue on this learning journey. I like to lay around and relax most of the time and content with watching the world go by in the yard or deck as mom is tending to her gardens. I am a fast runner and need to get that energy out sometimes, so a fenced yard where I can run or someone that will take me on adventures to get that energy out would be ideal. I love to curl up on the couch with either foster parent and just be with them. Hello! My name is Dillyn Mae and I’m a very pretty girl who just arrived from Alabama!! I was very happy to join 2 of my siblings already at my foster home. Hi there! My name is Pumpkin, and I've officially declared 2026 as MY year—time for new beginnings and a fresh start that's long overdue! I've spent most of my life in a kennel without much outside time or the love every dog deserves, but that chapter is behind me now. I'm ready to write a brand-new story! Step 1: The Great Adventure from Alabama to Minnesota ✓ COMPLETE! I've hitched my ride north and am settling in beautifully with my foster family. While I get along just fine with my two canine foster siblings, what really makes my tail wag is parking myself right next to my foster parents for premium petting sessions. When they dare to stop, I politely remind them with a gentle paw tap that my belly won't scratch itself! I'm fully kennel trained and actually love my cozy den for naps and nighttime snoozing. Overall, I'm a pretty calm, laid-back lady who believes life is best enjoyed at a leisurely pace. Step 2: Operation Forever Family (This is where you come in!) I'm convinced I'd fit in with just about any family, making me the easiest choice you'll ever make! I haven't met any kids yet, but honestly, they sound amazing—more hands for petting and treat distribution! Since I'm more of a "Netflix and chill" kind of gal than a "run marathons" type, I don't really need a fenced yard. I walk well on a leash and would love to be your walking buddy. Full disclosure though—I'm still carrying some holiday weight (those Christmas cookies were irresistible), so I'd be thrilled to join you in any New Year's fitness resolutions. My foster parents haven't heard me bark even once, which means I come with built-in volume control! I've already conquered Step 1 of my master plan, and now I just need your help with Step 2. Will you be part of making 2026 my most pawsome year yet? Pumpkin is Heartworm positive and is waiting for a negative test result which can take 2-9 months after treatment. Her treatment has been completed and she will need a Heartworm test every 2 months to follow up on her treatment progress until she has a negative result. During these months, you will need to make sure her heart rate is not elevated due to high energy play or exercise. Pumpkin will also need continued use of monthly Heartworm prevention going forward.
