My name is Helena, and I’m a 4-month-old Great Dane weighing in at 27 pounds. Don’t let my size fool you—I’m going to grow into a big girl, probably over 100 pounds one day! Right now, I’m eating 3 cups of food a day, but that will likely double as I grow. I may come off as shy and a bit nervous, but I’m gaining confidence every day. I love following my foster sister’s lead and have even learned how to “sit” just by watching her! I’m a quick learner and very treat motivated. I can be a bit stubborn and like to do things on my terms, but I have plenty of toys and bones to keep me busy. I’m goofy, a little clumsy, and very laid back. I enjoy playing and snuggling with my humans and other pups, but I can also play independently if needed. I was once a stray, so potty training has taken some time, but I’m getting the hang of it. I now sleep through the night in my crate without accidents and haven’t had one in over a week! I do have some separation anxiety and tend to bark when left alone in my crate during the day. I use my loud voice to tell everyone to hurry up and get home so we can play some more. While I am learning how to walk nicely on a leash, a fenced yard isn’t required, but I would really appreciate it! I get along well with children under 12 years old, but I can be a bit clumsy and forceful, so I need to learn some manners. My people said that I would benefit from puppy training and that I’ll learn quickly with a brother or sister in the house to take cues from. I love playing with balls, stuffed toys, and bones. I like to pile them all in my bed and then sit on them—it’s pretty funny! I’m a typical puppy and get into everything, but I’m also a cuddle bug who aims to please. My foster mom describes me as a sweetheart with floppy ears, wrinkles, and long legs. It’s important for my future family to be familiar with Great Danes. While I’m a puppy now, I’ll grow into a big dog with specific needs. Feeding quality food, understanding health concerns like Wobblers, Bloat, and hip dysplasia, and being prepared for the costs of owning a giant breed are essential. Training is a must for a dog my size, and I promise I’ll be a wonderful addition to your family. Could you be my forever home? Love, Helena *I’m a growing puppy and I have not yet had a lot of experience with crates, kids or cats and I might bark if something alarms me, but I really love to learn and hoping for a family who will take me to a basic obedience class to continue to help me build confidence and dog skills. Ideally my forever home would need to be home during the day to help me with my potty training and not leave me for breaks longer than 3 - 4 hours. Get your toy box ready! **Obedience classes are required when adopting this puppy from Underdog Rescue. Many of our puppies have a mama who was not properly socialized before coming to Underdog Rescue. Since coming to Underdog, this puppy has been in a socialized and loving home, but that needs to be continued with its Adopters. Training classes teach puppies the ins and outs of being a pet while creating a bond with their new Adopter. Obedience classes are key to creating a relationship with your puppy while having it be a happy and successful member of society. Proof of Obedience Class registration is required for this puppy before adoptions can be finalized. If you would like some suggestions, we would be happy to send some trainers who have experience with Underdog Rescue, but a Basic Obedience class in your area should work! P lease note that some of our dogs are obtained from shelters, surrendered to our care, or released from breeders. Each animal's bio is based on our experience of the animal within our care, an educated guess based on physical characteristics, temperament and information shared. Each dog receives basic grooming when coming into rescue, but for some dogs they have not received grooming attention until recently and grooming may be required shortly after adoption. This will be at the adopter’s expense, so we encourage you to research the breed and be prepared for grooming expenses. Underdog cannot guarantee hypoallergenic or non-shedding qualities of any dogs in our rescue. Some of the animals come from situations where they are lacking experience in a home and confidence in humans. In turn, they require another companion dog and/or a fenced in yard in their forever home in order for them to feel safe. Hello, my name is Kyra! I’m an 8 year old Great Dane weighing about 100 pounds. I know I’m a little older, but don’t let that fool you, I’m full of energy, healthy, and love to go on walks. I’m very friendly with everyone, cats, kids, dogs, and even a pig! I know sit, speak, shake, and stay. I walk great on a leash. I am fully potty trained and will tell you when I need to go. I prefer to have my own space when I eat, and I don't like sharing my kennel as it's my safe space. Hi! I'm Louis. I bet you are already wondering if I'm deaf and vision impaired due to my beautiful white coat. I am - but I don't know that. I'm a 1 year old neutered male. Currently in my foster home, I am living with 3 female Danes and 2 teenage human kids. It's great here - I love playing with the other dogs and the kids are pretty great too. My foster mom and dad are teaching me new things. I'm learning but still have a hard time avoiding that stuff they call human food on the counter. I am house trained and am working on kennel training. My foster mom says I would do well with someone who is home more often than not. I'm not a candidate for someone living in an apartment or townhouse as I make a lot of noise in my kennel. If the humans leave, I have to go to my kennel to make sure I'm safe and don't get into anything i shouldn't. I sleep on a dog bed at night but I would really love to snuggle with you and sleep in your bed. A fenced yard for me would be fantastic too so I stay safe. Hey there, I am Gordy aka Gordon (when I’m not listening) and Gordito Crunch (when my foster mama is playing with me)! I am an almost 3 year old Great Dane/Great Pyrenees mix. That just means I’m extra great of course!  I have the Great Dane height and body but a Great Pyrenees head with the Pyrenees shedding.  I was originally surrendered as a puppy due to having special back legs. I was adopted to a wonderful family but recently was surrendered back to rescue because I can be a strong personality. I get that from the Great Pyrenees side.  I love hard and love attention from my humans but don’t enjoy people I don’t know initially. I take my job of guarding the home seriously and need my humans to communicate and prove to me that they can control and protect the house so I don’t have to worry about it.  I recently spent a month with a really nice lady who taught me really fun things like walking well on leash, a strong place command, heel, come and all of the other skills I need to be a well mannered boy.  I really love to play with toys and other dog friends as long as they are not dominant. I’m a total goofball but have shown resource guarding over food with other dogs. I prefer to eat my food and bones in my kennel.  I really love my kennel. I sleep there at night and when my foster parents are gone. I will counter surf if left unattended.  Remember how I was surrendered as a puppy due to having special legs? Well, I still have special back legs. I was born with slightly twisted femurs so I walk a bit differently and have arthritis in my back knees. I love to run and play but can be sore after playing all day long so I occasionally take gabapentin to help. I also require daily joint supplements to help my bones stay healthy.  I currently take anxiety meds daily. I have been on these since I was young to help with my desire to protect the home. These meds cost about $90 for a 90 day supply so any future adopter needs to be able to continue to pay for regular medications.  Foster Mama Here: Gordy is the bestest boy. We fostered him when he was a puppy as well. We do not let him greet visitors at our house and require him to stay on his bed in a “place” while visitors are here. He is also happy to stay in his kennel. He does like to meet people slowly and at a good pace. Once he knows and trusts you he will forever welcome you as a family member of his.  Gordy has so much potential and loves so hard. But he will require owners who can set strict boundaries in the home and hold him accountable. His breed and genetics make him want to protect his home and people but if you a set boundaries he is such a great listener.  We walk him on a prong collar and he is eCollar trained. His adopters will need to commit to continued use of these training tools and also meeting with his board and train trainer to learn about everything he knows.  Gordy loves the snow and playing outside. His favorite is his doggy pool in the summer. We have 4 other dogs in our home and he plays with all of them.  Gordy lived with kids in his first home. He was very protective over them so we do not recommend he go to a home with children under the age of 12. He has been thriving with a farm life and would do best outside of the city. ##954057##

Hi, I'm Cinder! I'm a tall 1.5 year old Great Dane! My foster mom says that I'm a really good puppy. I think she means that I'm really easy going and not always full of the devil for my age. She also tells me all the time that I'm a very good girl. I'm friendly with everybody and I'm always happy. I can be talkative at times but I'm not sassy. I am perfectly potty trained. I sleep on my dog bed but really would prefer to cuddle with my people in bed. I am currently living with 2 special needs female Danes, 2 kiddos 11 & 15, and my foster mom and dad. I have a medical condition called mega esophagus. It's really not too bad and my foster mom is helping me manage it. I take some medication for it, she soaks my kibble in water, feeds me from a raised feeders, and she even makes me treats made from jello because I can't tolerate crunchy treats. I probably won't grow out of this condition but I don't think it will get any worse. I would like a friend to play with in my new home and maybe even a kiddo or two. Hi there! I'm Loki! I'm almost 4 years old and I'm the goofiest, most fun, totally wild, Great Dane! I was the jumper, and I'm a big boy, so they sent me off to training. I still like to jump up at my foster mama but she reminds me that she's the boss and I gotta keep "4 on the floor". I just want to show her how much I lover her is all. I love playing with other dogs, and I really love affection from my humans. I'd prefer a fenced in yard to run in, and maybe an active home to keep my busy body moving! I do need a calmer home though, I'm a total scardy cat when it comes to new things. OMG I saw my foster mom picking shows on her smart tv and boy that was scary, all of those boxes suddenly just move. I told her to just pick a show already. Because of my jumpy nature and skiddish demeanor,  I need a home with no kiddos. In fact, kiddos are one of the reasons I'm here. The kids in my old home were wrestling, and I wasn't about that, so I got in the middle of it to protect my human brother and snipped at a kiddo. I'd like to say "i'll never do that again", but the crew around here puts in all the extra caution. I am crate trained, AND completed a full board and train program so I know my commands, what is expected of me, can handle the vet if you guide me, and am a perfect walker. They also say I don't bark much! I think I'd like a dog friend, big or small-- the smaller ones just have to watch out, I have big feet.  Do you have room for a big goofball like me?
