Story
Oonagh was adopted as a puppy from a rescue that no longer exists. She has been described as a mini Great Dane and that is very much her personality. She is about 70lbs and is 5 years old. She is loyal and affectionate. The reward she craves is your affection and attention but is also very food motivated. She is potty trained and crate trained. Her favorite place is next to you on the couch. She gets along with most other dogs but not all. She has some anxiety and takes medication to help her with that. She would be suited for a home that has no children and preferably no other dogs (or a low energy dog) as she does want to be the center of your attention and does well with routine. She walks well on a leash by herself but pulls if she is walking with other dogs. If you want a big loving companion who will gladly go for a walk/run or lounge on the she may be the dog for you.

Story
Introducing Max! Playful Curious Shy Snuggly Hi, I’m Max! I’m a playful, curious, and sweet Great Dane who loves being part of the family. While I might be a little shy at first—especially around men with hats—once I feel comfortable, I’ll become your loyal and loving companion. My zoomies are pretty legendary, and I promise to fill your days with joy and laughter! I thrive on being included in everything my family does, whether it’s playtime, snuggles, or adventures. I’ve lived with children before and did great with them, though I’m not currently in a home with kids. I get along well with other dogs and tend to be submissive and curious around them. Cats? Well, I’ve been a little scared of them in the past, so I’d need careful introductions if my forever home has feline friends. What I Love: Playtime and running around (zoomies included!). Snuggling with my people—it’s the best! Car rides and exploring new places. Elk antlers and playing with balls. Being involved in all family activities. What I Dislike: Rushed introductions. I need a little time to feel comfortable, especially around men with hats. I’m housebroken and crate-trained. I have handled being crated for 8+ hours as needed while my foster family is at work. In my previous home, I did well with free roam too. I already know commands like sit, come, and down, and I’m working on learning shake. I’m also improving my leash manners and getting used to having my legs and paws touched. With positive reinforcement and some patience, I’ll continue to shine. I’m in great health with no concerns—ready to join my forever family! My Forever Home Wish List: Yard: A midsize to large yard where I can play and zoom around would be amazing. A physical fence isn’t required but would help keep me safe. Companionship: I’d love a home with another dog as a companion and playmate. Family: A family willing to continue my training and be patient during introductions would be the perfect fit. If you’re looking for a fun, loving, and adventurous addition to your family, I’m your guy. Let’s make some amazing memories together—I can’t wait to meet you! Max has a playful spirit and a knack for zoomies that will leave you laughing! When he's not running around, he loves to snuggle and soak up all the attention from his family. If you think Max will be a great addition to your family please reach out to us by following one of the options below. 1. If you have already completed the adoption or foster application process and are an approved adopter with UMGDR, please contact Max’s Placement Coordinator at callie@thegreatdanerescue.com to learn more about her. 2. If you are not yet an approved adopter through UMGDR, you must complete our application process before you can be considered to adopt a dog through our rescue. Please visit https://www.thegreatdanerescue.com/adoption-application to complete an application and submit your $25 application fee to begin the process. After you have been approved, please reach out to Max’s Placement Coordinator by emailing callie@thegreatdanerescue.com. This curious Dane is located in Presque Isle, WI. ##2261257##

Story
Introducing Patch! Happy  Active  Social  Affectionate Personality: Patch is a playful and joyful Great Dane whose antics light up every room he enters. Despite his deafness and partial blindness, he exudes happiness and energy that are truly contagious. Submissive yet full of life, Patch thrives on companionship and play. Socialness: Patch loves the company of other dogs and would do best in a home with one or two canine companions to share in his playful escapades. His interactions with cats are unknown, so slow and structured introductions would be necessary. While Patch enjoys being around people of all ages, a home without young children is ideal due to his size and exuberance. Likes: Playing with his canine friends. Snuggling with his family. Playing outside and enjoying the fresh air. Ice cream treats (his favorite indulgence!). Hogging the bed or couch for his naps. Dislikes: Being left alone for extended periods. Training: Patch is housebroken and crate-trained. He does well with hand signals and touch for communication of commands. He has been trusted with free roam for short periods of time while his foster family is away but may get a bit rambunctious if left for longer periods of time while having free roam. He does do well being crated during a standard workday. Health: Patch is on a generic form of Prozac to help manage his anxiety. He also has "happy tail," a result of his wagging enthusiasm, which occasionally causes minor injuries. Otherwise, Patch is in good health and ready to share his love and joy with his forever family. Forever Home Requirements: A physical fence of at least 6 feet is required to ensure his safety due to his deafness and partial blindness. He would love a mid-size to large yard to play in. A home with one or two playful and gentle canine companions is ideal. No young children; older children or adults are best suited to match his size and energy. Fun Fact: Patch’s tail wags with so much enthusiasm that it sometimes causes his "happy tail" to break open—a testament to just how thrilled he is to be around his loved ones! His vibrant personality shines through his expressive eyes, inviting you to embark on a journey of love and companionship. Patch is eager to become your loyal friend. If you are the friend Patch is waiting for, please contact us by following one of the steps below. 1. If you have already completed the application process and are an approved adopter with UMGDR, please contact Patch’s Placement Coordinator at michelle@thegreatdanerescue.com to learn more about him. 2. Introducing Luna! Sweetheart Adaptable Courageous Affectionate  Luna is one half of an extraordinary pair of Great Danes who embody courage, kindness, and boundless love. Luna and her brother, Ares, are ready to embark on a new chapter of their lives with you. This lovely lady is a stunning, white Great Dane who exhibits grace and charm that's simply unmatched. Her world is painted in shades of love and determination due to overcoming vision impairments with remarkable finesse due to her hearing and smelling She has proven that strength lies not in what we see, but in the unwavering spirit within. With every step, she demonstrates her determination to explore life to the fullest. Her bond with her brother is something truly special. They continue to find support from each other as they navigate their world safely. Their connection is a testament to the power of love and companionship, and they must be adopted together to ensure that they continue to thrive. They both love to be around their people and soak up the attention. While they aren't that into playing with toys, they do love going for walks and car rides! These two gentle giants can be the perfect addition to your family and can do well in a household with cats and older children. Due to their special needs, a home where they will be the only dogs is necessary. Both dogs are housebroken, crate-trained, and walk well on a leash. Their foster family has also noted they do well during car rides. A physical fence and minimal steps are required due to them having difficulty with hearing and vision. Neither dog has any medical/health concerns, but Ares occasionally requires an ointment for his eye. Are you ready to open your heart and home to this remarkable pair of siblings? If so, please reach out to us by one of the following steps. 1. If you have already completed the application process and are an approved adopter with UMGDR, please contact Ares & Luna’s Placement Coordinator at callie@thegreatdanerescue.com to learn more about them. 2. Story
Introducing Maxwell! Energetic Playful Affectionate Extraordinary Hi there! My name is Maxwell, and I’m a fun-loving, adventurous pup with a heart as big as my playful spirit. Life may look and sound a little different for me because of my vision and hearing impairments, but that doesn’t stop me from embracing every moment with curiosity and joy. I’m on the lookout for a special family who will love and support me just as I am—and I promise to give you all my love in return! When it comes to playtime, I’m all in! My favorite activities include: Chasing after balls and tugging on ropes. Chewing on deer antlers (yum!). Exploring the world on walks and taking in all the new smells. Zooming around the backyard with my famous burst of energy—it’s my happy dance! I absolutely adore being close to my people. Whether we’re playing together or just enjoying some quiet time, I thrive on companionship and affection. Being left alone isn’t my favorite, and I might bark to let you know I miss you, so I’d love a home where someone is around most of the time to keep me company. Navigating the world with limited sight and hearing can be a little tricky, but I’ve got it down! Once I’m familiar with my surroundings, I get around just fine. I may see light, dark, and motion, and I can hear some high-pitched noises, but I mostly rely on my other senses—and the love and guidance of my humans—to help me feel safe and confident. Here’s what I’d love in my forever home: A calm, patient family who understands my unique needs. A physical fence to keep me safe as I explore and play. Preferably a midsize to large yard so I have enough room for zoomies! A calm, submissive doggy sibling who can be my buddy and help me feel more secure. If there are kids, I’d do best with older ones (12+) who have a gentle and calm demeanor. An experienced owner, especially someone familiar with caring for dogs with hearing or vision impairments, would be a huge plus! A family who is home more often than not. A work-from-home position would be awesome! Otherwise, I would prefer if my family isn't gone for more than 6 hours at a time. I’ve had a bit of a rough start in life, bouncing between homes before finding my way to foster care. Now, I’m ready for the stability and love of a forever family who will cherish me for the amazing dog that I am. I may need a little extra understanding, but I promise the love and joy I’ll bring to your life will make it all worthwhile. Fun fact about me: My “zoomies” are a pure expression of my happiness, and they’ll never fail to bring a smile to your face. I’m a resilient, loving boy who’s ready to be your loyal companion. Are you the one I’ve been waiting for? Maxwell is ready to embark on a new journey, and he'd love to share it with you. Please complete one of the following steps to make Maxwell a part of your family. 1. If you have already completed the application process and are an approved adopter with UMGDR, please contact Maxwell’s Placement Coordinator at callie@thegreatdanerescue.com to learn more about him. 2. Story
Introducing Winston! Playful Affectionate Energetic Initially Shy Hi, I’m Winston! I’m playful, sweet, and always want to be part of whatever my humans are doing. I’ll even back up into you for some butt scratches—just to make sure you’re paying attention! I love being outside, playing ball, and getting my zoomies in. I can be a little shy at first with new people, but treats are the key to my heart. Once I warm up, I’m a total lovebug! I’ve spent time with a 5-year-old and an 11-year-old and done well. I prefer calm kiddos. Roughhousing makes me nervous and a bit protective. I get along great with other dogs and would love a playful companion. I’m also respectful with cats. Likes: • Playing ball and going for walks • Running and getting the zoomies • Snacks and chewing on bones Dislikes: • Being left out of the fun I’m housebroken and have good recall in most situations. I’m not crated in my foster home, but I’ve done well in a crate while staying with a sitter. I know commands like “sit,” “place,” “off,” and “come” (though sometimes I have selective hearing). I will counter surf if I get the chance, and I like to carry around shoes—but I’ve only destroyed toys so far! I’m still working on not pulling on the leash and not nipping when I get excited. I do best with a consistent routine and structure. I’m in great health with no current concerns. Forever Home Wishlist• A physical fence is recommended but not required• A midsize to large yard so I can stretch my legs and zoom around• Children should be 8+ or dog-savvy due to my size and energy• Another playful dog companion would be great but isn’t required• A home committed to continuing my training and setting a routine• Not suited for apartment living• I can do okay crated for 8+ hours if needed, but I love being near my people Fun Fact: I love to toss and catch my stuffies all by myself! I might not stay still for a whole movie, but I’ll be your cozy footrest while you watch.
