My mom says now that it’s hard for her to move around that maybe I would be able to get lots of love from a new mom since she can’t give her all anymore. It makes me sad her sad too. She says I deserve the best and she will find it if she can’t give it.!

Story
History: Gru is a handsome boy who is our largest dog in rescue at this time. He is so kind and sweet and was released by a commercial breeding program. He hopes to find his forever home soon! A Note from the Foster: My name is Gru, and I love love. Like, really love. My favorite thing is scratches, I could get them all day long. But, that might interfere with my nap schedule…I’ll have to think more about that. When my foster parents don’t pet me enough, I lean on them and direct their hands with my gentle mouth (it’s a Dane thing). Speaking of naps, I sleep many hours each day and love my kennel. I prefer to eat and play with other dogs (it’s a social Dane thing). I’m learning to play with toys, especially cozy couch blankets and towels to make my kennel feel more at home (it’s a comfort Dane thing). My foster mom tells me that my heart, ears, lips, and brain are the same size…who am I kidding? She thinks my brain is the smallest part of me but she doesn’t realize that I’m just being me (it’s a Dane thing). Time to be serious. I am the silliest dog you may meet, taught my foster dad a game where he acts like a dog, and prefer to do things on my time. I am learning to go potty outside and walk on a leash. I’m still adjusting to a life where I have freedom and fun, and

Story
History: Poe FKA Blanc was recently returned to rescue when she was no longer a fit for her adopted home. She is in need of a cherry eye surgery that is scheduled for December. She has not been spayed yet due to holding until she is 2 years old and full grown. Her adopter will sign a spay contract and will need to commit to the potential ongoing care she as a Great Dane will require. She hopes to find her forever home soon! A Note from the Foster: Poe is a fun-loving, energetic, and incredibly cuddly gal who doesn’t let a little cherry eye dull her sparkle. She adores toys of all kinds—rope, stuffies, sticks, bones are all her jam! She also loves neighborhood walks and soaking up every bit of affection she can get. Poe is potty-trained with regular outdoor breaks and a bit of encouragement to “go potty.” She’s also crate-trained and settles down nicely after a few moments of barking. While Poe is a sweetheart with people and other dogs, she’s developing a prey drive toward her current foster’s cat, so a cat-free home would be best. She would thrive in a home with another playful dog or as the center of someone’s world. After playtime, Poe is happiest curling up next to you, gently resting her head in your lap, and snoozing the day away. She’s ready to bring joy, energy, and snuggles to her forever family!

Story
History: Clint is a super handsome Great Dane mix who needed a second chance from an unfortunate situation in a rural area. He is such a sweet boy who is hoping to find his forever home soon! A Note from the Foster: Meet Clint – the brave, sassy pack pup! 🐾 Clint may be listed as a “Great Dane mix,” but he’s not tracking to be Great Dane-sized—he just has a Great Dane-sized personality! Next to his Great Dane foster brother, he’s clearly the little guy, but his confidence, charm, and zest for life are larger than life. Clint has come so far since arriving in his foster home. Once shy and cautious, he’s now a confident, playful, and sassy pup who loves life with both his people and his dog friends. He’s a true “pack puppy,” happiest when he’s part of the action—whether that’s romping in the yard, chasing toys, or curling up near his humans. Clint adores other dogs and gains confidence from having a canine buddy, so a home with another friendly pup would be ideal. But don’t let that fool you—he loves his people just as much, following them around the house and greeting them with tail wags and kisses. He’s doing wonderfully with potty training and sleeps quietly in his crate all night. Clint is smart and food-motivated, making training sessions fun and productive—he’s already working on his commands like a pro. Clint’s ideal home: 🐶 Has another confident dog to be his buddy and role model 🌿 Includes a yard for running, playing, and sunbathing 💛 Patient, loving humans who will celebrate how far he’s come and encourage his continued growth Clint is ready for his forever family—a home where he can be brave, playful, and loved for the amazing dog he already is. Could that be you?

Story
Alice is an 8-year old Great Dane/Labrador mix and a certified velcro dog! At 104 lbs, she is spry and energetic for her age with short bursts of energy before settling back into her favorite pastime: snoozing. Alice will happily follow you around from room to room just to make sure she doesn't miss out on the action!Alice adjusted easily to her foster home and has proven to be an easygoing and loyal companion. She is house-trained and crate-trained, and is happy to go into the crate when asked. When she gets excited, she will grab her favorite soft, squeaky toy and prance around the room, letting everyone know how happy she is. She shows her affection by gently nuzzling or leaning into you for pats, and her favorite way to ask for belly rubs is by rolling onto her back and waiting patiently. She’d thrive in a home where people are around often and where she doesn’t need to be crated too much, otherwise she may bark on and off. She doesn't get very vocal, but when she barks it can be loud. She usually makes a quiet "woof" when she needs to go outside or is hungry (if you haven't attended to those things already). She can sometimes bark when crated, but it never lasts that long.Alice is a creature of habit who thrives on routine, anticipating each part of the day from eating to walking to going in her crate on her own. Her foster family says that training has been a breeze—Alice now knows to sit and wait before eating, receiving treats, and getting her harness on for walks. She only asks for love and a comfy couch to lay on.She loves people and forms a special bond with women. She is social with other dogs and loves making new friends at the dog park. She cannot live in a home with cats. Alice has a lower energy level overall, but she loves going outside! She loves to go on hikes and is surprisingly great on a leash, not pulling at all.She might be 8 years-old, but Alice still has a lot of love, life, and joy to give! Are you ready to meet this sweetheart? If you are interested in Alice, fill out an application at this link to get the ball rolling - https://pethavenmn.org/adopt/adoptable-dogs/dog-adoption-application/The adoption fee is $250. Adoption fee includes spay/neuter, heartworm/Lyme test, all age-appropriate vaccinations (distemper, rabies, and Bordetella), heartworm and flea/tick preventatives, and microchip implant (including registration). Story
Introducing Copper! Affectionate Gentle Playful Initially Shy Personality: Copper is a sweet Dane who may be shy at first, but once he feels safe, his affectionate and silly nature begins to shine. He’s calm, kind, and loves being included in the daily routine. A creature of habit, he thrives in consistency and finds comfort in knowing what to expect. Socialness: Copper gets along well with everyone in his foster home. He’s submissive with other dogs and respectful of their space, often waiting for them to initiate interaction. He hasn’t been around cats, so slow and structured introductions will be needed. He responds well to slow, structured introductions with new people. Due to some resource guarding around toys (which his foster has diligently been working on), older children or those with experience around large dogs would be best. Likes & Dislikes: Loves zoomies and playing with other dogs Enjoys toys, snuggling, and car rides Dislikes raised voices and nail trims Training: Copper is crate trained, housebroken, and does not destroy bedding or toys. He can comfortably be left alone during a typical 8-hour workday. He knows the commands sit, come, down, shake, and leave it. He is leash trained, incredibly smart, eager to please, and responds very well to positive reinforcement. Health: Copper is in great health with no current concerns. He does seem to have a beef sensitivity, so he’s currently on chicken-based food and treats with success. Forever Home Wishlist: A fenced yard is preferred An apartment or apartment-style setting could be fine, as he's quiet and well-mannered A family committed to continuing his progress with toy/food guarding Older children or an adult-only home Another dog companion would be a plus, especially one who matches his gentle energy If you think Copper will be a great addition to your family, please reach out to us by following one of the options below. 1.
