We are rehoming our 7 yr old female Great Dane,Luna. Due to moving restrictions and life upheaval we are unable to take her with us or provide the daily care and attention she so deserves. She is extremely calm, loving, obedient, loyal and a big giant softy, a lapdog that likes to sleep under the covers and loves car rides. We'll trained and house broken and leash friendly. We don't want any money for her, just a good family that will lavish her with the love and attention she deserves

Hey there, I am Gordy aka Gordon (when I’m not listening) and Gordito Crunch (when my foster mama is playing with me)! I am a 5 year old Great Dane/Great Pyrenees mix. That just means I’m extra great of course! I have the Great Dane height and body but a Great Pyrenees head with the Pyrenees shedding.  I was originally surrendered as a puppy due to having special back legs. I was adopted to a wonderful family but returned back to rescue because of my sensitivity to frequent visitors. I get that from the Great Pyrenees side - I feel the need to protect my home and yard.  I love hard and love attention from my humans but don’t enjoy people I don’t know initially when they enter my home. I take my job of protecting the home seriously and need my humans to prove to me that they can control and protect the house so I don’t have to worry about it. I really respect boundaries and expectations that are presented to me by my humans!  I  graduated a 5 week board and train program  in 2023. I have strong obedience skills and am looking for a home who can hold me accountable to those skills. I know how to walk well on leash, the place command, heel, come and all of the other skills I need to be a well mannered boy. I am trained with an eCollar and a prong collar for walking. My future family should be comfortable with those training tools.  I really love to play with toys and other dog friends. I’m a total goofball but have shown resource guarding over food with other dogs. I prefer to eat my food and bones in my kennel or in a separate room from other dogs however, as I get older I am much more relaxed. I am also good with cats though have never lived with one.  I really love my kennel. I will sleep there at night, when my foster parents are gone or when there are visitors at the house. I can also be left out to free roam at night though I prefer to sleep next to my foster parents bed or in the hallway so I can keep a watchful eye on my humans.  Remember how I was surrendered as a puppy due to having special legs? Well, I still have special back legs. I was born with slightly twisted femurs so I walk a bit differently and have arthritis in my back knees. I love to run and play but can be sore after playing all day long so I occasionally take gabapentin to help. I also require daily joint supplements to help my bones stay healthy. I have a pet insurance policy that will be transferred to a potential adopter - they will be expected to continue to keep that in place after adopting me.  Foster Mama Here:Gordy is the bestest boy. We fostered him when he was a puppy as well. We do not let him greet new visitors at our house and require him to stay on his bed in a “place” while visitors are here or in his kennel. He does like to meet people slowly and at a good pace. We would walk his adoptive family through the intro process that he is successful with. Once he knows and trusts you he will forever welcome you as a family member of his.  Gordy has so much potential and loves so hard. But he will require owners who can set strict boundaries in the home and hold him accountable. His breed and genetics make him want to protect his home and people but if you a set boundaries he is such a great listener. We walk him on a prong collar and he is eCollar trained. His adopters will need to commit to continued use of these training tools and also meeting with his board and train trainer to learn about everything he knows. Gordy is muzzle trained. He is great at the groomer! Gordy loves the snow and playing outside. His favorite is his doggy pool in the summer. We have 4 other dogs in our home and he plays with all of them.  Gordy lived with kids in his first home. He was very protective over them so we do not recommend he go to a home with children under the age of 12. He could thrive in the country as he will bark when he sees humans and dogs walking by the home. ##954057##

Hi there, Zeus here!! I’m a 1-year-old Great Dane who just celebrated my first birthday — woot woot! I was surrendered because my family lived in a small apartment, and while apartment living can totally work for Great Danes, I’m a big, energetic, goofy teenage boy and was just a little more than they could handle. Since coming to rescue, I’ve been living on a farm with some other doggos and doing great! I love playing with my friends along the fence line, and I recently got to run some serious zoomies with another Dane. And let me tell you... I play exactly like you’d expect a toddler Great Dane to play: full speed, all limbs, absolutely no awareness of where my body ends. Suddenly everyone understands why apartment life wasn't for me. I’ve been told that I did well at dog parks in my previous home, and I love everyone I meet. However, I do have a history of resource guarding around other dogs, particularly with treats. I have growled and lunged when another dog has approached something I consider valuable. While I’ve otherwise done well with other dogs, this is a behavior my forever family needs to take seriously. Treats, food, chews, and other high-value items will need to be carefully managed around other animals, and my family will need to continue working on this behavior through training. Because I’m a very large dog, the rescue wants to make sure my future family understands this behavior and is prepared to manage it safely. I came into rescue with basically zero training, zero impulse control, and approximately zero manners. That means it’s up to my forever family to continue working with me, giving me structure, and setting me up for success. I’m only one, so I have lots of learning left to do — and lots of potential! Because of my size, energy, and lack of previous training, training classes will be required in my forever home. If classes involve treatos, I have officially agreed to these terms. Meet Maui!  Maui is a fun, goofy, high energy guy who is looking for a home that can keep up with him! He absolutely LOVES getting out and doing things. Walks are one of his favorites, and he’s even happy running alongside a bike. If you’re looking for a dog to join you on adventures, Maui is ready to go! Maui loves toys, but fair warning this boy needs the BIG, durable ones. He plays hard and has a blast doing it but he will swallow small toys / things he gets into his mouth.  He’s also a total love bug. Maui loves attention, affection, and being close to his people. One of his favorite ways to show his excitement is by jumping up to give “hugs.” We’ve been working with him on waiting until he’s invited, and he’ll need someone willing to keep reinforcing those manners. When Maui gets excited or overstimulated, he can also get mouthy/nippy. It’s more than the gentle puppy mouthing you might expect, but it isn’t aggressive biting. He’ll do best with someone who understands energetic dogs and can continue working with him on appropriate play and boundaries. Also would consider not having small children handle him until that is more under control.  And somehow, underneath ALL that energy, Maui has a couch potato setting. Once he’s gotten his energy out, he’s perfectly happy curling up next to you for some serious cuddle time.  Maui would be a great match for an active person or family who wants a goofy, affectionate adventure buddy and is willing to give him the exercise, structure, and continued training he needs. Introducing Copper! Affectionate Gentle Playful Initially Shy Personality: Copper is a sweet Dane who may be shy at first, but once he feels safe, his affectionate and silly nature begins to shine. He’s calm, kind, and loves being included in the daily routine. A creature of habit, he thrives in consistency and finds comfort in knowing what to expect. Socialness: Copper gets along well with everyone in his foster home. He’s submissive with other dogs and respectful of their space, often waiting for them to initiate interaction. He hasn’t been around cats, so slow and structured introductions will be needed. He responds well to slow, structured introductions with new people. Due to some resource guarding around toys (which his foster has diligently been working on), older children or those with experience around large dogs would be best. Likes & Dislikes: Loves zoomies and playing with other dogs Enjoys toys, snuggling, and car rides Dislikes raised voices and nail trims Training: Copper is crate trained, housebroken, and does not destroy bedding or toys. He can comfortably be left alone during a typical 8-hour workday. He knows the commands sit, come, down, shake, and leave it. He is leash trained, incredibly smart, eager to please, and responds very well to positive reinforcement. Health: Copper is in great health with no current concerns. He does seem to have a beef sensitivity, so he’s currently on chicken-based food and treats with success. Introducing Willow! Smart Playful Sensitive Energetic Personality: Willow has a love for routine. She learns quickly and will pick up on her family's routines in no time. She can be a little stubborn when she has her mind set on something, but underneath that independent streak is a fun-loving girl who wants to be part of the action. When she's happy and excited, Willow has a serious case of the zoomies, especially when her foster family comes home. She loves her toys and will bring them to her people when she's ready to play. Willow is an active girl who needs regular exercise and mental stimulation to stay happy and healthy. She enjoys neighborhood walks, running through the sprinkler, playing with her toys, and even watching TV. She has strong opinions about some television characters, though. Apparently, the Minions are not on her list of favorites! Socialness: Willow loves her people and enjoys getting attention. She will often come over and nudge her humans when she's ready for some pets. She also has a particularly adorable way of showing affection by going between her people's legs. We call these her "leg hugs!" Willow is affectionate with people she trusts, but she needs slow, controlled introductions with new people. She can be reactive toward people at times, particularly when there is a barrier such as a fence or window. Once she feels safe and has had an opportunity to approach at her own pace, she can warm up nicely and enjoys receiving pets. Willow's foster family has noticed some barrier frustration. For example, she may bark at the neighbor through the fence, even though she has met the neighbor outside the fence and happily accepted pets from her. Now, Willow may bark until the neighbor comes over to say hello. She also barks out the window at people and dogs. Willow does not enjoy the company of other dogs and must be the only dog in her forever home. She can become reactive when she sees dogs, particularly if they are barking at her, and may bark and pull on the leash. There are some dogs she simply ignores, and her foster family has not yet identified a consistent pattern. Her adopter will need to be comfortable continuing her training and helping her learn to navigate these situations safely. Willow does not have experience living with children, but based on her personality and reactivity, she would not be a good fit for young children. Older, Dane-savvy teenagers may potentially be a better match. Willow has barked at the neighbor's cat and would do best in a home without cats due to some prey drive instincts. Likes: Giving “leg hugs" between her people's legs Playing with toys Running/zoomies Neighborhood walks Running through the sprinkler Watching TV—although she has strong opinions about some shows! Training: Willow is housebroken and is not crate trained. She has been trusted with free roam of the home and has done well when left alone for up to 6 hours. She knows sit, on your bed, shake, and is currently working on leave it. She is a smart girl who learns household routines quickly and will benefit from an adopter who enjoys continuing her training. When there are no distractions, Willow walks well on leash. However, seeing another dog can be a significant distraction and may result in barking and pulling. She will need an adopter who is willing to continue working with her on leash walking, dog reactivity, barking, and appropriate introductions to new people. Willow can also be a bit of a counter surfer and may investigate the garbage if given the opportunity, so good management and keeping tempting items out of reach will be important. Health: Willow came into rescue with allergies and a skin rash, but she has stabilized with her new allergy medication and is doing much better. Her adopter will need to continue her allergy medication and monitor her skin as part of her ongoing care. Forever Home Wishlist: A physical fenced yard is required A house rather than an apartment setting, as Willow can be a vocal girl A small-to-midsize yard is perfectly fine as long as she receives plenty of daily exercise and mental enrichment A family who is committed to continuing Willow's training A predictable routine.
