Story
Introducing Max! Playful Curious Shy Snuggly Hi, I’m Max! I’m a playful, curious, and sweet Great Dane who loves being part of the family. While I might be a little shy at first—especially around men with hats—once I feel comfortable, I’ll become your loyal and loving companion. My zoomies are pretty legendary, and I promise to fill your days with joy and laughter! I thrive on being included in everything my family does, whether it’s playtime, snuggles, or adventures. I’ve lived with children before and did great with them, though I’m not currently in a home with kids. I get along well with other dogs and tend to be submissive and curious around them. Cats? Well, I’ve been a little scared of them in the past, so I’d need careful introductions if my forever home has feline friends. What I Love: Playtime and running around (zoomies included!). Snuggling with my people—it’s the best! Car rides and exploring new places. Elk antlers and playing with balls. Being involved in all family activities. What I Dislike: Rushed introductions. I need a little time to feel comfortable, especially around men with hats. I’m housebroken and crate-trained. I have handled being crated for 8+ hours as needed while my foster family is at work. In my previous home, I did well with free roam too. I already know commands like sit, come, and down, and I’m working on learning shake. I’m also improving my leash manners and getting used to having my legs and paws touched. With positive reinforcement and some patience, I’ll continue to shine. I’m in great health with no concerns—ready to join my forever family! My Forever Home Wish List: Yard: A midsize to large yard where I can play and zoom around would be amazing. A physical fence isn’t required but would help keep me safe. Companionship: I’d love a home with another dog as a companion and playmate. Family: A family willing to continue my training and be patient during introductions would be the perfect fit. If you’re looking for a fun, loving, and adventurous addition to your family, I’m your guy. Let’s make some amazing memories together—I can’t wait to meet you! Max has a playful spirit and a knack for zoomies that will leave you laughing! When he's not running around, he loves to snuggle and soak up all the attention from his family. If you think Max will be a great addition to your family please reach out to us by following one of the options below. 1. If you have already completed the adoption or foster application process and are an approved adopter with UMGDR, please contact Max’s Placement Coordinator at callie@thegreatdanerescue.com to learn more about her. 2. If you are not yet an approved adopter through UMGDR, you must complete our application process before you can be considered to adopt a dog through our rescue. Please visit https://www.thegreatdanerescue.com/adoption-application to complete an application and submit your $25 application fee to begin the process. After you have been approved, please reach out to Max’s Placement Coordinator by emailing callie@thegreatdanerescue.com. This curious Dane is located in Presque Isle, WI. ##2261257##

Story
Introducing Nyx! Playful Affectionate Outgoing Snuggly Hi, I’m Nyx! I’m a playful, affectionate, and outgoing young Great Dane who absolutely loves being close to my people. Whether we’re snuggling on the couch or playing in the yard, I always want to be by your side. I’m eager to learn, full of love, and always ready for a new adventure! I’m a total Velcro-Dane—I like to follow my people everywhere and be part of whatever’s going on. I even enjoy meeting new people and have been affectionate with strangers! I have been doing well meeting adults and children. When it comes to other dogs, I’m all about playtime! I love to wrestle and chase my foster siblings, and I tend to be submissive around more dominant dogs. I’ve also met ferrets and a cat, and I pretty much ignore them—I don’t have a strong prey drive. What I Love: Snuggling: The closer I am to my people, the happier I am. Playing with other dogs: Wrestling and chasing my canine friends is so much fun! Training sessions: I love learning new things, especially when treats are involved. Morning zoomies: The best way to start my day! Carrying toys around: I like to have a toy with me—it’s comforting and fun! What I Don’t Love: Being left alone for too long: I’m happiest when I have company. Cold weather: It makes potty training a little tricky, but I’m working on it! Not touching my person in the car: I’d really prefer to have access to you! I’m incredibly smart and eager to please! I already know sit, leave it, center, touch, and turn around. Right now, I’m working on heel, off, stay, and down. I still pull on the leash when I get excited, but my foster family is helping me improve. Sometimes, I jump when I’m really happy, so I’ll need my forever family to continue working with me on that. I have been known to display some resource guarding towards people and dogs, so I will need someone committed to helping me with this behavior. I am mostly housebroken, with just an occasional accident at times. I also do well with getting in the car. I’m in great health with no known medical concerns! Since I’m not yet spayed, my adoption contract will include a spay clause. Forever Home Wish List: A physical fence isn’t required, but it is recommended so I have a safe place to zoom around. Any yard size is fine as long as I get daily exercise. A family that isn’t gone for more than 6 hours at a time would be best for me. Any children should be at least 10 years old. Another dog in the home would be amazing! I thrive when I have a canine companion. A patient, loving family willing to continue my training and socialization. Fun Fact: My playful puppy clumsiness makes me endlessly entertaining! Whether I’m zooming around, tossing my toys in the air, or trying to figure out where my big paws are going, I’m guaranteed to make you smile. If you’re looking for a sweet, snuggly, and fun-loving Dane to be your best friend, I might just be your perfect match. I can’t wait to meet you! Her goofy, affectionate nature will make her a perfect companion for the right family! If you think Nyx will be a great addition to your family, please reach out to us by following one of the options below. 1. If you have already completed the adoption or foster application process and are an approved adopter with UMGDR, please contact Nyx’s Placement Coordinator at michelle@thegreatdanerescue.com to learn more about her. 2. NEWLY AVAILABLE Introducing Alabama (affectionately called Ali)! Playful Social Affectionate Energetic Personality: Ali is a typical high-energy puppy. She’s full of playful curiosity - her days are filled with zoomies, chewing on all things puppy-approved, and trying her best to learn the ropes of being a well-mannered Dane. She’s incredibly sweet, adores attention, and never turns down a cuddle when it’s time to crash. Socialness: Ali is outgoing and social with all the adults she meets. She’s never shown fear around people and greets everyone like a friend. She also does great with kids but can be a bit jumpy due to her excitement. As she grows, she’ll benefit from guidance to help channel that puppy enthusiasm appropriately. Ali loves playing with the other Danes in her foster home—both male and female—and gets along well with all of them. She hasn’t been tested with cats, so if her forever home includes one, slow introductions will be key. Likes:• Playing, playing, and more playing• Squeaky toys and tug ropes• Mealtime—breakfast and dinner are highlights of her day Dislikes:• Sitting still Training: Ali is just beginning her training journey. She has started learning the "sit" command and is working on crate training. She is not yet fully housebroken and is continuing to improve. Health: Ali is in great health with no current concerns. Due to her young age, her adoption contract will have a spay clause. Forever Home Wishlist:• A physical fence is recommended but not required• A family gone for no more than 8 hours at a time• A busy, active household to keep up with her energy and curiosity• A patient family committed to her training and helping her become the best version of herself• Another playful dog would be a bonus • She likes to bark, so an apartment setting would not be ideal Fun Fact: Ali is a blanket snuggler! After a wild play session, she loves curling up under a cozy blanket for her nap—a total heart-melter! If you think Alabama will be a great addition to your family, please reach out to us by following one of the options below. 1. Introducing Luna! Sweetheart Adaptable Courageous Affectionate  Luna is one half of an extraordinary pair of Great Danes who embody courage, kindness, and boundless love. Luna and her brother, Ares, are ready to embark on a new chapter of their lives with you. This lovely lady is a stunning, white Great Dane who exhibits grace and charm that's simply unmatched. Her world is painted in shades of love and determination due to overcoming vision impairments with remarkable finesse due to her hearing and smelling She has proven that strength lies not in what we see, but in the unwavering spirit within. With every step, she demonstrates her determination to explore life to the fullest. Her bond with her brother is something truly special. They continue to find support from each other as they navigate their world safely. Their connection is a testament to the power of love and companionship, and they must be adopted together to ensure that they continue to thrive. They both love to be around their people and soak up the attention. While they aren't that into playing with toys, they do love going for walks and car rides! These two gentle giants can be the perfect addition to your family and can do well in a household with cats and older children. Due to their special needs, a home where they will be the only dogs is necessary. Both dogs are housebroken, crate-trained, and walk well on a leash. Their foster family has also noted they do well during car rides. A physical fence and minimal steps are required due to them having difficulty with hearing and vision. Neither dog has any medical/health concerns, but Ares occasionally requires an ointment for his eye. Are you ready to open your heart and home to this remarkable pair of siblings? If so, please reach out to us by one of the following steps. 1. If you have already completed the application process and are an approved adopter with UMGDR, please contact Ares & Luna’s Placement Coordinator at callie@thegreatdanerescue.com to learn more about them. 2. If you are not yet an approved adopter through UMGDR, you must complete our application process before you can be considered to adopt a dog through our rescue. Please visit https://www.thegreatdanerescue.com/adoption-application to complete an application and submit your $25 application fee to begin the process. Story
Introducing Maxwell! Energetic Playful Affectionate Extraordinary Hi there! My name is Maxwell, and I’m a fun-loving, adventurous pup with a heart as big as my playful spirit. Life may look and sound a little different for me because of my vision and hearing impairments, but that doesn’t stop me from embracing every moment with curiosity and joy. I’m on the lookout for a special family who will love and support me just as I am—and I promise to give you all my love in return! When it comes to playtime, I’m all in! My favorite activities include: Chasing after balls and tugging on ropes. Chewing on deer antlers (yum!). Exploring the world on walks and taking in all the new smells. Zooming around the backyard with my famous burst of energy—it’s my happy dance! I absolutely adore being close to my people. Whether we’re playing together or just enjoying some quiet time, I thrive on companionship and affection. Being left alone isn’t my favorite, and I might bark to let you know I miss you, so I’d love a home where someone is around most of the time to keep me company. Navigating the world with limited sight and hearing can be a little tricky, but I’ve got it down! Once I’m familiar with my surroundings, I get around just fine. I may see light, dark, and motion, and I can hear some high-pitched noises, but I mostly rely on my other senses—and the love and guidance of my humans—to help me feel safe and confident. Here’s what I’d love in my forever home: A calm, patient family who understands my unique needs. A physical fence to keep me safe as I explore and play. Preferably a midsize to large yard so I have enough room for zoomies! A calm, submissive doggy sibling who can be my buddy and help me feel more secure. If there are kids, I’d do best with older ones (12+) who have a gentle and calm demeanor. An experienced owner, especially someone familiar with caring for dogs with hearing or vision impairments, would be a huge plus! A family who is home more often than not. A work-from-home position would be awesome! Otherwise, I would prefer if my family isn't gone for more than 6 hours at a time. I’ve had a bit of a rough start in life, bouncing between homes before finding my way to foster care. Now, I’m ready for the stability and love of a forever family who will cherish me for the amazing dog that I am. I may need a little extra understanding, but I promise the love and joy I’ll bring to your life will make it all worthwhile. Fun fact about me: My “zoomies” are a pure expression of my happiness, and they’ll never fail to bring a smile to your face. I’m a resilient, loving boy who’s ready to be your loyal companion. Are you the one I’ve been waiting for? Maxwell is ready to embark on a new journey, and he'd love to share it with you. Please complete one of the following steps to make Maxwell a part of your family. 1. If you have already completed the application process and are an approved adopter with UMGDR, please contact Maxwell’s Placement Coordinator at callie@thegreatdanerescue.com to learn more about him. 2. Story
Introducing Tiny Tim! Affectionate Goofy Active Social  Hi there! My name is Tiny Tim, and let me tell you—my personality is as big as my paws! I’m a cool, confident Great Dane who knows exactly what I want in life: love, structure, and a strong, compassionate leader to guide me. My outgoing nature and magnetic charm make me a social butterfly, always eager to make new friends and brighten everyone’s day. I thrive in an environment where I can be my best self, surrounded by people who appreciate my larger-than-life spirit. When it comes to energy, I’m a true dynamo! Whether I’m going on a walk, running alongside my favorite human, or breaking into the ultimate zoomies in a wide-open space, I embrace life with boundless joy. Adventure is my middle name, and I can’t wait to share it with my forever family. I may be deaf, but that doesn’t stop me from being a star pupil. I’ve trained at the Becket School of Canine Training, where I’ve mastered commands through visual cues and touch. The best part? My training comes with lifetime support to ensure I keep growing and thriving with my forever family. I’m ready to show off my skills and learn even more with you! While I am ok with meeting other dogs in public, I prefer my personal space at home, so I’d do best as the only pet. Cats? Not my thing either. I’m happiest when I have my humans all to myself, and I promise I’ll reward you with endless love and loyalty. A physical fence is a must to keep me safe while I explore my surroundings. If you’ve got kids, I’d do best with older ones—teenagers who understand and respect my space. Here’s what makes me happiest: Long walks, runs, and outdoor adventures that let me stretch my legs and explore the world. Breaking into zoomies—it’s my favorite way to show off my playful side! Learning new things and practicing my training skills—it keeps me sharp and confident. Spending quality time with my humans. I’m all about building strong bonds! What I’m not a fan of: Sharing my home with other pets—I like to have my space. Environments without structure—I thrive when I know the rules and expectations. I’m looking for a home with: A physical fence to keep me safe during my outdoor adventures. A strong, loving leader who will provide the structure and guidance I need. Teenagers or adults who understand my needs and love me for who I am. An active family who will embrace my adventurous spirit and keep me engaged. Fun fact about me: I might be deaf, but my ability to communicate and connect with my humans is second to none. My training, enthusiasm, and loving nature make me a one-of-a-kind companion. If you’re ready for a larger-than-life best friend, I can’t wait to meet you and start our adventure together! Tiny Tim is ready to become a beloved member of your family. If you're seeking a loving, spirited, and larger-than-life companion, Tiny Tim is your ideal match. Complete one of the following steps to make Tiny Tim a part of your family or to foster him while he waits to find his forever home. 1.
